Barranca Canyon Dentistry

As always I had a great experience at Barranca Canyon Dentistry. As I told the dental assistant, I have never had pain during and after any procedure with Dr. S. The staff and doctor are always caring and friendly as well as extremely knowledgeable. I will never go anywhere else.....it's worth the drive up from Huntington Beach.

I don't recommend this office . They force you to either accept treatments not covered by your insurance or go somewhere else (and of course i went somewhere else).

I have attached my treatment plan that i was given by this dental office. I needed two crowns for two of my teeth plus a filling. I have a really good insurance that covers most of my dental expense (e.g. 80% of crown expenses). On the treatment plan, for each crown they included a treatment which is basically removing gum using laser which was obviously not covered by my insurance (typical strategy by dental private practices to charge patients extra as through insurance they are capped on how much they can charge for standard treatments).

When I requested to remove that as this did not seem necessary (I have done multiple crowns in other places without ever needing such special procedure) , I got a somewhat condescending answer from the receptionist that Dr. through his education at USC has been taught this treatment is necessary and is not willing to remove this! This was the first time I had to deal with a situation where a dentist was forcing me to go through a seemingly optional treatment.

I did get second opinions (from USC graduate dentists as well) on this and as I suspected this treatment is not necessary! Unfortunately, going to this office was a huge waste of time so for the next patients considering this office, you might want to double check about the treatments that might be forced on you later on and might want to save yourself some time and go somewhere else.

Another amazing experience! So lucky to be a patient at this office, everyone from the front office staff to the back office and of course the two amazing dentists. Jamie, Karina, Dr. S and Dr Shafaee you guys ROCK!

I used to come here for routine cleaning from 1 particular dental technician. She did an exceptional job like no other dental technicians so far I have experienced. I had my teeth cleaned by a different dental technician, it was a 0/5. There was a lot tapping and counting on my teeth not at all cleaning. Since my gold medal dental technician is no longer there, I stopped coming here.

Dr. Shafaee was very honest and helpful. She noticed an issue on the root of my molar and recommended a known endodontist, a specialist for a specific issue. Much respect for the doctor for the fact that she put her patient needs to a better hand rather than her financial again by doing the work herself.
Yes I have experienced other dentist performed a horrible root canal job. Almost most of them want to do the job rather than refer to an endodontist.
Yes, a dentist is capable of performing a root canal, but not as meticulous as an endodontist.

Last Friday evening at 5:30 pm I chipped one of my rear molars. Of course Barranca Canyon Dentistry office was closed. I called the office and listened to a voice mail. At the end of the message was contact information for after hour emergencies. I called and left a message for the Doctor S, not expecting a call back since this was a 3 day weekend (Memorial Day). Two hours later my phone range and it was Doctor S. I explained to him what had happened. He seemed genuinely concerned. He asked me if I could meet him Saturday am to address my dental issue. I went to the office Saturday am. Just me and Doctor S. He took x-rays, prepped me and pulled the tooth chip that was hanging from my upper gum. DONE! 30 minutes in and out. I am so appreciative of the timely assistance Doctor S provided on a Saturday when the office is normally closed! 5 STARS!!!!!

How many people can say they like going to Dentist? Me!!!

Jamie in the front office is amazing. She is friendly, efficient and always greets you with your name and a smile so big you can see it despite her mask! She always follows through with an emailed receipt, referral or treatment plan. If you need a crown they can do it the same day, no need for a temporary and a 2 week wait. Dr Shafaee and Dr Shahriyarpour are thorough and communicative regarding recommended treatment or home care, you can tell they really do care about their work and a positive patient experience.

This team is so great. They fit me in when I lost a filling, and Dr. Shahriyarpour fixed me up with no hassle. I highly recommend this dental office!

His office manager, Jamie is exceptional as she goes beyond to assist with all of your dental needs and/or concerns to provide the best care and customer experience. She works perfectly with Dr. Shahriyarpour they're both very personable and pleasant and provides the best customer experience!! My mother lives out of the area but used to go to them, I've scheduled her to another dentist that lives closer to her home but she's not nearly as happy there and doesn't go to that dentist regularly because of it. I have since changed her dentist back to Dr. Shahriyarpour and she is thrilled! We both have our next appt. scheduled. I highly recommend Dr. Shahriyarpour and his team!!

If you are looking for a state of the art dental office with friendly, gentle hygienists,this is the place. Conveniently located not far off of the 5 fwy and Sand Canyon. There is ample parking available.
One of the nice things they offer are headphones featuring pandora music. Choose the channel you like and relax while you get worked on.
The staff are all very friendly and welcoming.
