Dr.farhang is the greatest I'm really glad I came to her. Her work is amazing she's super honest with what you need done and what to do , she's super gentle so I didn't feel a thing unlike others who pull you and give you a good beating and her staff is just as great very happy group make me feel calm and in good Hands when I'm in there .definitely recommend to all .

When I first contacted this office, I was told I would need to pay the entire cost of the services performed up front and then Bonita Smiles Dentistry, "As a favor to me" would send the bill to my insurance and I would need to get reimbursed by my insurance.

I called my insurance and they told me to find another dentist. I should only be charged my co-pay.

When I called Bonita Smiles Dentistry back they changed what they said and relayed my insurance was correct. I would only be charged my co-pay. Although I did have to sign something when I went in that said the costs were only an estimate and I would need to pay whatever my insurance did not cover. Kinda seems like the office would know what my insurance would cover. Being that they accepted and were used to dealing with my insurance.

I am in the process of having invisaligner treatment and am ready for my final retainers. Before this my orthodontist wanted a green light from my dentist.

This would be my fist visit at Bonita Smiles Dentistry. I have been seeing a dentist in Tecate for the past 15 years who is HANDS DOWN THE BEST DENTIST I've ever had. She always had MY best interest in my care. She never inflated the care or cost.

I had no insurance. My total payment with her is less than my co-pays here. But I recently obtained insurance and thought I would try to find a dentist in the states.

At my first visit at Bonita Smiles Dentistry, Dr. Ibarra seemed nice. She spoke Spanish. I felt right at home coming from my previous Mexican Doctor. When she stared measuring pockets, I in no uncertain terms told her "I would not be accepting periodontal surgery."

The assistants who did my xrays were nice. Also Spanish speaking.

When I reviewed the treatment plan at home, I noticed a procedure "apically positioned flap". I didn't know what this was and had not "Googled" it yet so I messaged the office and asked if this was a surgical procedure. I relayed that I would be going directly to my orthodontist after my first visit with Bonita Smiles Dentistry and have impressions made for temporary retainers. I told them if it was surgery, I was concerned that my gums would be sore and stitched up. The goop they make the impressions with might get in the surgery site. I asked if it was surgery, if it was OK to wait until after my orthodontic treatment was completed to do it.

I HAVE NEVER RECEIVED A RESPONSE BACK FOR THIS CONCERN.

Finally when I called, I was told that it was not a surgical procedure, but just a deep cleaning. I "Googled" "apically positioned flap" and it most definitely is a surgery. I've attached a photo.

If I would have continued with "Bonita Smiles Dentistry", and let them do the procedure. I would not have been to get my temporary retainers at my orthodontist. My teeth would have started shifting back.

I let Bonita Smiles Dentistry know I was going to the orthodontist directly after the procedure. I gave them my Orthodontist's info. They can not claim ignorance of this.

In addition, somehow I went from my long time dentist saying everything was OK, to needing around $14,000 worth of treatment. I'll get a second opinion on that.

I will not be going back to Bonita Smiles Dentistry. Unfortunately, my insurance only allows one set of full moth xrays every 24 months so I will need to pay out of pocket for this at my next dentist.

UPDATE 2/28/24: Thank God I Got A Second Opinion From Another Dentist.

I have been to this office twice and both times I was quoted with unnecessary service and some cosmetic work that I didn't need. I did deny the extra work but the point was to respectfully ask us before shoving all this expensive work in front of me. All I wanted was a preventative checkup and some cleaning. I didn't get cleaned and was told I needed a bunch of work done. Some of the services such as a deep clean I understand I needed but stacking multiple services and giving an estimate that is high in costs and out of pocket gave me the impression that gouging customers before taking care of our needs and hearing our situations and budgets were not a priority.

It could have just been my circumstance and an off day but the same situation happened twice. I just wanted to share my experience cause some will have a great experience but in my case it wasn't.

Today I had the most unprofessional dental visit of my life courtesy of Dr. Farhang at Bonita Smiles Dentistry. I have not had an issue with her in the past but today I learned not to ever question her work.

I've never been berated while sitting in a dentist's chair with the dentist's hands and drill in my mouth because I told her I could not chew food small enough to swallow with my new (very expensive) implants and crowns. The new crowns are very short compared to my other teeth and don't touch my bottom teeth. She put that grinding paper in there to check the bite and it slid right out with no resistance. Apparently it is SUPPOSED to be that way, and also I CAN chew my food small enough to swallow according to her because she says the bite is fine. Wow. Just wow. She did agree to replace the faulty bridge (in the middle of a giant argument where she argued with every single thing I said and interrupted me constantly until I finally had to ask her to stop) so I will update this review after that happens.

Picture this: I strolled into the clinic with a cracked tooth the side of a dormant volcano, I anticipated a dental experience that would leave me feeling like I'd gone toe-to-toe with a heavyweight boxer. But oh, how wrong I was! As soon as I entered Bonita Smile Dental, I was greeted with warm smiles that made me forget I was even there for a dental visit. I almost asked if I could do more work, but that what be a little weird.
Now, let's talk about the star of the show, Dr. Gazhal. This woman is a dental virtuoso, a maestro of molars, a Picasso of pearly whites. She took one look at my sad little crown-less tooth and went to work with the grace of a ballet dancer and the precision of a surgeon. I barely felt a thing! Her needle work was so impeccable that I half-expected her to break into a sewing circle after the procedure. I was in awe of her mastery, and my jaw dropped (metaphorically, of course) at the painless experience she provided.
But the praise doesn't stop with Dr. Gazhal alone. Her staff deserves a standing ovation too! From the receptionist, who is the human embodiment of sunshine, to the dental hygienist who should be a dentist in her own right, everyone in the office was exceptional. They made me feel like family, minus the awkward family reunions.
To sum it up, Bonita Smile Dental is not just a dental clinic; it's a place where magic happens. Dr. Gazhal and her team are the wizards of dentistry, turning dreaded dental procedures into painless performances. The only regret I have is not scheduling a dental visit sooner! So, if you're in need of dental care that's so good it'll make you smile wider than a Cheshire cat, head straight to Bonita Smile Dental. I guarantee you won't be disappointed.

We are family of 4 so happy to go to the dentist every times we have an appointment with them. We love the doctor and all the staffs keep up the good work.

Had a great experience. I had avoided the dentist for the last 7 years due to having bad experiences with past dentists. This office has great customer service and makes you feel comfortable. They have the lastest technology and really strive to put your worries at ease. I feel so silly for being nervous.

I cannot believe the experience I've had so far here. Like a lot people, I avoid the dentist due to previous terrible experiences. I recently cracked a very old filling and was in pain. Dr. Farhang and her staff recognize how anxious I am and go above and beyond to make me comfortable. The entire staff is extremely caring and helpful. Dr. Farhang is amazing at explaining what she's doing and making sure you are comfortable and pain free. I feel Comfortable coming here and finally fixing the issues I've been having.

I have not yet been to this dentist, and I was having trouble with my insurance informing their office that I was eligible. Julia took my calls, and she was very polite, helpful, and encouraging. She finally called the insurance company on my behalf, and got it all worked out. I do have to wait quite awhile before my appointment, but if that goes as well as my conversation with Julia, then I know it will be a pleasure.
