Went in to be a first time donor. I was told I needed proof of my residence along with my ID. Went home to get a piece of mail like I was instructed. Came back and presented everything, then I was told by a different lady that I didn't need my piece of mail that I went home to get because my address was on my ID. Duh! Then when I get my veins checked I'm told to go drink a gallon and a half of water and come back tomorrow. After I already told her I drank plenty of water I just have deep veins and I've never had any problems donating before. It's super frustrating when people don't look at you as a case by case basis. Frustrated, I ended up going to Talecris where I have gone before, which was out of my way but at least they have their stuff together. Usually in and out of there in an hour or 2.

This place has gone way downhill since KED purchased them. They let me know ahead of time that my visit would an extra 30 min because of setting up a new account with KED. Fast forward 1hr 45min, I still was not on the donor floor. I ended up leaving before I could make a donation because who has 3-4 hrs for what used to be a pretty good process where it took an hour tops on average? They also decided to lower the compensation amount for making a donation.

over all this place is a good place to donate your plasma but one of the staff there that is a young man is really disrespectful and unprofessional. I made a complaint about it before but he even found my Facebook and was trying to bring my personal life at his work and make fun of my job . he had my heart rate so high I could not donate yesterday I been trying to contact the manager but this place just lets staff disrespected their customers.

Went back earlier to see if maybe those 3 times were a fluke showed up around 6:20 & I was the THIRD person in line! Go up to the kiosk after they finally open & it tells me I'm not eligible for donation. I go see a staff member & they are very confused as there are no notes in my profile. They send me over to see medical AGAIN. Apparently the two separate times they had taken samples from me, it was done incorrectly, and they have to see what's going on. As I'm waiting with medical, I ask if he could help me skip some of the line as I was third originally, (and had now waited over an hour) & now about 10-13 people had gotten in front of me.
"Nah, I can't help you with the line, nothing I can do" John says, without skipping a beat, without even looking away from his computer. So basically, "sorry we messed up your donation experience, now you get to wait an additional 3 hours, IF we allow you to donate after OUR mistake!" :)
So they are still waiting on results after a week from collecting my sample (for the second time). So I drove all the way out there, waited 40 min for them to open up, then another 20-30 in line & waiting for someone to help me, alllll that for them to not even apologize & offer something? Anything? Even a simply apology would've been enough to stop me from writing this second review.
I've said it before, & I'll say it again. BPL is a joke of a company, they do NOT care about your time, pay, or health. They do not staff correctly, and often have one person doing the poking, while 5 people train under them. I have yet to see more than 2 actual employees on the donation floor. I have yet to see more than 4 of their 30-40 chairs used at a time.
If you're looking to donate, try BioLife, CSL Plasma, or Grifols. My friend went to CSL plasma a few days ago & had about 16 people in front of him in line & was poked within 30 minutes, BPL can't even get the first person in line at open poked that quickly.
However, I congratulate you BPL. You have now made me write two 1-star reviews, earning you TWO out of ten starsHelpful 2Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 0Aug 16, 2022Previous reviewThis place is absolutely the slowest plasma donation center I've been to. I have been here on three different occasions with ample time in my schedule, & without fail they always find a way to waste 2-3 hours before I'm even donating.
I arrived today at 6:35AM. 25 minutes before they open their doors, & there was already about 10 people waiting in line outside. Sure. Not BPL's fault. At 7:05, they finally let us in the door & everyone starts on the kiosk, then makes their way over to get vitals checked. Over an hour passes AFTER I finish the kiosk questionnaire & I'm still behind roughly 3-4 people. I look over & they only have ONE person checking vitals. Finally they add a second, & this only makes the process go by slower, as they chit chat for minutes in between customers.
TWO hours after arriving, I finally get my vitals checked & now I have to go see medical for a screening I did my previous visit, & when I tried to tell the employee, they shrugged it off & sent me to medical anyway.
I finally get a look in the donation room, & there's like 7 out of 25 beds being used.
I understand there are rules & regulations set in place I may not know about, but every other donation center I've been in has been staffed correctly, & the employees actually do their job efficiently, & the LONGEST I've ever taken to finish the entire process is about two hours.
BPL is a joke that has absolutely no care in the world about it's members' time. Keep in mind, one of the times I came, I asked an employee when they recommend coming, & they suggested this.
It is now almost 9AM, & I go into work at 10. The actual donation process usually take me about 40-60 minutes. Going to have to leave for the third time without being seen. Cannot believe I wasted my morning for the third time.
P.S. please get a front desk receptionist, I cannot tell you how many people I see stand at the desk waiting for someone, anyone to help them with a simple question, & how many times I've heard that damned phone ring with everyone ignoring it.
P.P.S.
Just heard an employee FINALLY answer the phone & tell a customer "we're a bit busy right now, but the line should die down by the time you get here." Literally 26 people waiting for their vitals to be taken. DO NOT COME HERE. DO NOT LISTEN TO EMPLOYEES. Absolutely nobody knows what's going on, & is totally guessing. - Jay A.SoMa, San Francisco, CA52Aug 5, 2022
Unbelievable wait times ,always a change in staff which says a lot about how bad management is.but a very clean center .
Very slow at screenning process Is where biggest wait time is .
Management seems to think it's funny instead of jumping in to help

