I usually love Creamistry so much but it was my first time at the location and it wasn't great. The service wasn't amazing or anything but it also wasn't bad.
The serving sizes are not only different from each other but different from other locations as well.
We ordered these two as the same size and the Oreos one came with a topping so I'm not sure how it can be half the size. Definitely not coming here again.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Jan 5, 2020
I've always heard of Creamistry but never had the chance to go. When I saw that they had a "Cookie Monster" reaction (blue ice cream, Oreo cookie and Chips shot crumble, chocolate sauce and whip cream) I knew I had to take my son as a special treat. He happily sat and sang while the lady made our creation.
I have to give the counter-girl a lot of credit. My high school job was working at Dairy Queen and I couldn't imagine having to go through as many steps as she did to make a damn sundae! I started to feel guilty after a while! I don't know how they would do it during a crowded time! But our ice cream was complete after a few minutes and it was delicious! The portion was large (enough for 2 adults and a toddler to share - and still have leftovers!) so I feel like the price was fair.Helpful 4Thanks 0Love this 5Oh no 0 - Oct 18, 2017
I always like places that let me assemble my food step by step, so Creamistry was a great find. You pick your base (regular, organic, coconut milk, etc.) and your flavor, and then your mix-ins, and they freeze it to order, using liquid nitrogen. It's fun to watch, and a great way to get lots of flavor choices you wouldn't normally see for an obscure base like coconut milk.
Is it better than pre-frozen? Probably not, but it's all about the choices. Of course, the downside is it takes ten or fifteen minutes to get your order, but then again, where else are you going to get a coconut milk espresso affogato with heath bar crunch?!Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 0 - Erica C.Los Angeles, CA518187Dec 1, 2019
Worst service EVER! Tonight, when I placed my order, the employee behind the cash register told me he wouldn't be making the made to order ice cream this place sells because I ordered flavors he had stored in his cake freezer and he had to, "get rid of" them and "don't worry, it won't go bad for another day or so." After begging this employee and to make the fresh, made to order ice cream this place is famous for, and offering to pay extra for their made to order ice cream, he agreed to make the make the ice cream "just this once."
I should add, I was the only customer ordering ice cream (it wasn't busy at all), I buy ice cream here about 30x a year and pre made (in the cake freezer) ice cream is not a menu item.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Jan 17, 2017
This ice cream is pure creamy goodness, emphasis on CREAMY! Loved it so much, my senses got a little wired up. I got the Birthday Cake with a drizzle of chocolate, the texture was perfect, sweet enough to call it ice cream, but not overwhelming. The rainbow sprinkles are mixed in, and add a nice mix to the texture. I went with the whole milk option, because the guy said it gives the creamiest texture. However they have a nice selection of milk options to choose from, including nondairy.
The guy helping me was great at giving me the rundown on how everything works and offering recommendations. They also have a pie chart on the counter with a breakdown of the post popular flavors, lol. Unfortunately they don't offer samples, because everything is made upon ordering...bummer, because I was curious about the Captain Crunch. Also, you can only get one flavor regardless of how many scoops you get, not sure the reason for this, but a single scoop is more than plenty, and since you can only get one flavor, it's probably the practical option.
Overall, this is a nice ice cream spot with a cool concept, and I will definitely return.Helpful 8Thanks 0Love this 7Oh no 0 - Sasha M.Baton Rouge, LA2177970Apr 24, 2019
Flew all the way from Louisiana, drove from Culver City, parked and walked 7 blocks.
Closed on a random Wednesday at 2:30pm. People who were inside saw us outside but didn't bother saying anything or offering an explanation.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 0 - Sarah H.Cypress, CA1569476May 25, 2019
I came here with a groupon, but even with that it wasn't worth $13 for two ice creams.
I preferred traditional coconut based ice cream, which is more creamier. Mine was delicious first taste however wasn't the same.
The other was mangoneada and my bf didn't like it.
Service was quick, as we came during a good time.
Parking, not much aside from meter and structure for $5 flat rate. Most parking on the street is permit only.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - 10775672005Jun 21, 2016
Pretty good and pretty pricey! If you don't mind shelling out a little extra for a tasty, novel, and customizable ice cream experience, definitely give Creamistry a try.
The interior is bright and cute with a decent amount of seating. The cashier was pleasant and immediately asked me if it was my first time, and since it was, she explained to me how to order. She was also helpful when I was having trouble deciding on a topping.
I like a lot of things about this place: you can choose your base (including vegan sorbet and coconut milk), and there are plenty of flavors and toppings. It's fun to watch the ice cream being made - it's like being in a mad scientist's lab!
I chose the cookie butter with marshmallow creme mixed in to the premium base; apparently it's a popular combination. The flavors were definitely true to their name, and the texture was really interesting. Definitely creamy, no iciness at all thanks to the liquid nitrogen. It melts beautifully in the mouth, but interestingly when you're scooping it with a spoon, it reminds me of almost of soft clay or putty, dense and just a little bit stretchy. I found my combo to be a little bit too sweet and rich, but it was still yummy, and since I could only eat half of the small size, the bonus was I got to eat it again the next day! I'm looking forward to coming back and trying a different flavor combination.
Tip: there is currently a Groupon - for $12, you get 4 vouchers that are worth $5 each (so worth $20 total). 1 per customer per visit. This definitely makes a difference since the small ice cream is $5.50, I believe!Helpful 26Thanks 0Love this 27Oh no 0 - Apr 28, 2018
The ice cream here is SUPER creamy and delicious, but also very expensive (which is why -1 star). We spent $9 on a regular-sized cup! Whaaat. $6 for the ice cream, $1 for organic milk, $1 each for two toppings (cheesecake and banana). Would I come back? Sure, but not get the $3 add-ons and check in for a free topping! Our grand product was strawberry cheesecake ice cream with banana topping, and it was absolutely delicious.
I highly recommend this place, I would just watch out on the add-ons you decide to include!Helpful 3Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 0 - Dec 13, 2015
Great concept where they use Nitrogen to freeze your vegan ice cream. The concept is three steps. The first one you choose your base. You can use premium milk, almond milk, coconut milk or low-fat milk. Second you choose your flavor. Which is pretty much and less as they can mix-and-match to your taste. Thirdly you pick your toppings, which include your typical sprinkles, Mochi, white chocolate chips, gummy bears, marshmallows, etc.
Then comes the fun part. You watch as your concoction is mixed and Nitrogen fills the bowl and flows over onto the counter. Reminiscent of the chemistry lab days.
And there you have it, your own creative dessert made with Nitrogen.
There is street metered parking in addition to a 2 hour free parking garage directly across the street on Beverly.Helpful 60Thanks 0Love this 60Oh no 0
