I have this theory is that some of the third-wave coffee shops in town (like Coffee Jerks) are intentionally making bad lattes for two reasons:
(1) to upset me personally. Me. Jeff. Because that's how made-up theories with no basis in science work: they require that I believe that I'm the center of the universe, right?
(2) to reduce how much milk they'll actually have to use, so that the dairy milk lobby can be pushed out by the various nut milk lobbyists, or something... The theory falls apart at this point. It's not a very good one...
But in all seriousness, this CJ falls short on many levels. First, this location is tiny compared to the Deer Creek CJ. I have certain friends who frequent this place often, so whenever they wanna hang out, I intentionally specify that I want to meet somewhere North of Memorial Road, so that they can't suggest this place.
The major grievance about this CJ is that they like to set their milk temperature to "On Fire." Is this like a... North OKC / Edmond thing? Do people from this part of the city like their coffee to taste like it's been on the surface of the sun? Because it seems like every coffee shop around the area (outside of Evoke) likes to boil their milk into oblivion.
Heating the milk to ridiculous temperatures does two things:
(1) it scalds/burns the milk, which in turn (badly) affects the taste of said milk, and
(2) the over-steaming results in an excess amount of foam. And not the good, silky-smooth micro-foam, but something more akin to bubble bath foam. So by the time you actually get to taste your to-go drink (which will be 30 minutes later, because of how hot it is), you realize that you overpaid for your scorched drink. Because a Large Latte is in fact now a Medium Latte; you don't have to take your coffee shop name quite so literally, you guys... See attached pictures for reference on how much of a latte you actually get once you remove the foam. Which, they don't fill to the top even if you consider the bubble bath foam as part of the drink volume.Helpful 5Thanks 1Love this 1Oh no 4 - Brianna I.Oklahoma City, OK1832Jan 25, 2024
I don't leave bad reviews option, but Coffee Jerks has unfortunately been a consistent miss for me. The only other coffee spot in the nearby area is a Starbucks, but I'd rather just make it at home at this point.
I LOVE supporting smaller coffee shops, so I really did make an effort and try to give this spot a couple chances, but truly everything about it has been a major let down :(
The coffee is always mediocre at best, the service feels like you're talking to a brick wall (which is somehow not listening), and it's not somewhere I'd want to spend a morning working on my laptop in. The setting feels cheap, and for how disappointing their coffee is, it definitely isn't that.
If you're in the area and give it a shot, I hope you have better experiences than I have!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - May 19, 2023
Gotta love reviews huh?! Nothing more trivially polarizing than opinions about businesses. Lots of great raves about the staff and being treated very well but geez the sign and location size blah blah blah
The interior is small: okay. The sign and store location are distant and indistinguishable: not at all. The circle sign indicates there is a drive thru for coffee jerks, and there is a "coffee jerks" sign directly above their space. Do these warrant a one star review for great service and getting what you want? No
From my experience along with the several people in my group that squeezed into this cute little space we all agreed that we received great service and lots of great potable creationsHelpful 4Thanks 1Love this 3Oh no 0 - Matthew G.Oklahoma City, OK30151144Nov 24, 2023Updated review
Exceptional service paired with a range of healthy menu options make this coffee shop a true gem! The team attentiveness and warmth create a welcoming atmosphere, while their dedication to offering flavorful choices, from oat milk lattes to fresh fresh hearty burritos, truly sets this place apart. My favorites are the sausage burrito and guiltless snickers fit frappe. Always a five-star experience for those seeking both quality service and health-conscious options!

They also offer amazing breakfast burritos that are from the Hacienda in North Park Mall. I highly recommend the sausage burrito.
My kids love the frozen hot chocolate. I've had a sip; it's amazing.
The service is always very friendly and fast. There is plenty of seating and free WiFi. They also have a drive-thru if you're in a hurry. - Shyana O.Edmond, OK15454Mar 16, 2024
Customer service was beyond what I expected. I wasn't too crazy about the coffee drink since it just tasted like pure sweet milk, no coffee taste. I'll try another one next time but I'd still recommend you give this place a try. Was a very chill vibe inside and would be a nice place to grab your books and get some studying in. Not bright inside and had the perfect amount of light.

Cute little cafe! There are maybe 4-5 tables that seat 2-3 people & one large bar table that can seat 3 people. I came here to study, but didn't find it spacious enough if you're studying in a group!
The customer service was great! The girl at the register was really helpful in deciding what to order. She recommended the Irish cream & hazelnut latte; delicious! It's perfect if you want something a little sweet, and still get the taste of coffee.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Oct 19, 2022
Tasty latte. I tried Coffee Jerks for the first time today and ordered a sugar-free fat-free vanilla latte and it was quite good. Cute shop. It appears to have a drive thru but I went inside. I liked that they didn't play music at 1000 decibels. It was nice background music and the place was cozy. My only suggestion is that they need a few more comfy seats - not just tables with hard metal chairs. But that might be designed to avoid squatters. :) I'll be back.

I finally had the chance to try this coffee shop. The place is relatively small, and after visiting it, I feel like it's a place where I can grab my drinks to go rather than a place I can sit for a while and chat with friends or family. It just didn't have that "coffee shop atmosphere." Anyway, I had their ice chai latte. I had better ones since theirs is pretty sweet and thin-tasting. I think my friend had a better experience since he liked his Americano, "that's really good coffee."

Visited when their espresso machine was down so I decided to get a cold brew instead of my usual iced americano. I ordered a regular cold brew with sugar free vanilla and oat milk. What I got seemed to taste like it was all milk and sweetener with hardly any cold brew. To top it off the entire cup was heaping with ice to the point where the lid was lifting from the cup and I could hardly get my straw down to the bottom. Paid $6.20 for this drink and was not happy. Guess it's time to start making drinks at home again!

This has become my favorite go to coffee place. I honestly don't know if they use some kinda of magic bean or what but their coffee always taste so good to me. My personal favorite is the white chocolate mocha. My wife gets the coffee jerks mocha which is a white chocolate and Carmel mix. It is delicious itself. With all the different bigger coffee places around I'm glad to have found this hidden gem.
