Chaplin's Barber Shop

I'm new to the area and was looking for a haircut place. After trying a few, I made an appointment at Chaplains. The stylist took the time to listen to what I wanted and make recommendations based on my hair. I also thought that the price was a value compared to some other places in the area.

Clean place. Appointment only. Didn't seem like she really cared about being there. Forgot to clean and shave down a lot of my edges under my mask and back of neck.

THE BEST! I can't say enough good things about this place. They consistently give me the best haircut I've gotten in New York. I'll always take someone who clearly knows what they're doing over some hipster spot where they seem to be making it up as they go.

Before Chaplin's opened (about five blocks from my apartment) I had tried just about everywhere within a twenty-minute walk. The cuts were fine, but I always felt like a few things were off. I was expecting similar with Chaplin's, but they defied my expectations. I've been back six or seven times now, and I love the cut every time. The ladies themselves couldn't be nicer!

If I had one complaint, it'd be that I wish they had music playing all the time. Sometimes they have oldies playing and then it's perfect.

I'm new to the neighborhood and chose to try Chaplin's as my new barbershop, based on solid reviews and what looked like a good, neighborhood-y vibe. Katya gave me a great haircut - she was attentive, and, since it was my first time, she made sure to check in periodically to ensure she was on the right track. The shop was also one of the better prepped places I've been in regards to Covid. Only one customer is allowed inside at a time, and they thoroughly cleaned all the equipment, furniture and floors before I sat down. The door was kept open to allow for airflow, as well. The shop is sacrificing more revenue for the safety of their customers, which I appreciate, especially as small businesses are suffering lately.

This place is devoid of the bells and whistles of other barbershops these days: no loud EDM music, no one pushing you to buy products, no barbers pressuring you to try something new with your hair. It was a simple, relaxing haircut.

Overall, I'm extremely happy with my experience here and will certainly be a repeat customer.

been a regular for 3 years, this is absolutely the best place around for a quality haircut. Katya is unbelievably friendly, very attentive and detail oriented. she cuts no corners. the place has a lowkey, neighborhoody vibe. super clean with strict covid protocols.

Great service and better haircut. The barber remembered me coming in with my ambitions to grow out my hair and 6 months later when I came back with a god awful flow she shook her head and helped me get all cleaned up.

It was a fast 25 minutes, for a uneven haircut and it was 35$, kinda not worth it but if you like stuff like this than you do you........ but I'm giving 3 stars because I'm not trying to be mean, but it could have been way better

Chaplin's has always been my favorite haircut place in Fort Greene. Once COVID hit, the business was closed and even once reopened, I felt uncomfortable doing anything "non-essential". However, I finally felt it was time to stop cutting my own hair and it was a great experience! I felt very safe. When you make an appointment, you are guaranteeing you are the only customer in there during your visit. They have hand sanitizer at the door and everyone wears masks the entire time. They even kept the door open for fresh air at my request. If you feel comfortable getting your haircut during this time, I highly recommend Chaplin's.

This is exactly the type of barber shop I have been looking for for some time now. Going into the barber shop felt like stepping into a different time apart from the city rush. There was old school jazz playing, and a comfortable environment. They were polite and friendly but didn't force small talk, which I appreciate, and most importantly, I got a great haircut at an incredibly reasonable price! I forget the name of who cut my hair, but she gave great attention to detail and checked with me before making decisions. I was in and out in about 40 minutes and got a free shot of bourbon to top it all off! I will definitely be going back.

Got a haircut here and will be back. Barber is a nice lady from Georgia (country not state). I liked that she took her time and didn't try to fly through it too fast. Paid attention to detail. Finished product looked good and better than other haircuts I've gotten in the area. Price was a little higher ($35) than others but every 7th one is free.
