When in sandab boats going out?

      A:

They don't seek them specifically. Boats fishing the bottom are more likely. Potentially every day

Can I bring my 6 month old?

      A:

There's a sign when you check in that boarding passes are required for infants, so my guess is yes.

Captain Kayla and Christine were fantastic! Both were so informative and knowledgeable about all the sea life we were seeing. We witnessed a humpback whale breaching completely out of the water, twice. Just an incredible experience aboard the Catallic. Thanks, can't wait to go out with them again.
P.S. Christine's photos are quite impressive.

Amazing time as always... went out on a twighlight on 4/20/2024 and the crew truly made the trip as fishing wasn't the best with waters around 60 degrees and only a couple of hours to fish but we pulled in over 15 bass and quite a few sculpin so all in all I couldn't complain... big thanks to the Captain and his young crew and hope to see you guys again soon!

Well we were not lucky enough to see any whales... we had an amazing opportunity to see a shark! Not just see it... we were able to watch it eat a dead swordfish!!

The staff was amazing... Captain Harrison and Bryce. And of course Jill... she made it so fun!!!

First ride and got lucky and saw a Mako shark eating a fish carcass. Larry the captain said he'd been a captain for 5 years and hasn't seen anything like it!

Our group included kids and adults ranging from 2+ and we all had an excellent time. Jill made it exciting and was very interactive with us and had a great sense of humor.

Rent binoculars or bring a set as watching the shark feed with them on made it even more exciting!

So many snacks and drinks available for purchase at a reasonable price.

No assigned seating unless your VIP.

Our group moved around the boat and sat at various places without issues as seating was available. I enjoyed the front of the boat stadium seating the most!

      Amazing trip!

I recently went on a 3/4 day fishing trip booked via a Groupon deal, and it turned out to be a huge letdown. Before the trip, I called to inquire about the necessary fishing gear and was advised to bring 14-16 oz sinkers and 3/0 hooks. However, upon arrival, I found that the tackle provided to my friends who rented their gear was completely different, featuring only 3-4 oz sinkers and smaller hooks. Although initially minor, this discrepancy was just the start of a series of frustrations.

The real issue began once we set sail towards Catalina Island. The day was mostly spent moving from spot to spot with very little actual fishing. Every time we dropped our lines and even started catching fish, we were instructed to reel everything back in within 5-10 minutes to move to another location. This constant repositioning, far from providing better fishing opportunities, only led to seasickness and a growing sense of being ripped off.

What was supposed to be a relaxing day of fishing turned into a tedious and nauseating boat ride. The frequent moves left us with hardly any time to actually fish, which was the sole purpose of our trip. This experience was not only disappointing but also felt like a waste of both time and money.

On a positive note, the crew onboard were exceptional. They were extremely helpful whenever anyone had tangled lines, snags, or needed assistance setting up their rigs. Their professionalism and helpfulness were the highlights of an otherwise frustrating day.

I would advise potential customers to look for another charter that prioritizes actual fishing time over aimlessly cruising around. Ensure your day on the water is spent with a line in the sea, not just battling waves and disappointment.

What an awesome 2 hour whale watching trip. We got lucky and saw a bunch of dolphins right out of the harbor and during the ride out. Towards the end we got to see a Grey Whale close up to the beach and hung out for about 20 minutes.

Awesome company with great employees with good knowledge and fun information for adults and kids. I highly recommend taking the family out with Davey's Locker!

Even though we did not catch any fish at all which was highly disappointing, we had a good time. Staff were very friendly and accommodating. They help you when help is needed and did not bother you at all. Place was clean and professionally operated. Loss of 2 stars as we were surprised that very little fish was caught and there was so much hype on big hauls from other days. People did catch some fish but small. I know we were not the only ones that day who left empty handed.

Pictures are deceiving for the sunset cruise, you don't go out to the ocean. It's a dinky boat ride through the harbor. We thought we were going to be out in the ocean seeing the sunset. The pictures show a boat out in the ocean. Misleading. Let us know we are staying in the harbor in the description.

This was my first time on the Holiday lights cruise around Newport harbor. I ended up getting an amazing deal on the tickets because I opted for an earlier time (4:30). Let me tell you, this was the best $20 cruise I've ever taken (tickets are normally $43). You need to arrive an hour before your scheduled departure as parking may be a challenge. Davey's locker sends you an email when you book the ticket with handy information and maps to recommended parking lots.

I enjoyed the earlier cruise as you boarded when it was still light outside and then would watch the sunset as you started to cruise around the harbor. Once it got dark, you could see all the houses decorated with holiday lights.

There is a restroom on board the boat and a small concession stand. Each boat probably seats about 80 people and you can opt to sit on the upper deck for a better view or inside if you're cold.

The cruise lasted about 75 minutes. The service was quick and the staff was very business-like. I would do the cruise again next year but would aim for the boat parade.

We booked a Luxury Whale Watching cruise on the Catamaran yacht and it was fantastic! Small group of people and personally I love how a catamaran sails, see photo proof of me having fun below! We saw several Fin Whales and Dolphins, Kayla and Jill made our trip exceptional. They were both so excellent, funny, and kind, they just greatly added to the overall experience! This is not the first time we have gone on an experience with Davey's Locker and it won't be the last!
