The clothes tree has been disappointing since the new management or owners took over.
Before the new "management " I would consign clothing and goods and would be paid promptly and appropriately.
I do not buy cheap and last time I consigned loads of womens and brand new children's clothing I got absolutely nothing because it didn't accumulate $10.
Today I helped a friend donate at LEAST a thousand dollars worth of merchandise. No one helped me with the heavy bags and boxes filled to the gills with beautiful items. A few of my trips in and out were disrespectfully blocked by workers in the entry way had the audacity to not even open doors for me.
One woman was polite and thankful.
while I was waiting for a tax receipt I saw a cute $3 scarf. I did not have my wallet and asked if I could stop back and pay for it. They said no and put it aside. I can come back for the $3 scarf after over thousands of dollars in donations. I will never be back. If they were truly into good will the $3 scarf would have been the least they could have done.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Patty B.San Diego, CA072Aug 25, 2023

What's great about the Clothes Tree, is that all the proceeds go right back into the community. And help a lot of programs throughout the state and I've helped a lot of people in need the staff work very hard and are so helpful.

While certain songs have tired to make thrift shops cool the Clothes Tree was cool way before then & way before the gentrification started & way before the tornado of '89.
This is the place to go if you want to find treasure!
Being in close proximity to Litchfield you have plenty of people with disposable income. Yupster New Yorkers & even celebrities have spent time dropping off items (& even picking some up!)
Be prepared to dig & you'll be rewarded. The Clothes Tress is a Bantam institution & all the sales go towards local charities so your purchase helps the community.Helpful 2Thanks 1Love this 1Oh no 0 - Denise S.Terryville, CT01Sep 11, 2014
This shop may be good for bargain hunters, however, it is disappointing for those who consign. Three months ago I consigned six items of fine clothing. I visited the store early Sept., looked for my items on the racks and found none. When I checked to see if anything sold, I was told none had. When I asked where the items were, the woman in charge said she did not know. She had no explanation, offered no apology and was anxious to be on her way. Bad experience.
