      Ugh! I rented from Avis because I used them recently and had a great experience; unfortunately, that did not carry over to the Charleston Airport experience in late Feb 2024! My wife and I flew into Charleston and by luck, found the Avis/Budget counter rather quickly. There were 4 people ahead of us, and as luck had it, 2 for Budget and 2 for Avis (they shared the same counter with the same staff!). We waited about 45 minutes to get to the counter, and by that time there were 20+ customers behind us! Im sure they waited hours to get a car! A supervisor was looking at information at a computer, but around 5pm gathered her purse and left!! That left 2 reps to handle all of the customers! What the heck? The car was across the street in the garage and no one was there to walk around the car or answer questions about the car. Definitely lacking "service" at this location. The car had just been washed, but I drove to the exit, cleared the car thru security and drove away. As for the car, it was fine. It was suppose to be a Camry, but ended up being a small Hyundai Venue. Even if I wanted to change it, it wasn't worth waiting in the line again. Two workers for the counter and to handle all the customers, that was crazy! Dropping the car off a week later, I was told by the attendant "when we take it in, we'll send a receipt." There was no way we were going to walk away without them acknowledging the return of the car. The attendant was annoyed I asked him to check-in the car, but I could tell that delays only led to problems, which I didn't want to resolve when back at home. This was such a bad customer service experience, that I might just end up paying a higher dollar rate and go elsewhere to avoid a repeat hassle as I did with Avis.

      Ok, never utilize this company as they remain the biggest ripoff in this world or the next.
      We have numerous issues with Avis with the biggest one being that only one person is working the counter and there are 14 people waiting on line to get their rental vehicle.
      It's 12:30 at night and nobody is a happy camper here.
      Meanwhile, at their competition Alamo, Enterprise, Hertz, they have moved their customers without any issues, delays or complaints.
      With today's technology, they know how many people are renting vehicles so there is no need for this BS.
      Also, our flight changed and we had to change our reservation by a few days and they charged us an additional $150!!!!!
      Really.
      Wait, there's more, it took over 3 hours for us to get our car! We didn't leave the airport until 3am in the morning. The Avis rental car experience was actually longer than our flight!
      It was an insane experience, they were literally searching their lot for any drivable vehicle and eventually, we were given a dirty Hyundai. Please keep in mind that we paid for an upscale luxury car.
      I wish they would let me leave a negative number because that's what they deserve!

      This location is the worst of the worst. Think of the slowest place you have ever done business and they will fall below that in speed. If I wasn't forced to use them, I would avoid them at all cost.

      I am required to use Avis for work, and Charleston it is the absolute worst. Every time I come into Charleston I wait in line for an hour. There's only one customer service rep at the counter and the express checkout never works for me, I assume because it's a company card.

      Waited in line for almost two hours at Charleston International to pick up our rental. One guy at the desk with at least 50 people in line. We'll never rent from Avis again.

      Do not rent here. The wait is insane and it averages about 20 minutes per customer. Unacceptable and horrible customer service. The other car rental service were just as busy and serviced their customers very quickly.

      I wish I could give this place a zero star review. This has to be the worst rental car experience that I have ever had. I've been traveling since probably age 8, and never have I ever spent as much time waiting to get a car. There has to be at least 20 other people waiting to get cars, and there is only one employee working at a snail speed at that. Seriously, drink an energy drink and get some speed if they're going to put you on shift alone. Avis, shame on you for putting a snail behind the desk by himself. Poor guy and poor consumers.

      Did not have enough larger sized vehicle we prepaid for and was given a smaller vehicle. Was told since we prepaid they cannot refund us any money and there was nothing they could do. Additionally, location did have larger vehicles available but did not want to give them to us who prepaid but rather to those who still hadn't paid to maximize their profit. This place is awful and will try to steal your money. Do yourself a favor and avoid AVIS and their slimy sales tactics.

      Worst rental company ever! I used Avis for the first time and last time due to a discount from Chase. Upon arriving the wait was over one hour, longer then my actual flight! Forget about quick check in online, you still have to give them all your info at the front desk.

      When I went down to pick up my rental the car was not there, instead they instructed me to take a different car and wrote the information down on paper.

      When returning the car the person receiving the car had no idea about the situation or record of the car switch.

      No verification email I ever picked up the car
      No verification email I ever returned the car.

      What's going on here?
