Felt like family. Haircut looked great. A real old fashioned fade. Will definitely go back next time I need a game day cut

Tony is a great barber who takes pride in his work. I've only been a couple times but he makes you feel like a regular. You may have to wait a bit since he doesn't take call aheads, but to me it's worth it. His prices are great. I would highly recommend.
FYI: He is CASH ONLY! (However he did let me step out and go to the atm to withdraw some cash after my haircut)Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 0 - Mary M.Lincoln Park, Chicago, IL023Aug 1, 2021
So I'm from Chicago and had been visiting Athens for the weekend. It was super hot and, not being used to this heat, I decided to get my mohawk cleaned up. I saw this place as I was walking around with my father and thought I should give it a shot, plus I was already overdue. Everyone was super friendly and awesome and the place had this really cool atmosphere, like you could spend a whole day just hanging out (as a stylist in Chicago, I highly value that quality in a shop). Tony was the one who faded me up and TO DATE this has been the best haircut I have ever gotten at a barbershop. He was so kind, patient, and super considerate of my needs, which made the whole experience fun and relaxing. No other barber has been able to do what this man did with my near translucent hair and if I could add more stars to this review, 1000% I would. Should I find myself back in Athens in the near future, I will definitely make Brown's the first stop on the list.
P.s. Tony is literally the kind of barber I aspire to be up north. Period.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - The Ghost Of Anthony B.Athens, GA02Dec 9, 2019
Located on the historical "Hot Corner", Browns Barber Shop is a family owned business that has been around for decades. This is a no thrills, no frills barber shop. Old school, just the way I like it. Walk in on any given day and its like the United Nations, you'll find a diverse group of people from all socioeconomic and ethnic backgrounds looking for a fresh fade or trim. These guys are the best in town so be prepared for a wait. In the meantime, enjoy the trash talk and banter about a myriad of subjects. If you're of the caucasian (or straight haired) persuasion ask for Tony or George.

First time getting a fade and decided to check this place out. Tony was so cool and I got exactly what I wanted! Will definitely be back soon. Highly recommend.

I come here every once in a while to get a fade and I'm always satisfied with the result. I'm used to Korean ladies speeding and cheating through the haircut process so it was nice to have George( my first time here) and tony the following bc they both took their time and completely finished the job masterfully .The people here can cut anyone's hair well honestly. The only drawback is wait time for the haircut, but the environment is awesome and everyone is laughing and chatting so it's not bad at all

Nobody has reviewed Brown's yet? That's interesting considering how many people get cut here. If your hair is more coarse, this is definitely your shop as opposed to Mr. Haircut a couple blocks away. Tony is the only guy I trust to cut me here. He's very detailed and skilled with his craft. I've been cut twice with other people at Brown's and both times were pretty gawd-awful. If you're trying to look sharp, Tony's your man. Three things though, Tony gets distracted easily by the conversation of his coworkers so don't be surprised when the man walks away A LOT. Second, dude is higher than a kite; he'll say a lot of stuff that doesn't make sense so just roll with it. And finally, he does a first come, first serve basis; no appointments. Even if you pull up at the crack of dawn, there will be people there. So always expect a wait time of 30 min or more.

Favorite barber shop in Athens. I did a fair share of looking around Athens for a barber and also got a fair share of bad cuts but once I went to browns I was set. If you need a nice cut, go see my man tony. You can wait for a good minute some days but it's always worth it.

best barber in Athens, no question. Tony is the best but there can be a wait for him so sometimes I end up just choosing the mate next to Tony who also does a really good job. Just waiting to get a haircut is worth it as Brown's is very much a spot people will go to hangout in. It's very cheap, like $13, and they can trim beards as well but Im not sure the cost for that. Brown's is awesome
