I decided to try a new groomer as I haven't been pleased with my usual place.
And boy am I glad I called the Barking Lot!
The owners name is Sharon and she is the nicest most down to earth Lady I have met in a long time. She was very sweet and patient with my dog Gizmo and when He was finished He looked just great, exactly what I was hoping for.
Their prices are reasonable too.
I would highly recommend you give them a try.Helpful 7Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 0 - raven f.San Francisco, CA4311Jan 16, 2011First to Review
my first visit to Barking Lot my pooch was 4 months old. I was beyond happy when it was time to pick him up. What a transformation, my Ozzy was now Oswald ;-)
Ozzy is now 7 months old and I will continue to take him to Sarah.
Wish I could post before and after pictures.Helpful 5Thanks 0Love this 3Oh no 0 - Sam S.San Francisco, CA041Oct 30, 2018
Just called to make an appointment and Sharon stated no new clients are welcome. I then asked for a future date and was denied. Not one star from me this place sucks........

I took my dog here only once. I dropped her off for a bath and trim. I picked her up and she looked great and smelled good. Later in the day I noticed that she hadn't been bathed at all. The next day she was all itchy and her skin was red from the hair cut and not being bathed. Weeks later she developed a skin infection (staphylococcus) that I'm 100% positive she got from the clippers that were used there. We almost never take her to be groomed and the last time she was groomed was more than six months before that. It took us over a year and multiple rounds of antibiotics to get the skin infection in check! I will never take my animals there and will not be recommending this place to anyone!

I have been going there for 6 years. I trim and wash my dog at home as he is small with shorter hair. But I would not let anyone besides Kris cut his nails. I used to have the vet do it. They charged over $20. The vet would take the dog 'in the back' and I could hear him screaming. The nails often bled too.
My dog hates the procedure, and still yelps at bit. But Kris and her husband are so caring, they treat the dogs with real respect, and I can watch. The cost for his nails is only $7, I always give them $10 because I am so happy. They do a great job with grooming too, I can see the finished dogs waiting to be picked up.
Nothing but a great experience every time I go !Helpful 5Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Valerie S.Vallejo, CA03Aug 3, 2014
I have been taking my dog Boston, a sheltie to the Barking Lot located in Vallejo, CA on Benicia Road for the past three years now. Sharon, the owner is very polite and does professional work. Before I found out about the Barking Lot, I use to bath and groom Boston myself, because I didn't feel that the groomers in the past did a good job.
I have been bathing and grooming Boston since he was a puppy up until he was seven years old. At around that time, I started to have experience back pains on and off and I started to have a hard time bending over to bath him in the bath tub at the self-cleaning dog wash facility. So I started to take him to a few of the groomers in the area; however, when he came back home, I didn't feel he was either not clean properly, his nails where not cut, or they didn't give him the sanitation cut or didn't do it the way I wanted them too.
I did a bit of research and decided to try Sharon out at the Barking Lot. After three visits, I decided to let her become his official groomer. She is so good with Boston and he looks so handsome when he comes back from being groomed.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - jo m.Vallejo, CA03May 28, 2013
Great place! Needed to get my little 8-month old pup's nails done since she was sporting CLAWS & FREAKED out when I tried to do them myself, which made ME freak out a little! Not only was Sharon nice enough to squeeze us in on a moment's notice since we were leaving town, but she let me come at her closing time since I couldn't get out of work sooner. Plus, it was super cheap ... $7, but of course I gave her $10 because she was great, all the way around!
My pup still freaked out a little, because she's not used to it, but Sharon just keep trying to soothe her as I held her, and everything ended up fine.
I guess my 4-stars instead of 5 is just because I am the one that had to hold my pup to soothe her & keep her from escaping, so I wouldn't be able to just 'drop her off' anytime. I would think that a business would take freaky puppies into consideration, but then again, it's just $7!!
I'll be sure to bump up the stars when we get to the point of all being well with the entire experience. :)Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Georgie G.Lakeport, CA034Sep 30, 2015
The Barking Lot took in all three of my dogs at the same time for nail trimmings, a total of 140 pounds of dog! :) For such a good deal of a price they clipped each of my dogs' nails, buffed them and also trimmed their paw pads with no extra charge. My two big dogs were not too thrilled with the process but the staff here were so patient and friendly in working with each dog. Great visit and I'm definitely satisfied!
