A great place for Chinese food! Plenty of parking. The inside is kinda dated but feels kinda homey.
We chrysanthemum tea which paired well with the food. The crab meat with fish maw soup came out first. It has a decent amount of fish maw and enough to fill 4 small bowls. It's basically like an egg drop soup, and it has a nice chicken broth flavor. I didn't notice too much crab meat. We got the beef stir fried noodles with sauce. It comes with flat rice noodles that are cooked in a wok. The sauce is thicker and kinda like a gravy. The beef was very tender. It came with pieces of yuchoy, carrots, and shiitake mushrooms.
The salt and pepper seafood didn't seem like it was on the menu, but they brought us exactly what we asked for. The breading was very light and crispy. It was seasoned well and the shrimp were big. The yuchoy was standard, stir fried with some garlic but still tasty.
All of it was served with a bowl of rice. The service was efficient. I will definitely come back if I'm in the area and want some Chinese food!Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Amanda L.Doraville, GA01Feb 17, 2024
I work in the Chamblee-Tucker area and was craving Chinese food during my lunch break today and decided to give Bo Bo's a try and wow I am so freaking glad I did!!!
The Atmosphere: larger restaurant that's dimly lit and decked out in traditional Chinese restaurant decor, complete with receipt tickets with Mandarin scribbles, plastered to the front "kiosk" area.
The Service: Fast and to the point. Just how I like it.
The food: DELICIOUS. I ordered the Crab Rangoon and Mongolian Beef with white rice. The Crab Rangoon here is HEAVENLY. The savory-but-not-too-sweet filling is elevated by generous amount of REAL CRAB MEAT. The fried dough isn't overly fried to oblivion and the subtle hint of sesame oil is superb. (I've had crab Rangoon be so crispy, the pointed ends cut my mouth)
HIGHLY recommend! The Mongolian Beef was pretty solid. Not the best I've ever had but certainly not the worst. The beef was plentiful and oh so tender. The sauce was a little sweet for my liking and the veggies were somewhat undercooked but that's just a personal preference.. I am not a fan of veggies with a "snap."
If you're ever in the area, TRY THIS PLACE OUT, IT WILL NOT DISAPPOINT!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Feb 12, 2024
Went here for a late night dinner and was somewhat disappointed. What felt like authentic Asian Cuisine was jaded with food that lacked seasoning and flavors from Asia.
We ordered everything fried rice and the only flavor in the rice was the raisins...! And who puts raisin in fried rice?!! The friend dumplings were okay nothing too broad about and the beef lo mien was average.
I can't say I would recommend zzzz while experience was uneventful and all I remember was the food disappointing me.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - 480276461Jan 31, 2024Updated review
Still five stars in my book. Bo Bo Garden has been a staple in my life for well over 10 years. I no longer live in ATL, but every time I'm there, Bo Bo Garden sees me.
The Hong Kong Lobster STILL reigns supreme, but also give the Salt and Pepper Shrimp (shell on) a try-- they are divine!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 3Oh no 0Jan 1, 2015Previous reviewThis is my favorite Chinese restaurant pretty much ever. If not ever, then definitely in Atlanta. This is authentic as it gets! I've been here at least 20 times and don't have a single complaint about the food or the service. The Clams with Black Bean Sauce are heavenly, as is the Hong Kong Style Lobster. If you're not a lobster fan, then get the Hong Kong Style Fish. Clams with Black Bean Sauce are my addiction, so it's been hard for me to not order that, but I've recently decided to finally try everything on the menu, so I highly recommend the Stir Fried Rice Noodle with Beef as well. The food here come out pretty fast, but it's alway fresh and delicious. This is NOT your Chinese takeout spot where soggy sesame/general tsao chicken and sad little egg rolls and lo mein are the staple, this is the real deal! Definitely a MUST HAVE!

We went to Bo Bo Garden for dinner tonight. The owner & the waiter were great! We got Chicken Dumplings, Sweet & Sour Fish Fillet, House Special Steak, XO Egg Tofu, Walnut Shrimp, Crispy Garlic Chicken & Snow Pea Leaf with Minced Garlic. We have always go to Bo Bo Garden because the food there is amazing! One of our favorite restaurants in Atlanta.

so traditional that they have live fish swimming around in tanks. you can choose which fish you want to be cooked!
when we walked in, we were immediately greeted. there were a few other tables occupied. we came as a group of two on a thursday around noon. we were immediately brought drinks and given menus.

fantastic. (especially for a chinese restaurant. many times they don't care lol) they're very attentive and polite. they checked up on us several times and if we were looking around for them, they would immediately come help.

I pretty much almost exclusively come here on Christmas or a holiday because it's open. I never had a bad meal here. There are some things I like more than others but I always leave full. We came on Christmas and had reservations so that makes things easier. This place is always packed on Christmas and a little less so on Thanksgiving.
My favorite dish in this restaurant is probably the xo tofu. The fried eggplant, steak and peppers, fried chicken, pork were all good. The only thing I didn't love was the lobster. I realized that I actually don't love lobster more than I love butter and the lobster was just a excuse for me to eat butter. I can also be a lazy eater.
I think between the 6 of us and 8 dishes, we were pretty full. The total came out to $50 a person but that because the two lobsters ran for $80.
Would I come here again?
Yes. I like the food here.Helpful 0Thanks 1Love this 1Oh no 0 - Juliana H.Atlanta, GA0517Apr 23, 2024
The food is good, the price is fair. The service is typically Chinese restaurant, to the point

If you want authentic Cantonese Chinese food, look no further. This spot is absolutely it. My family came here for dinner and ordered a slew of dishes, all which were truly incredible. My dad has been a Chinese chef for over 40+ years and he agreed that this spot has all the flavors spot on, without any dishes being too heavy or Americanized. I will personally say - do not come here expecting incredible service or Americanized dishes like Orange Chicken. Be respectful and mindful of any language barriers or dishes that might not be familiar to you. There's incredible food in every culture & if you come to Bo Bo Garden, expect to get the real deal but don't yuck someone else's yum!
Excited for the next time to come back here :)Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Carol M.SC, SC021Feb 25, 2024
Reminds me of Honto's that was the very best! I love the salt and pepper squid, the eggplant hot pot and it's always filled with Asians which says a lot about how authentic it is. Last time I went one of my friends who doesn't love Asian food had the beef filet with veggies and it was absolutely wonderful. This makes me hungry for some Bo Bo.
