We have been with Banfield for a few years and had our dog on the Wellness Plan . I wouldn't take my pet anywhere else. The veterinarians and the whole staff there are outstanding. After our dog passed away in a terrible accident, they showed us so much compassion. Now that we are adopting a new puppy, we will be going back to Banfield and getting our puppy on the Wellness Plan which is the best plan to go on in order to take care of our puppy in the best way possible.

I have no issue with the vets at the Rock Hill location. Very professional and caring. My 15 year old chihuahua was close to the end of her life and the dr told me to call when it was her time to cross over the rainbow bridge. I called and was given an appointment 2 WEEKS out. I called every day, multiple times a day, explaining that the vet said that we would be given a top priority appointment. It didn't matter to the person answering the phones. My baby suffered because of this and I would never recommend Banfield Animal Hospital to anyone.

The office staff was very nice. The veterinarian Dr. Katta could use some work on his active listening skills. I had to repeat myself multiple times. My biggest issue with this place was the pricing. I'd be willing to bet that you could go to any other vet in Rock Hill and pay significantly less. Our regular vet is about half the cost. Our issue occurred on a Sunday and this place was the only place open....so it was what it was. The emergency vet in Ft. Mill or Charlotte may have been cheaper. We only had an exam, standard labs, and medicine, nothing justifying the high costs of services.
If you're looking for a regular veterinarian, definitely go elsewhere!Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0Business owner information

We recently switched Banfield locations. Not due to bad servce but simply for the fact we moved, and this location is much closer. One of the great things about Banfield is that they have several locations.
First impression was a friendly staff ready to assist. So that was positive. When we took our seats to wait for our appointment, I noticed a slight wet dog smell and what appeared to be a small pee pee trail on ground. Not a lot but enough to notice.
We were soon called into a room. The staff and vet were very friendly, thorough, and caring to our pet. It is so important and very comforting when you are able to find others who care about your fur baby as much as you do and we definitely got that feel here.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Kristi M.Rock Hill, SC9022Feb 16, 2015
If you're looking for any sort of customer service at all this is not the pet hospital for you. They aren't any less expensive than other vets and in most cases they are more expensive. Yet, the quality of service you get is more like fast food. I recommend going elsewhere.

I really wanted to like this place. Located right in Petsmart, it is very convenient. I went there four times; two with my dog and two with a rescue cat. Twice my experience was frustrating; one other time I was transferred to another vet after an exam and x-rays because Banfield did not offer the necessary procedure.
Banfield did have its good points. The veterinarian herself was helpful and thorough. Treatment plans with prices for each procedure were provided before treatment. Everything seemed clean and medically sound as far as I know. It was easy to make an appointment, and the front desk staff was helpful. Wait times were usually not too long.
DO NOT sign up for the Wellness plan, Banfield's "comprehensive" monthly payment-based plan . It will not cover medications, some necessary vaccines, or everything you think it's going to based on reading the plan brochure. If your pet is sick they will have you pay for sick visits and offer the plan later, after you have paid for multiple office visits and many of the services the plan would otherwise include. No one was able to explain this, and it was difficult to get the necessary information and have questions answered.
My last visit was truly an uncomfortable experience due to the veterinary assistant. I literally couldn't wait to leave.
Banfield could be a great choice for some people, but I will be transferring to a local vet.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0Business owner information

I do not recommend ANY of the vets at this location. We have 3 dogs that are all on Wellness Plans. The vets tried to nickle and dime us for everything. I also felt that they were judgmental towards my Pit Bull who is very well trained and well mannered. I felt like this location was not personal at all with my dogs or my husband and I. I have been with Banfield for years. Its a shame to see this location act the way they do.

I have a 7 year old female lab mix. She began vomiting, not eating and later the same day not drinking. The next day we got her to eat and drink. She was more herself. On the third day she had reverted back to vomiting, not eating, not drinking much and there was a small amount of blood in her vomit. With her regular vet being closed I took her to Banfield in Rock Hill, SC. The lady at the front desk was very nice as was the vet tech. The vet came in and immediately I did not like her. She was making assumptions about the care that I provided my dog. When I tried to talk to her I felt as though she was not listening to me.
The vet had blood drawn to run a test. They did such a poor job. I have never seen my dog SOAK a gauze after having blood drawn. The Vet then told me my dog had pancreatitis and needed to be taken to a hospital and put on an IV. It did not seem like she was very confident in her diagnosis - it was more like that was the closest thing she could find in the book. The tech seemed better able to explain the test result and more willing to talk and listen than the actual vet. The vet then prescribed several medications and prescription food - which she would need to be on the rest of her life.
We took our dog home without the medication or food. We were feeding her plain white rice and giving her unflavored water with electrolytes. All the while doubting our decision to bring her home. She stopped vomiting and perked up. Playing with toys and running around a little with her sister.
The next morning she woke up at 4:30. She spit up a little clear liquid. Then she was very slow to move around and did not want to eat or drink. We decided to take her to the animal hospital in Columbia, SC. They ran all of the tests on her and came back with no evidence of pancreatitis. They gave her an injection for the vomiting. Told us to keep her on the rice and add chicken. Incorporate her regular food (which is Science Diet - not some cheap full of filler food) slowly. And keep giving her the water with electrolytes.
By that afternoon our beautiful girl was up and running around. She hasn't vomited since before we took her to the second vet. No blood. No diarrhea. Nothing.
I will never go back to Banfield again. That is my personal preference.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0Business owner information

My experience at Banfield Pet Hospital was a great experience. I brought my rescue chihuahua in to get her signed up for future visits and her first set of booster shots. As she was tested for certain things like heart worms, hook worms ect they would inform me of the expense and procedure costs.I was able to get a running total of what needed to be done and how much i had to spend.I also signed her up for the optimum wellness plan.Very little cost per month to ensure she is in good health and a happy dog. Will be going back soon. Also,i have to state how convienent it is to have the pet hospital in the pet smart store. i am a happy customer. The wait time was very little, staff was professional. They even called me the next day to check on my dog and see if she had any side affects from the boosters given.Awesome!!!!!!
