My husband and I grabbed lunch at Burrito Parrilla Mexicana in a week day. We were looking for something quick and hearty, and not a burger-type drive thru. We had driven past this spot and bookmarked it on our "to try" list in the neighborhood. We were so glad we finally had the chance to swing by.
We dined in and ordered:
3 taco dinner* (steak, chicken, carnitas)
steak burrito
2 fountain drinks
*dinner = with rice and beans for a few bucks extra
Their set-up inside is fast casual. Order at the counter and they will bring your food out to you. Drinks are self-serve. Our meal came with complimentary chips and house made salsa. The salsa was so good I could drink that stuff. The server also brought out 3 more bottles of salsa (salsa verde, a ghost-peppery spicy one, and a smoked chile one); I don't know the actual names of them but they were a trio of the best flavors to add to your meal.
They have horchata and agua de piña (pineapple water) in these self serve clear tubs where you'd typically see iced tea, lemonade, or some sort of slushie. I had 3 full-cup refills of the pineapple water (!!!) because it was that delicious. This might also be called their piña colada drink, I am not 100% sure. It's sugary, yes, and perhaps I was extra thirsty but the drink had little bits of pineapple pulp which was so so good. It was so refreshing and I've never had a drink like it before. Order a fountain drink and get it if you're here.
For my 3 taco dinner, I chose to get a chicken taco, steak taco, and a carnitas taco. You can choose your protein and steak is 50 cents extra per taco. I got the "dinner" add on with rice and beans to make it a meal, and you can choose from refried beans or black beans. Everything was tasty and the food came out quickly.
If I had to say one thing that wasn't really a thing is that the lime wedges that came with my meal had no juice. It's one of those limes when you squeezed, the pulp was all for show. The limes were dry and had no juice but I didn't bother to request more limes. Their trio of salsas that come in bottles (that they'll bring to your table with your food) is all you really need imo.
My husband got the burrito and we said out loud between our bites, "I can see ourselves being regulars at this place." Next time I'd love to try their tortas and guacamole. We will be back!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 1 - Dec 23, 2023
Although the price seems to be getting a little high, the flavors and quality remain strong. The restaurant is consistently busy and obviously it's because of the food. Eating in allows a pregame with chips and salsa and they are wonderful and fresh....the salsa has a lot of fresh onion and cilantro and probably is why I struggle with just eating a couple chips dunked in salsa.
I always get steak tacos with corn tortillas with extra cilantro and onion. The tacos come out on a plain white rectangular ceramic plate and the rice and beans are on one end and the tacos stretch across the rest of the plate. Adding the tomatillo salsa adds just the perfect amount of spice. The refried beans are smooth and flavorful. I've been here many times and they have never been dry or lumpy. The rice is also flavorful and warm.
This location offers great food and the employees make it a pleasant experience. The dining area itself is starting to really show its wear and tear with the masses coming through their doors each day but that can be overlooked when you experience any of their authentic food. The food and service here are really good! I had the tacos al pastor, which really impressed me. Al pastor is slabs of roasted, seasoned pork stacked on a rotating spit, just like gyros.
They are accompanied by servings of rice and beans. You get a choice of corn or flour tortillas. It smells heavenly outside the place, by the way. You can smell the meat cooking. Everything seems as fresh as it can be here.
I highly recommend this place.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Alex M.Naperville, IL1181Apr 14, 2024
Always delicious authentic Mexican food. Service is fast and food always fresh. Been going here since it has opened and the quality has always been great. Though prices have gone up it has been in line with all other restaurants. Still will go for the delicious food.

This was a delicious lunch, today I had the steak fajitas, I wish my pictures had smell and sound, you would hear the sizzling sounds of my steak, peppers and onions, and of course if you could smell this you would jump in your car and head over for a great tasting meal, you should give Burrito Parrilla a try

Highly overpriced, however the food and wait make up for it. Mostly. Workers and the woman taking my order was very kind, however seating was a bit confusing. I've been here several times and my opinion is yet to change. I recommend the horchata.

I've dined in and have taken out from Burrito Parilla on many occasions. I find their food to be good, service to be excellent. When I crave Mexican food, I head to BR.

I just paid over $18 for a burrito including a 99 cent charge to add cheese and sauce on top. There was barely any sauce at all. I don't recommend making it suizo just to add cheese you can barely taste and no sauce. I basically got a burrito which is a tortilla with some lettuce and lots of carnitas meat. There was barely any refried beans. They smeared it in the tortilla so very little I had to really look to see if they even put any on it. She had asked if I wanted sour cream and sauce too and I said yes, but never received it in my bag in drive thru. I drive off without checking my bad. I had asked how many churros you get for the $5.99 price and she said 4. It ended up being two actual churros in there regular size cut into 4 pieces. I would never had ordered the churros for that price. When I was in school our foreign language teacher would get churros from a man and it would be 25 cents for one long churros or 4 for $1. Even downtown Chicago the guys will sell you a churro for $1 outside the museums. I felt like icecream should have at least been included at that price. Now I remember why I haven't eaten here since they opened. The prices for most items are way overpriced even for this economy right now. I'd rather go to El Famous Burrito where I know their burrito has a balance of all the fixings. So just don't order churros from here for $5.99 it is a rip off. This will be the last time I visit sorry just because for the price it is not worth it to me. I feel so ripped off. The other day I had two full meals for the price I paid today from Johnny's Red Hot dogs place. You can even get a whole large pizza from Dominoes with two toppings for $10 for less than what I paid today. The only thing I can honestly say about this place that I remember from the first time was the free refills on horchata. This is the only place that lets you do that.. and that could be the only reason I would ever return if I wanted to sit inside and just talk to someone and gorge on horchata. Also the burrito meat and portion is great I just wish they had the right amount of cheese lettuce sour cream and beans in it too. The carnitas meat could be a little tastier too, but I am part Mexican and I know what I am saying here.. it is good- but it could be even better. The service is great and courteous so keep up the good job there. I know inside is kept clean too. This is not a romantic ambiance place, but a semi fast food place inside. A great place to take the family.

Burritos contain too much rice and beans for what they are charging. Fortunately, there are a number of better Mexican food choices in the area.
