About the Business
Creation Station is a wildly creative dance school concept which provides movement based programs for children 16 months through 16 years of age. All of the classes at Creation Station reflect a commitment to promoting high self esteem. They entertain as well as educate and most of all, allow every child to be just that - a child. Creation Station takes a developmental approach to teaching. We have realistic and age-appropriate expectations for children. Our classes begin with a consistent structure. From there we add a developmental theme, physical focal elements (designed to strengthen coordination, build body awareness or flexibility, and in the case of ballet and jazz classes, introduce technical elements for practice), and finally we add a magical make-believe component to tie everything together. Our award winning and internationally recognized program for kids 16 months through the age of 6, uses an incredible assortment of props , costumes and weekly developmental themes to inspire and engage the children. We help children develop and practice social, physical, and gross motor skills, but our major focus is the FUN. Enrichment is only enriching if your child is engaged and interested in what she/he is doing. Once your child turns 6, they transition seamlessly into the Creation Station Academy (CSA) program...

My daughter is going to be 16 months in December? Can I put her in the class before 16 months? She's going to be 14 months in a few days?

We've been going to Creation Station in West Hills since my daughter was about 18 months old. She's almost 3 now and we love that it's a part of our Sunday mornings. Our teacher has been Ms Sydney since day 1 and we couldn't be happier. It's not easy to command a class of 2 year olds, but she manages all while still keeping it light and fun! My daughter looks forward to class every week and she has grown more independent and confident over time. We love Creation Station and hope to be here for many years to come!

We absolutely love Creation Station, but specifically Miss Sydney. My daughter was initially very shy and timid which is typical for a toddler. However, over time she has come out of her shell and fallen in love with her dance class. Now she loves to practice at home and sings all the songs constantly.
Creation Station has a true gem in Miss Sydney. She greats us every week with a warm, welcoming hello and has always remembered my daughter's name. She is engaging and so charismatic. Most importantly, she has the patience of a saint! It cannot be easy to wrangle 5-8 toddlers, especially when there are those who simply don't listen. She stays calm, continues to try and get them to participate and never lets her frustration show.
We are so happy we found Creation Station and look forward to continuing our daughters dancing there. Please never let Miss Sydney leave!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0Business owner information

Honest and lengthy review. . .
We had originally been going during the week since I was off work and able to take her to classes. I need to start by saying and Lindsey is your greatest asset.
She is who I feel the 5 star ratings are pertaining to....
Once we switched to a weekend class we noticed a very large decline in customer care and I'm not sure we ever met our actual teacher from all the subs.
The girl sitting at the desk could literally give two sh!ts less about the adults behavior or following any posted rules for the common curtesy of other paying customers.
People eating and drinking INSIDE the dance room, more then one parent per kid, parents with multiple children (not taking the class) out of control inside the dance room while my child's class was going on- completely unacceptable.
I found this to ruin my experience, every time. How very selfish of those parents to not allow other paying customers to enjoy the class their child is enrolled in.
What's the number one rule when wearing tap shoes? No running. The other rule was no stomping but that rule goes out the door when theres a 'sub' teacher (that happens more frequently then not). The stomping is EAR PIERCING and honestly ruins tap shoes.
There's was no discipline or any consistency with the teachers- and definitely no possibility of a routine for a recital....
I would not recommend this dance school to anyone with children 3 and up.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0Business owner information

