I don't know how this made it to my list, but maybe it was because the raw nori wrap caught my eye. My friend and I came in to order that and the quinoa wrap. We added avocado to both with the additional charge of $1.49. We also got a free cup of kitchari- a type of porridge- thanks to the check in offer.
We both enjoyed the nori wrap. It was tasty and fresh. The quinoa wrap was filled with fresh veggies too, but had too much greens. I didn't care for the spinach herb tortilla either as I felt it was thick. I'm glad I got to try the kitchari as I wouldn't have ordered this if it wasn't for the offer. It's comfort food that warms the stomach. It was a healthy meal that I started the day out with that balanced my not so healthy food choices later on in the day.Helpful 4Thanks 0Love this 3Oh no 0 - Apr 8, 2016
First time here and I absolutely fell in love! Gluten free, vegan, raw, and so flavorful!!!
I've recently discovered in the past couple years that I had to change my diet to change my health and my life and so I love stumbling upon gems like this place. I've been to quite a few places but I have to say that this is one of the best places I've ever been to and loved everything I had. So I'll usually go to places like this and order a handful of options and decide whether I like the place or not. Many places I can taste it's healthy but not healthy, flavorful, and fulfilling like this place.
I've had experiences of some places where some dishes were too dry or too spicy or not flavorful enough. Desserts, if all natural, we're kind of on the dry side or bland tasting.
Omg the brownie was to die for. It's so hard to find a place that makes brownies with natural sugars and cacao instead of chocolate and still be moist and so sweet. I devoured it before I could even touch my entrées. It was smaller than expected but totally worth it.
The guy who helped me was super sweet, knowledgeable, patient, and helpful.
I was hesitant to get tea but I saw a stress tea and felt tired after work. I also know that ashwagandha is good to help cope with stress and so I ordered that. It was surprisingly really good even without adding any sugar or milk or anything to it. I'd def order that again and it even paired well with the brownie.
The red bean soup was also surprisingly good. I'm not sure I'm a fan of red bean but this place made me like it.
Their soup that they carry on hand everyday that starts with a K (I forgot the name) was pretty good too. It tasted even better after I had a taste of the red bean soup. I chose the red bean over that one because it just had a better taste for me at the moment. It's what my tastebuds needed.
I would highly recommend adding avocado to the Chana dish if you like avocado. Made it taste so much better.
Everything is so fresh. They even have organic ketchup. ;) I believe everything is organic and pesticide free. I appreciate this place so much. Eating here will allow you to live a longer life if you choose to eat here over other non organic non vegan places. If I could eat here 5 times a week I would. Too bad I live so far. The price is def worth it and I'm def coming back even if I live 400+ miles away :)
I seriously liked every single dish I ordered. I took the quinoa wrap to go and haven't tried it yet. I'll update it after I take a bite later on tonight.Helpful 4Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Mar 1, 2015
4 Stars if I was a Vegan
I have not experienced a better vegan place than this small little hipster cafe/restaurant. For vegans this must be heaven on earth. The indian curry panini is full of flavor and I do not feel like I am being deprived of my daily proteins and the quesadilla was delicious too only if you love avocado! However, do not get the nori wraps it is a huge mess and I can make that at home and I am not the best cook...
3 Stars because I am not a Vegan
If you're a dude and have a normal appetite just one order of the burrito/quesadilla without much starch will NOT fill you up, so this will not be one of the best bargains in town for you. Also their Saturday special soup was okay maybe needs a little bit more salt, it was kind of bland (but full of starch so it was filling). Also, I'm not dying to come back to this place anytime soon. It was just a good experience... a place that I should at least try once kind of ordeal.
Also, this place is self served. You pick up your food from the counter and you put it away in the designated dirty dishes buckets yourself.Helpful 5Thanks 0Love this 4Oh no 0Business owner information

Hi Joyce,
Thank you for your feedback! I appreciate that you went out of your own comfort zone to try a new dining experience like Baagan! Something we offer for the nori wrap is to wrap it in rice paper (no extra charge), like a giant spring roll, so that it stays contained which may enjoy more. An idea to try for next time, if you decide to try us again. Hope you do! If so, be sure to try the Cheesecake, Peanut Butter Cup, Prana Bowl, and Kitcheri....some fan favorites, especially meat-eaters, which most of our customers are. Hope we see you again! :) - I L.South Lake Tahoe, CA34175Apr 7, 2017Updated review
FYI-update: Baagan technically closed, but the new Zest Kitchen opened with the same great menu and same location with the same genius vegan chef at the helm-woohoo!
It's so great to have a restaurant with a full vegan menu-especially when each item is made fresh and delicious. Whenever we are in the area, we make a point of stopping in and we are never disappointed. They even have a separate low/no oil vegan menu for even healthier options. I have tried many of their dishes, but my favorite is their Prana Bowl. The beautiful bright golden broth surrounding brown rice and a rainbow of crisp vegetables topped with their cashew sour cream is delectable and addictive. For dessert, we shared a piece of their raw baklava cheesecake (their current highlighted cheesecake) which was so good, my husband insisted we come back again the following day! I just wish we had a Baagan restaurant in our town, but for now we have to settle for whenever we are near the Roseville area!Helpful 3Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0Business owner information

