Da Legna is a New Haven hot spot that offers artisan and traditional pizzas, small plates, salads, and home made desserts in a comfortable vintage setting surrounded by great libations, wines, craft/domestic/imported beers, and attentive service. In the "City of Pies", we do more than our fair share of creating authentic, well executed pizza options. All of our delicious thin crust pies are cooked to perfection in our imported wood-fired oven. Complimented by many small plates and salads, our menu allows all to find their perfect array of tastes and textures. We create our options using the freshest and best ingredients and top our pizzas with a variety of gourmet cheeses. We also offer a Vegan menu as well as Vegan options for our pizzas. Our Gluten-Free dough has people raving that Da Legna is the mecca for gluten free pizza in CT. What sets Da Legna apart from the traditional New Haven pizza scene is our ingenuity and willingness to push the envelope successfully!

Pizza is great. Drinks are awesome. The design of the place is also really nice and modern. The service is also good with it being pretty fast. Totally reconmend.

Vegan pizza! We were very happy with the two pizzas we ordered. We got the Giardino and Pollo. Not our favorite vegan cheese or vegan meat options, but when away from our usual spots we are not as picky. The vegetables all tasted fresh and the crust was really good!
My photos do not do it justice! The lighting was bad, trust me it looked and tasted so much betterHelpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - 24416192773Dec 23, 2023
Yet another solid pizza joint in New Haven, a city that is known for having delicious pizza.
Thankfully I do not live here, or I would have serious health problems from all the arterial blockage because of all the cheesy goodness, like the blood in the streets that run through this town.
Good pizza though. It is tasty and thorough and comes out very fast. It is amazing how much I can eat of this and still feel empowered afterwards. Fresh sauce, terrific sauce, and that soot on your hands from the pizza cooking. I looked like I just got out a tire shop with how much was on my hands. But I love it, I dig it.
Da Legna gives a solid performance for a solid pie and would recommend it if you need a good New Haven pie. It is also by the train tracks so it is ideal for anybody looking for something to do if you have to wait. Yes, I am talking to you, railfans.
Enjoy and partake and dig right in.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Nov 29, 2023
It's a great pizza place. They serve delicious cocktails and pizza. This place is very uniquely decorated too. We ended up here for lunch with a group of friends after a mild Hike.
I didnt really care for pizza because i really wanted to save my appetite for my craving of steak later on. My friends truly enjoyed their pizza tho. I ordered the arugula salad with aside of grilled chicken and that was amazingly good
Definately a place to visitHelpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Gene W.Wallingford, CT32315252Nov 15, 2023Updated review
An update since I've been the restaurant a half dozen times now.
I come here with a big group of musicians from the non-profit New Haven Chamber Orchestra after our concerts in the area. This place not only has a large parking lot with easy access to the highway, but also is open rather late compared to lots of other restaurants so they have been our destination of choice over the past few years. Service has always been excellent, and they've gone above and beyond to keep our massive part of 20+ people together. We've been able to make a reservation each time, and we're grateful for the exceptionally helpful staff.
I've warmed up more to their pizzas after having tried more of them. The Hot Honey pizza is currently my favorite, with a combination of sweet honey and spiced meats. For meat lovers, it is the appropriate choice! As a constrast, the Funghi pizza is also delightful, and just packed with umami flavor. I appreciate that there is a gluten-free crust option for my friends with that dietary restriction; just note that it pales in flavor to the regular crust. Again, the cheesecake is a must have; I try to order it every single time I go. My only criticism would be that they really ought to offer a couple more appetizer or small plate options on their menu, especially as pairings with their extensive beer choices.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0Nov 17, 2022Previous reviewGreat service and ambience, love the huge booths (we came with a very big group of folks right after we played an orchestra concert). Prices are a bit on the high side, but the pizzas are delicious, and the drink menu is vast. The house-made cheesecake is just phenomenal, and is not to be missed when you come here!

A departure from classic haunts like Modern, Sally's and Pepe's, yet Da Legna stands on its own. They've got mooz and plain, but also Broccoli rabe and sausage, plus some creative ones with truffle honey and ricotta. Also a couple of different salads to choose from (we had the arugula fennel), and sides including super savory meatballs. A great option when your party wants pizza and more.

After a hike my friends and I stumbled upon Da Legna x NOLO and although we wanted steak we were not disappointed with what we ordered.
We all love the velvet pink booth it definitely has a elegant vibe which I loved. Perfect spot for a date.
Service was prompt and attentive. I got my water refilled multiple times which I appreciate.
My sister and I shared a large figura pizza which its fig n prosciutto which is one-of my favorite sweet and salty combination.
Would definitely go back when in a mood for good New Haven style pizza.Helpful 3Thanks 1Love this 1Oh no 0 - Jul 20, 2023
I think Da Legna is easily a top contender for the best pizzas in New Haven. Their Honeypot is one of my favorites of all time. It's made of tomato, sliced hot peppers, mozzarella, dried meat, and drizzled with truffle honey. The Pecora is an amazing vegetarian (or dessert) pizza, made with goat cheese, ricotta, pistachios, and truffle honey. The State is a meat lover's dream with pepperoni, meatballs, bacon, sausage, pepper, onion, garlic, and mushroom.
They also have standard pies such as Margherita, as well as vegan dining options.
However, their service has been rather inconsistent. I'd often come in small groups for dinner, and there were two separate meals in which we had to actively flag down a waiter to take down our orders after waiting for an extended period.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Apr 3, 2024
A solid choice for a less crowded pizza experience...but not taking a place on the New Haven pizza hitlist. The honest reason we ended up here was not wanting to wait in line in the rain at a certain pizza spot down the street. The pizza here is very good with a light dough, a bit of flop in the middle common to style, and high quality ingredients. The topping options and combinations are top notch. The style is more Neapolitan compared to its neighbors but that's not a bad thing. We enjoyed the Funghi and the Patate pizzas, with split decisions on which was better. The Funghi had mushrooms, burrata, ricotta, tarragon, and truffle oil but somehow fell short on the mushroom taste. We could see the mushrooms (our guess was shiitake mushrooms based on the looks, which is weird) but wished for more "mushroom-iness?" Still a good pizza. The Patate was mashed potato, spinach, bacon, Gouda, and, a surprise ingredient, corn. This was very good, mostly due to the amount of bacon, but we agreed the corn was a bit much. Very good pizza, and probably the best of the two. Overall, I think we'd go again but tough to follow through on that with more iconic, and well-earned, reputations for pizza so close.

A twist between Neapolitan and New Haven style pizza, De legna serves up upscale pies in an elegant setting far distinct from Wooster street. We were excited to try De Legna, but were not impressed by the service. Given by the small crowd the night we visited (as pictured), it took close to 30 minutes for our cocktails to be prepared and our food ordered. The ambiance is fun, the pizza is solid, and it is definitely a fun place to try. However, given our about average experience, we likely would choose other nearby pizzerias before returning.
