Cobra Towing & Recovery

The driver met my husband at the crash site of my pregnant daughter and son in law. It was the day after Christmas at about 9 am on an awful rainy day. Obviously we were extremely worried about her safety and the driver made it very easy for us and let us leave the scene to take care of her. When my husband went to get things out of the car the owner Ralph Blanco met him and helped us get our personal items out of the car since the vehicle was totaled. He handled things with the insurance company so that we weren't out any money as the accident was not our fault. We and our kids will always call them first. They are fantastic. I know that it must be rare to hear NICE things about a towing company in Tallahassee, especially on or near the FSU campus, but I was so impressed by this company! Yesterday my vehicle wouldn't start and I was stranded at work on the campus. After waiting an hour for a jumpstart that was non-effective, my insurance company got me in touch with Cobra and put in a ticket to be picked up asap. They said it would be 22mins according to their info (to which I thought, "yeah right!") so I sat patiently and began waiting. Within 5 minutes the driver called me to let me know he was down the street! I was parked in a very narrow loading alley next to my store and he was able to zip in, hook up and tote my vehicle out of the narrow space effortlessly and without damage then went directly on its way to Bobs Auto near campus. The driver was quick, courteous and truly a life saver!

If my car breaks down again, I'd rather abandon it forever then get a tow from Cobra. My car wouldn't start one morning, so I set up an appointment to get it looked at by a mechanic but I needed to tow it there. I called my insurance company the night before to set up the tow, asking for arrival between 7-7:30am. My insurance texted me the following morning that my tow should arrive at 7:09. When did the driver show up? 7:50 -- after THREE phone calls to explain where I lived. (The operator at the tow company sounded like she had been sleeping when I called and the driver wasn't that much more awake.) in person, the driver was grubby with dirt caked on his hands. He didn't listen when I tried to explain why I couldn't start my car and took his sweet-ass time. Not once did he genuinely apologize for being 40 mins late and he didn't even bother to ask if I needed to be anywhere (he made me late for my service appointment, which later made me late for work). Then came the kicker --- on the drive he tells me: "unfortunately for you," he didn't initially hear the call for my appointment because he only got off work at 3 am, so he says he was running off 3 hrs' sleep after working an 18-hr day the day before. AND HE'S OPERATING HEAVY MACHINERY! He was also texting-and-driving with his office operator and he was driving 30 mph on a 45mph road. Suffice it to say: I couldn't leave his truck fast enough. He tried to be friendly but I just couldn't get over how unprofessional and disrespectful he was of my time. Never again!!!!!

I don't usually review companies but after receiving such a great level of service I thought I should share my experience.

Cobra Towing is the best experience I have ever had with a towing company. I was stranded on the side of I-10 after having a bad blowout. I was unable to drive my car because the tire ripped my radiator lines down. It was a Sunday, I was stranded with my wife and two babies--Cobra drove out, towed me to their shop, and had my car fixed very fast. They did not stop working even after it was getting late. They towed me off the interstate, replaced the damaged radiator lines, replaced my tire, and were very hospitable the entire time. I would ABSOLUTELY use them again and happily recommend them if you need a tow service. Very honest, hardworking and polite people.

My car was stuck between the parking barrier and the sidewalk curb inside my apartment community and therefore I had to call up the roadside assistance through my insurance company. They sent a towing truck from Cobra Towing and Recovery. That's where all the trouble started. Everything seemed very unusual about the driver of the towing truck. He hardly spoke anything and was almost silent throughout the entire episode. He drove his truck inside the apartment community as if he was driving his sports car. He drove and backed up his truck on a very high speed and broke one of the parking barriers inside the apartment community while driving over the curb. This was really very scary.

He didn't bother to give me any prior instructions/idea before trying to pull out the car and I had every reason to assume that he was a professional driver, as he was sent by my insurance company, and that this is pretty much what he would do day in and day out. He asked me to get inside the car and once I did so, he pulled his truck right behind my car. He then asked me to change the gear to neutral which I did, and before I could have realized and applied the brakes, the towing truck had already hit my car from behind, as the truck driver had started pulling the car with no prior instructions. This caused some serious damages to my car from behind. I came out of the car and confronted the driver about it, but to my surprise, he wasn't even apologetic and just nodded his head in irritation and behaved rudely. Though he kept asking me to sign the service form confirming the service received.

I spoke to his manager and he assured me that I'll get the call next day in the morning since the office was being closed. However, I didn't receive any call afterwards even after calling to their office multiple times. The receptionist at the office told me every time that I would receive a call from her manager in 30-45 minutes, but I never received a call from them afterwards. I would never recommend their service to anyone and would suggest all of you to stay away from them. I wouldn't have given even a single star but that's the minimum required from Yelp.
