Bender Eye

I wished that I found Dr. Bender sooner. Better late than never I supposed. My co-worker has been with Dr. Bender for a decade+ and shared his information with me. Many doctors just see you and forget you but Dr. Bender and his staff actually remember you. :)

Dr. Bender is very patient, thorough when doing eye exam and very knowledgeable. Super great with children. Besides doing eye exams for glasses, he also does Contact Lenses exam along with Neurolenses. He provided contact lenses samples until your contact lenses order arrived. The brand he used also provides rebate so after insurance and rebates, it helps alleviate financial burden immensely. Ask about daily contact lenses vs. weekly contact lenses if you decide on contact lenses.

Dry eyes - his office also treat dry eyes issues but out of pocket cost.

Neurolenses - I was skeptical at first due to extremely high out-of-pocket cost but wow - it is day and night. Too much info to type here but you can research info online.

Eyes x-ray: extra out of pocket but he can further exam your eye balls/veins inside your eyes if they are healthy. Optional.

His office staff are always wonderfully patient with my many issues and questions/phone calls/emails. They will thoroughly check all your insurances and specific co-pay and how much each steps/exam/products cost so you can make your decision. They are very up to date with technology from email, online documents, email/text reminders and pick-ups. Receipt of Payment are broken down and itemized each cost.

I felt well taken care of at Dr. Bender's office so I am paying forward with this review so more people can get the help they need to better care for their eyes.

The office location is perfectly in the heart of Tustin and near Irvine.

Called Bender Eye on a Friday afternoon, in a little bit of a panic, because my husband had a piece of sheet metal stuck in his eye. Having never been there before , and it being a Friday afternoon, my odds were against us, but they pulled through and went above and beyond for us.
Receptionist called me back and said that she spoke with Dr. Bender and he was going to move a few people around to make time to see us. They did let us know that there might be a wait, but that was the least of our worries. They were so helpful and accommodating. While he waited, Dr. Bender came out to personally administer some numbing eye drops so that my husband wouldn't have to wait in pain. Within the hour he had the metal out of my husbands eye and sent him on his way with a follow up appt for Tuesday and some antibiotics.
Seriously 100/10. Such an amazing group of professionals that I will recommend to anyone looking for a local Optometrist!

Great doctors, poor business practices. Got bait and switched for my annual eye exam. When they called to confirm my appointment, they also confirmed that I would only be paying my insurance co-pay. When I left to pay, they charged me $50 for a lens fitting that I didn't ask for, nor told about when I signed in.

Very stupid move, I probably would have approved the extra charge if they'd told me beforehand.

Hope the extra $50 was worth my lost future business and the $500 I still need to spend on contacts/sunglasses.

I can't say enough good things about Dr. Bender and his whole staff. I have difficult eyes with multiple problems and he has been able to prescribe glasses for me. Not only is he personable and caring, but knowledgeable and proficient. In the past I've had optometrists get impatient with my eye issues, but he has been so caring and patient, never making me feel like my exam was taking too long or was too problematic. I now have glasses that have me seeing better than I ever have before!

Dr. Bender himself is truly fantastic - he has a wealth of knowledge and expertise, and always takes the time to answer my questions and explain everything in detail. I walked in with a special light that attaches to our glasses worn by one of our orthodontic team members. It lost a special screw and we needed to repair this somehow, and quickly. Dr. Bender and team to the rescue! I was greeted by a very friendly member of their team. Temp check, very clean and safe environment too.
They could not have been kinder, and this wasn't a scheduled appointment in their day, and they didn't know me. They happily fixed the light attachment for my glasses, and I was on my way.
It's so refreshing to receive such kindness and great customer service. Thank you Bender Eye! I'm super impressed!

This review is sooo overdue! But I love the staff here so much, I had to make sure to leave a review ~

Everyone here is so accommodating and super nice. I've had issues with getting my nose pads to stay on and they've changed them out numerous times and each time, they were so generous enough to fix them for me, and fast too!

Thank you to tammy, particularly, as she was extremely nice enough to get me my same exactly frame, but a brand new one to stop the nose pads from constantly falling off. Ever since, it's been holding up well!

Courteous attentive staff, the Dr I saw was amazing, she spent time with me and we talked over all my concerns. I really felt like what I said mattered. I am very happy with my choice here!! Highly recommended!

We are so grateful to Dr. Bender for his vigilant diagnosis, and for the tremendous ongoing care provided by Dr. Lang for my 7 year old daughter. She is eager to participate in her weekly vision therapy classes, secondary to Dr. Lang's creative and engaging program.
