Only updating my review to say I closed my account. I was wrong. They DO have BS fees! They just take and take and bleed you dry by a 1000 tiny paper cuts. No thanks.

For how small they are, they have a high level of DGF attitude. It's pretty disheartening. The only reason I stay with them is that they don't have monthly or annual BS fees. But by all means DO NOT GO I TO OVERDRAFT! That's where they get you! $34 per transaction over your account balance. A bit steep if you ask me. After building a relationship with them over the last year with my business it is still not good enough to get a loan or CC so I can revive my business here in CA with some cash flow support. That's ok! I'll succeed here regardless and this bank will be in my rear view in a matter of time. Thanks a lot for being a part of my journey BBVA. You suck...maybe a tiny bit less than some other banks, but you suck none the less...

My 87 year old mother had a bank account signed over to her from her deceased husband with a small sum of money in it. The nearest branch was 100 miles away. I had to drive 200 miles round trip to drop off the notarized papers in person. I was told that their legal team needed to evaluate the papers and it would take 1 week. 2 1/2 weeks later i was told that they required an additional signed and notarized paper from 3 people in other states. I asked for an e-mail specifying the nature of the document. No email was received. I have spent over 3 hours on the phone and have yet to speak with anyone that can or wants to assist me. All I am getting is a runaround. WORST BANK EVER!!!! DO NOT BANK HERE!

personally this branch has been incredibly helpful, the staff are really kind and awesome every single time I come in - they are always able to assist me with my banking needs and I never have to wait long/ it's always an easy process. not sure why they have so many one star reviews they have been super great for me. id recommended if you prefer a smaller bank

I've been a customer of BBVA Bank for over three years. I have a checking, investment account, loan and credit card all in good standing with this company. Approximately one week ago, due to circumstances beyond my control, I was one day late with my credit card payment. I was immediately assessed a $39 late fee and the credit card, which previously had a $7500 limit, was lowered to $4000 removing $3500 of available credit. This action immediately caused my credit rating to drop as it increased my utilization.
I called the bank and asked to speak with a manager who was able to reverse the late fee however could not restore the credit to my card. I am forewarning all consumers not to use this bank as my credit was in excellent condition with an exemplary payment record.
Currently I have a reduction in my credit score and a credit card with $3500 removed from the original approval
Please consider all your options before using this financial institution.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Kaelen V.Richmond, CA340Jun 29, 2018
I have used this account for my business banking for the last couple of years. I did a lot of research and then switched to BBVA because of their lack of stupid fees. Well, turns out they have stupid fees. I was surprised to find out that they charged me $4.90 to change 3 twenty dollar bills into fives. (I occasionally need cash when I sell my products in person.) But if I had just gotten $60 in fives out at the counter, there would have been no charge. And! to make it even more irritating, it took me 3 representatives and 90 minutes on the phone to figure out what the charges were for. If every other bank didn't suck, I would switch, but I guess I'll stay for now because they're less bad than the average bank.

I agree 100% with the prior review from Jan C. Service at this location is excellent. Ezequiel, Kim and the others at this location offer top notch service. If you want a personal banking experience backed by a truly digital offering (great website, mobile, etc) give these guys a try.

Bad customer service. I have an IRA there. When it was time to roll it over, the rep kept trying to sell me on a money market account bc I could withdraw money at any time. I told him it was an IRA so I couldn't. He told me it wasn't, then checked. It was. Then the rep gave me the wrong information about what I needed to send to BBVA in order to change my CD. We agreed to one thing on the phone, then a couple of days later, the rep changed his mind and said that wasn't good enough. I am disabled and don't have a scanner. It is very difficult for me to get paperwork to him so asking for new paperwork at the last minute was a burden. I know I don't have a big account but the customer service rep was not competent IMO and also very unsympathetic to me, especially given his own mistakes.
I tried to call to talk to his supervisor but got put on hold at BBVA for over 10 minutes before I gave up.
Wells Fargo gives much better service and they're a typical big bank in my experience (neither particularly better nor worse than other big banks). If you have a large account, maybe you'll get better service from BBVA.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Rene F.San Ramon, CA02Sep 17, 2015First to Review