Hi Jordana,
Thank you for writing to us. It has given us lots to review how we may do better in the future.
First and foremost, let me apologize for anything less than a wonderful experience at the studio.
You are absolutely right, that moving from Thursday morning to Saturday for our most popular time for our most popular class will create more activity at the studio. I wish you had spoken to me at the studio at that moment about your concerns. The class seemed to be proceeding well and all the commotion seemed to be in the lobby. When you contacted our Director later who was not at the studio on the phone, our understanding was that you were no longer interested in classes due to all the activity that day. Perhaps we did not fully understand. Again, we are sorry we did not respond they way you wished. However, it sounded like you wished for there to be a significantly different environment. We cannot reasonably promise what other families and young children will do when they arrive. Of course, all of this is within reason, and we will confront significant sustained unfortunate behavior if it materially impacts class. In fact we have asked families to leave if they will not help us.
Many of our families enjoy the lively interaction in our lobby and have forged wonderful new friendships. Other’s simply come and watch their child in class. We honored your intentions and ended your enrollment. In the end our main goal is to create a fun environment for children and their families of any age. Now, nearly 3 weeks later, it seems this is still a concern. I hope you will find the below will give some context to your experience. We hope you will consider and give us another opportunity to make things better.
Please understand, the final day you were at the studio on August 20, I was at the studio and am the owner. In fact, it was probably, in the lobby, one of the more chaotic days due to a variety of factors that were absolutely NOT normal. 2 parents showed up with their 2-3 year olds without scheduling ahead of time. One was a grandmother who assumed the parents had enrolled her grandchild previously and was so looking forward to visiting her first class. Another was bringing a friend with her 3 year old. Reasonably, they were only permitted to join the class when it was apparent that other students were not attending that day and chosen to schedule a makeup. When the unscheduled families arrived, I had already advised them that there was no guarantee they could join the class. It would not be reasonable to the other families. In the end it worked out. I can see how you perceived these were just extra families. In addition, there was another family with 3 children (only 1 in the dance room) who was trying to juggle with the help of a nanny all their Saturday morning activities. Lastly there was another mom with her child who was in the lobby buying dance apparel for her daughter. They were having a lot of fun trying on dresses, shoes, tutus and in the end purchased a quite a wardrobe and were very excited to start a future dance class. Yes there was a lot going on.
At this time our Saturday classes are kept very small and it appears from our record you came to 2 Saturday classes ever since changing from Thursdays. Yes, one Saturday class had a substitute. We do have a regular teacher for that class who had a family wedding one of the 2 times you attended. All our teachers are trained in our unique syllabus, and of course they bring their own creativity to each class. Our teachers are are professional dance, and they will on occasion, miss a class due to an audition. Barring a catastrophic emergency, we do not cancel classes, which frankly never happens.
Regarding your comment about letting our families know what is expected, we have signage at the door to the dance room that requests obvious. One states in Big font, NO DRINKS, NO FOOD, NO PHONES in the Dance Room. On occasion, at this age we may have a caregiver with an infant in tow that may be feeding. Some of our families stop at Starbuck’s next door on their way to a 10:00 Saturday morning class. I believe, it is generally not intentional to bring their beverage into class and as much as possible, we remind our parents to leave them in the lobby. It is not our standard. - Tina L.WOODLAND HILLS, CA2317141Jan 22, 2023
We just wrapped up our kid's 5th bday party at creation station and we could not have been happier about this decision! From the beginning the communication with the manager has been excellent. Cersha was prompt and responsive, informative and kind. We had the best party coordinators and teachers (Chelsea and Dana) who led creative games and dance moves, and got the whole entire party (~14 kids) moving and going! The tailored the whole package to our rather unique theme and went above and beyond our expectations! We are so impressed by their professionalism, talents, and kindness. Definitely recommend this place for kid's party if your little one and their friends love to dance and move!

I started my two year old, who is now a threenager in the ballet/tap class with Miss Sydney. While I was hesitant to start her in dance classes post pandemic for safety reasons and because my toddler had missed out on socialization opportunities during the pandemic and didn't quite know how to behave around others...
I've had a pleasant experience, the studio is clean and they are flexible with rescheduling in the event that your child does become sick. Classes are the right amount of time, to where my 3 year old and the rest of the dance students are engaged and learn different dance moves. It's a welcoming environment and the instructors are great.
Additionally my daughter has grown so much during this time, not only has she build and learned new dance skills and moves but she has learned how to follow and be part of a group. Miss Sydney has been amazing, she has been very patient and is knowledgeable in dance. She makes the students feel welcomed, my daughter looks forward to dance class every Sunday! I would definitely recommend, you'll see the change and growth in your child.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0Business owner information
