Great layout. Nice clubhouse. Friendly staff. But the course maintenance was terrible on this day. It is inexcusable to not rake the bunkers after charging $50 for an afternoon round. It appears as if they hadn't been raked in quite some time. It is quite difficult to hit off of hardpan sand when you are in them. The greens and fairways have significant bare spots. If you want to play this course, please call ahead and ask them about the conditions and if they raked the bunkers that day. If they say no, consider finding another course.

Decent golf course for reasonable rates - compared to others in the area. Clubhouse is on the older side but a very good track with good conditions nonetheless.

The good is that it's one of the best deals on the island.

I did not personally enjoy the course and don't think I have ever spent that much time looking for balls in bushels of pine straw.

I didn't see any amenities and the pro shop is lacking. I won't personally come back but recognize that it can be fun if you can avoid the woods and needlessly many bodies of water.

The course was in surprisingly good condition considering all the recent rain. The fairways were good and the greens were near perfect. Although I didn't get his name, the cart guy was one of the friendliest people I have ever met., I strongly recommend this golf course.

Nice older course hidden away in Hilton Head Plantation. We have played this course before and liked it enough to play again . Its a nice course with some nice fairways and greens. Some holes could use a little more attention but overall good shape. The cart paths are sand and the course holds water so heavy rain impacts it more. It is a fairly challenging course with lots of reward for little risk. Unfortunately, no course map, so look the holes over good for hidden hazards. The clubhouse is new and nice with great food and drinks. Large screen TVs make it a good place to drop in for sports and drinks. Staff was super nice. Check their specials, our round included lunch and a beer or soda. Could use some course rangers, but our round went fast without much delay.
Would play again. The scenery is awesome, there are even a couple owls to be seen.

Played 9 holes this morning here. It was easy t book, park and pay. The staff in proshop was nice as was the rangers we encountered.

The course itself needs some work. Rough teeboxes, greens were aerated and pretty neglected / rough to putt / uneven. Lots of traps were not true and more scruff than trap.

For the price it was good .... but the course needs work. The front 9 was pretty long and boring. When you hit a nice shot unless your perfectly placed your in a trap or in the pinestraw. Not a lot of shade and being a 100 degree day it was brutal. No cart girl or ranger etc checked on us after the 1st tee

Great course. Well maintained and designed. When my wife and I arrived, there were no golf carts available. That should tell you how busy they are.
I told the marshall this was our first time playing Bear Creek. He guaranteed that I would be back and felt this would be a favorite course in the future. He was right.

The fairways are very well groomed. The hazard areas are manageable. There are enough sand traps and lagoons to make it challenging. Certainly the 18th hole is spectacular. A par 5 leading to an island type green where many shots will funnel back into the water. The greens themselves were in great shape and not as fast as other bermuda grass greens.

We didn't have time to visit their restaurant, but will do so next visit.

Bear Creek is a nice golf course with many appealing attributes. However, the rangers have much to be desired.... We were playing behind a very, very slow foursome( no group in front of them) and the ranger told us that we needed to keep up with them , hahaha are you kidding! We had to wait on ever tee as the group never once played ready golf and the range did take runs through several times never suggesting that the group play from a more forward tee to help in the speed of play. I think some of these rangers are really not golfers and just want the comp.
Don't hesitate to play here, however, just be aware that there is no way you will get around in the time that is supposed to be.

Rangers and starters .....do your job

Had a great time playing Bear Creek the other day. The course was in great condition and it has some really fun water holes. My personal favorite is 18 - a par 5 where if you hit a big enough drive you have a chance to get on the green in 2, but in order to do so you have to hit a long shot over the water. Hole 17 typically has a gator so watch out, you might not be as brave to hit your chip as my partner was.

Played the course yesterday, and it was great.
A long and challenging course, with enough bunkers and doglegs to force players to think strategically.
However, many tee boxes and greens were in rough shape. They could use some significant maintenance.