PUMPKIN CINNAMON ROLL CHEESECAKE! TRY IT. TRY IT NOW.
Excuse me for my caps, but dear sir/madam reading this, this cheesecake is insanely good! What sorcery did they cast to make this dessert so delectable? The fusion of pumpkin cheesecake and cinnamon roll buns on one plate is a match made in heaven!
My favorite entree from Baagan was one of their dishes for the Vegan Chef Challenge; "Trio" of Sweet Potato Scallion Pancakes, Coconut Chile Brown Rice, and Baby Greens w/Orange Ginger Dressing and Cashews. The pancakes were delicious. The rice was fluffy and full of flavor. And the salad was anything but boring, the dressing was amazing.
Baagan also serves up some mean smoothies like their famous Chocolate Peanut Butter Cup :)
Go dine there today for something delicious and healthy!Helpful 4Thanks 0Love this 7Oh no 0Business owner information

This place is super clean and healthy. So much variety on their menu to choose from. The flavor in their items is very unique. I Believe they have an Indian touch but not the explosion of all the spices. Mainly because most of the items that are made are either raw or barely cooked. Which honestly is not a bad taste. The drink is a must try "Kambucha". Comes and many different flavors.
One of my favorite veggie wrap places from now on.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0Business owner information

Where's the beef, you ask? You don't need it if you are dining here!
I stopped in for a quick bite and I was impressed with the layout of this somewhat small cafe. It's a quaint little cafe with soothing New Age music, I felt as if I stepped into a yoga studio. It was what I needed after Christmas shopping and running errands around town!
I was a bit indecisive as to what to order, and the gal behind the counter suggested I try the veggie sandwich. The staff is so friendly and welcoming, and very eager to educate you on their different menu items.
One bite of my sandwich and I was in heaven, I never thought that a sandwich with no meat could taste that good. I added avocado to my sandwich and it really complimented all the different textures of the vegetables in the sandwich. Such a hearty sandwich, without the guilt of clogging your arteries on fast food.
I still love burgers but this place kind of tempts me to come back again and try some other vegan options.Helpful 10Thanks 0Love this 6Oh no 0 - Marina M.Sacramento, CA309189879Nov 16, 2016Updated review

Ordered this time Turkish coffee with my husband and we really liked it! Tasty!
Also ordered veggie hummus sandwich and it was delicious! I recommend it!
And tiger burger was delicious but so so so oily! It was dripping fat from my hands while I was eating it. They fry in tooo much oil the pattie and filling of the burger.
Yes we still going to come back here :)
Been here already couple times with my little family.
So far what we like here to eat is the lentil soup which was full of flavor but I wish it was little bit more soupy and not like kasha consistency.
Also burger was perfectly moist and full of flavor! Yum I'll get that again next time.
Hummus sandwiches was so delicious!!! Perfect for kids or adults!
Eggplant panini on the other hand was too blend, bread was soggy. It was nothing like panini sandwich should be.
Cashew chocolate cake was too rich and fattening flavor for me and I could not taste chocolate much and I wanted that chocolate fix.
Quinoa wrap was dry and lack flavor. I think adding like hummus to it would bring it to another level of goodness!
Other then that this place is pretty good and I cannot wait to come back for moreHelpful 2Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0Business owner information

Hi Marina, thank you very much for your detailed review and pictures! We're happy to hear you were pleased with so much at your visit! About the Panini, we have switched to a new seasonal flavor that you might really like: butternut squash sautéed with kale, red onions, and a pinch of red pepper flakes and served with crisp red bell peppers and our house made sage pumpkinseed pesto. Lots of balanced flavors, that I think you'll enjoy. Oh, and be sure to try our rich silky smooth Chocolate Pudding (lightly spiced with sophisticated flavors and fresh lemon zest--also no added oil or nuts since it's avocado-based) and our Salted Caramel Chocolate Brownies which are both very chocolately! Hope we get to see you again soon!

Wow what a great place!! Wish there was more restaurants like this one. Very high quality and fresh!
Walked in with my family, read the menu and couldn't decide what to order. A little bit help from the cashier was a great help and suggestion.
We ordered:
Baagan burger: was extremely good, crispy out and soft inside. very light and still with full of taste. The patty made out of grilled vegetables and beans. With cashews dressing, lettuce and tomato.
Quinoa warp: I ordered the spinach herb tortilla filled with cooked quinoa, avocado, lettuce, cucumber, tomatoes, carrots, with spicy dressing. The warp was very colorful and fresh. The only thing I didn't like was that the wrap was served cold.
Tuesday soup; lentils soup: The soup was good with strong curry taste.
Baagan food are 100% vegan, fresh vegetables and ingredients, super healthy.
They also sales spices, herb, tea and other healthy stuff.Helpful 7Thanks 0Love this 5Oh no 0Business owner information

Hi Zehavit,

Seeking out fresh & healthy food, we ventured to Baagan because of the rave reviews! For the most part, it lived up to the reviews.
The nori roll wrapping in a spring roll was amazingly fresh! I felt so good about myself eating it (haha). It was packed with veggies and started spilling out a bit but overall I enjoyed it. The cilantro pesto spread (I think?) was great but having the additional hummus was an excellent idea! It was SUPER filling - I would almost save the second half for later but even if you don't, you don't feel horrible eating all of it!
The Baagan burger is not as fresh in comparison but still good. The patty is moist and well seasoned - something that I worry about with veggie patties. I would've enjoy it more if it had more veggies though.
Overall, it was tasty & fresh. The flavors were super special but I'm open to coming back to try different spreads and their smoothies!Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0Business owner information
