I used to accompany my children to Beatty Park when they were little and both of them turned out to be strong swimmers thanks to the excellent teaching skills of the kind and caring staff. I enrolled myself for adult swimming lessons in July this year and it has turned out be a very good decision on my part. Now when I visit Beatty Park, my daughter gets to be my plus one - talk about role reversal!

It was strange returning to Beatty Park after such a long period of time, but I was pleasantly surprised to find the leisure centre has expanded and changed for the better. It is impressive to note the wonderful service is still constant, it's nice to know some things don't change.

Beatty Park Leisure Centre is run by the City of Vincent and offers a wide range of facilities. There are both outdoor and indoor pools, a heated water play area for the little ones, water slides and fitness studios. Spa, sauna and steam room facilities are also available. If you require a crèche for your little ones, you can rest assured they will be well cared for by the friendly staff. The centre is open 7 days a week, which is really handy.

Visit Beatty Park and enjoy all it has to offer!

I reckon after 91 check ins, I might have enough experience to give this place a fair rating.

I go here because it's on the way to work. And when I work out before work, I don't want to have to think. Because I'm not awake yet. At 6am, there are a raft of classes to choose from - yoga, cardio, bike & pool or your stock standard own workout in the gym if you prefer.

Membership is reasonable. Residents of the Town of Vincent get a 10% discount* and if you make friends with someone who bought an Entertainment Book, you can score $100 off if you are prepared to pay for 12 months up front. I did both and when I do the sums, that means for me open access to all areas and classes for around $12 per week. Not bad.

Beatty Park has some enthusiastic staff, willing to try new equipment or class styles, above the Les Mills collection. At present, they are trialling these bizzos called 'gym sticks' which consists of a couple of resistance bands on either end of a padded pole. I describe the class as a blend of pilates, CX and pump. I also describe it as kick arse hard. It's a great challenge at 45 mins in duration.

I'm also a convert to the 'stride' classes which are choreographed moves on a cross trainer. These classes are only 30 mins long but man, are they a work out!

All in all, Beatty Park offers more than your average gym. It combines kids and adult pools (for both training and just mucking about), large fitness rooms, the full suite of Les Mills classes with a generous time table, additional classes as described above, fully stocked gym floor, a large physiotherapy suite, massage suite, cafe, creche, plenty of showers, change rooms and secure lockers and oodles of free parking. Check it out for yourself.

*It may only be ratepayers. Best check yourselves.

As a kid I would attend swimming lessons with friends and family at Beatty Park during the summer holidays, and our parents would pack picnic lunches with which we'd mosey on down to the grassy area after lessons and eat what seemed like all day long. Of course we'd have to wait half an hour before dipping into the pools again in between munching on hotdogs, hot chips, and somewhat healthier tuna sandwiches.

This place brings back so many memories for me. I nearly drowned once in the 2ft 6 and was graciously saved by my older cousin. It was also at Beatty Park where I first learnt about the birds and the bees, with guys older than me from high school regularly bragging about their conquests behind this fence or that.

I've played kiss chasey here; chucked countless laps (when I was on a fitness roll); seen pop stars performing from the highest diving platform (Christie Allen singing 'He's My Number One' - I remember it so vividly); and even worked up the courage to jump off said 30 foot-high slab into the 16 ft pool below.

It's been renovated since, of course, and some of the higher diving boards have been demolished. Also, an artist friend of mine was commissioned in latter days to create some pretty mosaic work that has added much needed colour to the otherwise very blue surrounds. And they're renovating yet again.

I look forward to seeing a bigger, brighter, more beautiful Beatty Park when it re-opens proper. And hopefully getting into more over-arm and breast-stroke laps (he says patting his li'l pot belly).

Hands down my favourite outdoor pool in Perth! It can get quite busy in the morning between 5:30 and 7am but theres still a lane to suit lap swimmers.

On weekends and later in the day, they sometimes open a kids lane too for kids to swim in or play around in which is helpful!

I love going to Beatty park for a workout for its convenient location (10 min walk from home) and its facilities.

It has two outdoor pools both heated and non heated as well as an indoor heated pool. The lanes are split for those who dawdle in the pool, for those who use it for walking, jumping jacks, sliding, and even lap swimming. Beatty park also offers a range of interesting aqua classes such as aqua kickbox and aqua Zumba.

Beatty park offers a range of fitness classes from Les mills classes to yoga, spin, and boxing circuits. Classes are even offered on the weekends unlike some gyms that are closed on weekends or have no group fitness classes on weekends.

What I really like about Beatty park due to my short attention span and restlessness is that it has 45 minute pump and combat classes.

For those who don't like group fitness, well the gym opens at 5.30am on weekdays and you can download an app that syncs to the cardio machines and tracks your workouts. You can even view stuff or listen to stuff that's on your phone by syncing your phone via Bluetooth to the cardio machines. Wow-eee technology!!!

As part of your membership you get a free fitness appraisal, workout program and follow ups.

For those who are unmotivated to exercise, you can even get a personal trainer or chill out at the coffee shop (jokes).

On and the most important thing - you can park at Beatty for free!

I have given Beatty Park 4/5 stars because it lacks hot yoga classes and my favourite Les Mills Class Sh'Bam. I also wish it had an earlier combat class on the weekend - who wants to do combat after a huge breakfast - at 11.30am?

Good place if your looking for a decent workout and easy parking in Perth. Really large pools. Gym has newer equipment and enough for a decent workout. A 1 time visit costs 16 aud. The staff are all very friendly and helpful. The gym is clean.

One of Perth's biggest public pool areas. Great indoor pools for the kids. The new gym is huge.

I went for sauna the other evening and truthfully said, it was not the best experience. General sauna etiquette doesn't seem to be followed. No one was using a towel or showering off before entering the steam room and spa. The area sits behind the indoor pool area. Sectioned off by a gate. Its not completely closed off. Would be great/better to have a separate male, female sauna. I'm not keen to return but may try a different time of the day, although, seeing how other patrons treat the facilities its very off putting. There is a small balcony outside where you take in some fresh air between the sauna and spa.

I love Beatty park - it really has everything you need in a rec centre! Classes, gym, sauna, spa, swimming pools etc.

My only negative about beatty park is that the inside pool is always busy w swimming classes during peak after work hours.. This means there's a huge crowd of swimmers in one fast swimming lane... Yes there's an outside pool but in winter it's freezing out there! You need a wet suit to get in and I'm a total sook when it comes to cold water swimming! :)

      Clean facilities
Brand new gym and rooms for gym classes
I love swimming in the outdoor 50m lap pool
There is also a 30m water polo pool outdoors
25m indoors and a kids play area and 2 great water slides
The 1 year gym membership is well with it- you get unlimited classes, gym access and pool spa and sauna!

Beatty Park was originally built to host the Empire & Commonwealth Games in 1962. No for the younger Yelpers that is not a mistake, it used to be the Empire.

When I was a kid Beatty Park was the public pool that you would go to for school holiday swimming lessons or after school on a really hot day. Then finish the day with their hot chips from the cafe. They had the highest diving board, into the deepest of pools and only the bravest would dive from the top level.

It has been renovated a few times since I was a kid and they are doing it again right now. I am looking forward to it reopening and seeing what $17 million dollars worth of pools and buildings get you these days.
