I thought I might have strep throat, so wanted to get checked out. They took me as a walk-in around 5:30pm without an appointment. That was the good part.
The bad parts:
-- They only take cash, which seems shady to me and means I can't use my medical savings benefit card.
-- They tried to give me an unneccessary EKG. For a sore throat? I think they're scamming the insurance companies with this unneeded test. I declined and they let it go.
-- They then tried to schedule a follow up appointment for three months from now. For a sore throat? Why? If there's a problem, I'll come back. If not, it will be a faint memory in three months. This seems like overtreatment.
-- The doctor wanted to prescribe antibiotics, though he said it's not strep. If it's a virus I shouldn't be taking antibiotics for it. But I didn't argue. They said they wired the prescription to the pharmacy.
-- The pharmacy never received the prescription anyway.
In short, I guess I'd go here if I was in absolute need of immediate medical care and had no other choices. But I wouldn't choose to go back for any other reason, not if I have another option.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Carol P.West Roxbury, Boston, MA0131May 4, 2018
I just changed doctors to Dr. Malik (Internist) and Dr. ElDarawy (Gastro) because I am no longer working in the City.
I had an appointment with Dr. Malik and learned on that day that he also takes walk-ins, and does not give priority to those with appointments. I waited an hour, but he did a very thorough history and exam, and spent plenty of time answering all my questions. I would have been sitting on a train for two hours round trip if I stayed with my previous doctor, so this hour wait was not a big deal. Also, I've seen doctors in Manhattan where I've waited for 1-2 hours even though I had an appointment. I like the idea that if I'm sick I can just walk in, as opposed to my prior NYC doctor where I had to beg for a quick appointment if I was sick.
Dr. ElDarawy doesn't take walk-ins, and I got to see him very soon after my appointment time. Again, he was very thorough with my prior history, and answered all my questions about my future treatment.
The support staff throughout the office are extremely kind and efficient. I would definitely recommend this place. I gave it four stars because they could use some new furniture in the waiting room.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - J L.Brooklyn, NY24859Aug 17, 2013First to Review
Wait was an hour with labs included. MD spent enough time and was thorough. Staff was pretty good also. I was surprised. My regular MD was way too crowded and I had a situation that required medical care.
