Stopped in on our way from VT to Albany, NY for a bite. Short story is: Deadly Fries! Fresh cut, crisp and hot. Maybe a new standard for me. Fried chickysan was great too. Good local place with open seating and friendly staff.
Now for the brews, and I'm a brewer. I did a 6 pour flight: Munich, NEIPA, Pumpkin, Amber, Harmony, and Porter. All were solid hitters, not a dog in the lineup, and each was true to the style they claim. The Pumpkin was only out of curiosity and it was quite good
My wife read some reviews that were critical of the beer and I said, guess I wont be getting beer. But after reading descriptions it was clear to me they know their craft so I did the flight and was very pleased. Top picks are the Porter, and the NEIPA, both were excellent. Those who pronounce criticism of the beer here are clearly out of their depth.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Rich H.Crown Point, NY3185189Feb 18, 2023
1st time here, food was very good.
The sausage egg rolls were superb, I had the mac n cheese, very good.
Wife had the patriot burger, she enjoyed it.
Great service, nice dining room and bar.
We are not fans of these brewed beers, i could only get about a half glass down, horrible after taste.
We would go back to eat, but would just drink soda.
We recommend.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - May 20, 2022
The 469 residents of the bustling metropolis of Fort Ann, New York are very lucky to have this hidden gem offering tasty Colonial-era inspired cuisine and locally-produced beers. On a recent roadtrip from Northern New Jersey to Vermont, the Wizard of Waze brought me and my dining companion to the doorstep of this fabulous dining establishment just in time for lunch (and, let's be honest, there aren't a lot of other options in the area).
On our recent visit, I opted for the fried chicken sandwich, a freshly battered and fried chicken thigh served on a tasty potato bread hamburger roll with lettuce, tomato, onion, and aioli and a side of fresh french fries. Wow! One of the best fried chicken sandwiches I have EVER tasted. Crunchy on the outside; juicy and tender on the inside. YUM. My dining companion selected the grilled chicken sandwich served in a similar manner and was much less enthusiastic about her choice.
I still had a few hours of driving ahead of me so I couldn't partake in the locally-brewed beers, but they had a range of options from IPA to Stout on-tap that will appeal to most beer drinkers. Service was good, without being overwhelming.
I don't expect to be back in Fort Ann any time soon, but will definitely return to Battle Hill if I am.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Nov 30, 2021
I absolutely love this place for 2 very specific reasons: Consistently good beer and consistently good food. Pretty simple, right. The dining room is pretty spartan and the bar is way too small. I've been her at least a dozen times and there is never space at the bar- never and I hate that. But tat being said, I do love that they have at least 3 different beers on the menu every time I walk in. Huge pet peeve: brew pubs and tab houses that have zero consistency! Also not a lot of those usually disgusting "boysenberry triple haze over yeasted dirt infused" fad brews marketed squarely at the attention deficited millennial zipperheads. (Rant over). Fish and chips is my fave. Pub cheese is great.

Cool little spot with decent food and good customer service. I definitely enjoyed my visit but the beer quality could use some work. I tired 3 selections and each of them missed the mark. Worth stopping by if you're driving through the area but the beer is fair at best.

Food was amazing. The bar is quaint and warm on this below zero day. Sweet server. Loved the burger, fries, pretzel bites and Mac N Cheese with bacon!

Seemed like a good restaurant in a very small town. Very clean and updates restrooms. Some uniques things on menu. Great service. 9 craft beers to select from.

Well considering it was Mother's Day and it was a brunch the customer service was great. The food and price not so much. I am one who is not picky w their food but the only think I liked at the buffet was the mini pancakes w strawberries. Everything else was mediocre. I bet they have great food on the menu though. I wouldn't mind trying again to see how it is. But never would I go back for a brunch.
