I'm from #FL so take everything I'm about to say with a huge grain of SALT LIFE.
I haven't had much lobstah in my life. Why? Most of the lobsters where I'm from are of the spiny variety. Also: as the kids say "It's expensive AF".
I've always loved lobster but I rarely eat it.
For my first trip to main I HAD to be a tourist and do the lobster thing though, right?
Anyway, the lobster here was fantastic. Easily the best I've ever tasted but...my sample size is pitifully small.
I was also surprised but the surprisingly above-average selection of localish beers on tap.
Only reason it's not a 5-stars is the ambiance. It was a little sterile, and I wanted it to be a little more rowdy!Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 6Oh no 0 - Nov 2, 2023
Came in on a rainy day and ordered the lobster roll with Mac and cheese for $30. The restaurant appears clean. The amount of lobster on the roll was pretty generous, the lobster was tender and delicious. There was a strange sweet taste of the lobster roll (like kind of mapley). I didn't get it in every bite so it wasn't the sweetness from the lobster. I wonder what this was but it was a bit unexpected. The brioche was a bit dry and I wish there was more of the creamy sauce on top. Mac and cheese was flavorful although a bit dry as well.
The blueberry a la mode (although we removed the ice cream) was amazing. It was not sweet at all and the crust was flaky. One of the best pies I have ever had.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - 92779Jan 14, 2024
We went on cruise recently and one of our stops was bar harbor lobster company! We heard great things about the lobster rolls and had to go check it out. The staff was very friendly and it was nice and warm to sit outside which was nice. My husband loved the crab roll and I was over the moon with the lobster rangoons. The lobster roll, was a little disappointing as it seemed the meat was a little over cooked and dry but overall everything else was good and I still encourage everyone to go try it out. My sister had gone an hour or two after me and said her lobster roll was cooked perfectly.

We ordered the lobster roll, fries and NE clam chowder.
The chowder was just okay.
The fries weren't necessarily old but they were not made to order.
The lobster roll was a disappointment.
They serve it in a roll with a bottom layer of shredded lettuce, hot with butter and topped with "crema." That could mean many things so I asked what is your crema. The waiter said something about a line aioli. Why would they top a butter lobster roll with essentially mayonnaise?
We ordered two rolls without the crema.
The lobster was not freshly cooked and a bit chewy. In fact the lettuce actually added flavor. I guess the crema is added to moisten it and hide the (lack of) lobster flavor. Go across the street to Peekytoe Provisions.
One nice thing: we ordered Atlantic Brewing's blueberry ale. The added about a half dozen blueberries in the glass. That was a nice touch.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Aug 29, 2022
On our third night in Bar Harbor we chose to have dinner at Bar Harbor Lobster Co, next time we visit this will be our first stop!
We had a difficult time deciding where to have lobster because almost everywhere seems to offer them and it's tough to tell if a place is actually legit or just gimmickky. BH Lobster Co was totally delicious, prompt and fresh. Our server was attentive throughout the meal and was quick to help us move inside from the patio when it started to rain again.
What I liked the most was that there was a variety of lobster sizes to choose from and they were priced accordingly, they were priced reasonably at that! I opted for the 1 1/2lb boiled lobster that came with a side and a pickle. It was more than enough food for dinner when paired with a crispy cold Bissel Brother beer.
I would recommend BH Lobster Co to anyone looking for a delicious and fresh local meal.Helpful 4Thanks 0Love this 5Oh no 0 - Aug 30, 2022
THE best lobster we had in Bar Harbor! We tried all the popular spots in our week there but the lobster roll here takes the cake. The portion and serving of lobster in the roll was generous, and the toasted bun and breadcrumbs made for great presentation and flavor combinations.
Make a reservation beforehand if you can because it does get busy.
My husband also had the clam chowder and loved it. I will have to try the next time we visit!Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 1 - Ian K.Salem, MA28622232May 1, 2023
Lucky to stop by before the busy season picks up. My partner and I usually stop here at least once during our visits.
$22 for a roll and a side is a STEAL. Love the mayo on top rather than thickly mixed in, gave the roll real flavor. Slaw was decent, but Claw chowder hit the mark
Service was great, staff were attentive and drink selection was solid, especially for the beer list
The decor inside is old school with wood panels, gives a rustic ski lodge vibe. Outside Patio is prime during hot days.
Will be back. As a New Englander who has consumed a fair share of lobster rolls, this is a solid institution for an iconic new england lobster roll.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Aug 9, 2022
After looking at the yelp reviews I was torn between BHLB and Geddys, we happened to be getting a beer at the Thirsty Whale so I asked the bartender her opinion. Without hesitation she said Bar Harbor Lobster Company is the best in Bar Harbor.
We walked over around 5:25p and we're able to get a picnic table. Our waitress was super nice and quick with bringing drinks and taking our order.
My husband really wanted steamers and I really wanted mussels so we ordered them both... Since we were on vacation we splurged-I also got a 1.5# lobster and he had the twins.
Everything was cooked perfectly... This was the best meal we had during our three day stay.
If you're looking for an authentic Maine seafood meal Bar Harbor lobster Company is the place to go!Helpful 3Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0
