Im so disappointed in this particular franchise. I had high expectations having gone to the Cafe Laguna in Ormoc.. and tried this out at Cebu Seaside Mall.
When we got our food I was so excited because I've gone to other Cafe Laguna restaurants. I was sadly disappointed. The first thing that came out was the crablets. I found hair on my crispy crablet appetizer! It was unacceptable.
The food was not fresh and it was just warm.. It seems like it didnt come out immediately and was sitting out for a while. When we got the seafood platter that came with crab, squid, clams and lato we tasted the clams and the squid and it was under cooked! The chewiness was not going to work for us. I felt they must've rushed our food and didn't care to make sure they were cooked all the way through.
The bulalo... wasn't great. It had very little meat. Another issue.. the dinuguan we ordered had hair, again in our food! The cook had straight short hair.. Is this on purpose?
When I though i'd be excited to get the talong(eggplant) salad it wasn't flavorful, it lacked the coconut flavor and needed more salt.
When my whole experience began to turn even more upside down.. I went to the restroom and there was a major infestation of little cockroaches roaming around the toilet, even on top of the toilet lid and many coming out from the sink. I was not the only one disturbed by it but my family also began seeing several more...
In our booth chairs there were little cockroaches coming out. Come to find out they just had an exterminator come to fumigate the restaurant the day before. That is a major no no! Why would have customers coming to eat if the restaurant had a major infestation of roaches.
We had a brand new server who did not put all of our orders we had ordered. We had asked for watermelon juice and he gave us a shake with almost all milk rather than watermelon. Some of our orders did not get placed even though we had properly gave our order to our waiter. It was the end of the day, and it was a major mistake choosing to to eat here.
The server we had didn't help and we spoke to the manager and they didn't bother to apologize and still wanted us to pay even though we terribly had to walk out.
It was a restaurant nightmare!Helpful 6Thanks 0Love this 5Oh no 0 - Toyo M.Edison, NJ563631220Mar 13, 2016First to Review
This is still the gold standard when it comes to Filipino food, above average when it comes to pricing but worth it imho. The ayala location will still be #1 but its nice to know they have a restaurant in this mall and this part of town.

Good location and decent price for Filipino food. However I am giving them only 3 stars because of the slow responding servers. We had to ask for our dessert several times. There were only five tables and still took them 5 minutes to give us our check. I have been here two times and each experience has been the same.

We'd been in Cafe Laguna in SM Seaside for several times. One of my favorite dishes is the "Calamares". Their calamares is one of the best I've ever tasted. I believe that they got a special sauce made for that. It's one of my best experiences eating a high class restaurant in Cebu.