this place is a joke. they have new owners and are run far worse; less money even though they make almost $2,000 from your donations. sent my husband home with $25 after THEY fucked up - his arm has a fat, hard bruise now and they tried to recall his red blood cells... when the complication was happening during a recall. dumbest workers ever and they know they are profiting off all the people trying to make ends meet. they also change their hours constantly but don't update Google all the time. panhandling may get you more than this place lol.

I am a frequent donor at BPL in Orlando, FL. I was recently deferred for 2 months due to a slightly low protein level therefore upon my return, there was a new phlebotomist there. Before the process, I emphasized I had been injured by other phlebotomists and needed to verify she was experienced. The very nice young lady, Glenda, told me she would take a look at my veins and let me know. Unfortunately Glenda was so new she was unaware if she began putting my information into the machine, she would be forced to do the plasma recovery whether she or I felt comfortable with it. I asked for an employee I was more familiar with which was Fabi. Fabi appeared irritated to even walk over and look at my veins. As a matter of fact, Fabi never looked at my veins. Fabi immediately told Glenda she would do it but because Glenda entered my information into the machine she was not supposed to. Glenda advised she didn't know that. I asked to speak to the manager. Fabi called for Evelyn. Evelyn came out and stated if Glenda entered my information into the machine she had to perform the process. I advised Evelyn I had been injured by inexperienced employees in the past and an injury could prompt a deferral. Evelyn quickly stated " That's why you sign the consent form." I then asked if I was injured, could I then get a senior phlebotamist. Evelyn said that I could.
In other words, regardless if the donor is comfortable or not, the management will force inexperienced techs to insert a needle into a donor even when someone else is requested. I feel this is very poor customer service and lacks any amount of compassion for donors who have had bad experiences at a facility.
In my situation, neither Fabi nor Evelyn did anything to reassure me that Glenda was experienced and would be the right person for the process. Evelyn could have allowed someone I was more comfortable with to perform the task but her lack of compassion and respect for a donor who had been injured in the past prevented her from acting in a customer service capacity.
Glenda later told me she was very competent and would have no problem getting the needle inserted. Glenda actually took time to work with me to make me feel more comfortable.
The needle insertion went well and the process was smooth. I definitely appreciate it.
Please remember you need the donors. There are too many plasma facilities donors can go to when they are treated poorly. Leaving incompetent techs in place is traumatizing. I'm glad Brian is gone.
I've had a few negative experiences at this facility but all in all, it's not a bad place if you know what to say and when.
Techs will brag about being able to defer you if you do anything they don't like. I was called a "Karen" when I mentioned I was not the one who reeked of Marijuana just before getting processed to go to the back. And yes, it was a tech who referred to me as a "Karen" not the donor. Nat will raise her voice at you if you are seen out of your seat and moving around.
It would appear the facility is understaffed. They are not available by telephone. Simply, no one will answer the phone even though you can hear the ringing.
Nurse Destiny is wonderful and appears to care about the donors.
If you are an experienced donor, this place is a good option. It seems some of the team members have lost their way in respect to true customer service.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0
