Avalon Seafood

My family has been ordering lobsters from Avalon Seafood for years. Given that 4th of July was going to be a bit different in the light of pandemic, we decided to order steamers and lobster for a dinner at home. I placed the order by phone two days ahead of time and everything was ready for pick up at the time I needed it. Steamers were SO delicious--not one grain of sand in any of the ones had. Lobsters were perfectly cleaned and cooked.

I would have given no stars if I could. Ordered dinner for 6:00, they absolutely had no idea about the order. As if that wasn't bad enough the Crab Legs were rotten, and smelly. So very sad, this place has been our go to for over 30 years. Never again.

Always great. Nothing fancy or extravagant. Fresh quality seafood at a reasonable price. Fried scallops were excellent --plump, fresh, and juicy. Clam strip was was full of tender fried clam strips. King Crab and Clams were steamed to perfection. The cream of crab soup was just OK for me. It was entirely too heavy on the Sherry. It was all I could taste. I ordered the king crab leg dinner. I received a few crab legs with steamed clams which I didn't order. I don't know what happened here. No explanation upon pick up, and I didn't know it until I got home. I have had this dinner in the past, and it was all crab legs. Overall my family was very satisfied.

Quality seafood and well run family business. Coming here for 20 years and always good, never a problem with ordering or waiting too long - its a well run operation. Our go-to's are Dan's Lump Crabmeat broiled with fries and the broiled scallops with a baked potato.

Delicious fresh food on the go! We stopped in here for some takeout on the way out of Avalon and it hit the spot! The portions were large, The service was quick, and the food was fresh and delicious. We also got some fresh seafood to take home. We would definitely stop here again on the next trip.

Take out order of calamari, clam strips and chicken fingers. All were tasty. Calamari was tender and seasoned but marinara was watered down. Chicken fingers were ok but homemade honey mustard was delish. Clam strips were good too. Very friendly staff. Food was good just not OMG I cant wait to go there again. Loved the fresh fish available to cook at home maybe we will try that next time.

First time, last time. Wasn't worth the expense and the owners make me scratch my head with puzzlement. I walked in, THE ONLY ONE IN THE SHOP, and said I here for my pickup. Standing in front of the counter - looking at the woman at the cash register and saying again, here for my pickup. At this time another person walked in and said he was here for his takeout. They proceeded to get his order and the woman behind the counter asked me to move aside. WTF??!! I'm a professional salesperson- I know how to get a long with people. But that treatment was over the top. So much so, the customer service was terrible. Now, the food? Pass. I was looking forward to some old school seashore seafood and we'll, let's say, I wasn't impressed. The crab soup was like pudding. Really, that thick. I'll give them a ten for the crab fingers. Very small portion- but still delicious. The whole sinner is not something I've experienced in the past. Bottom line, like I wrote in the first sentence- first time, last time. Pardon the pun; but there are plenty of seafood places in Avalon & Stone Harbor that will gladly take my next $130.00/takeout order. (That's what we paid) Two stars is all I can give this operation.

We ordered the

Owner extremely rude and disgruntled. There is no reason to be rude to a customer bc they are there purchasing seafood instead of pre made dinner (which aren't that good anyways.) Made feel like I was a bother as opposed to a valued customer. He also speaks to his employees with distain. Limited options on the island but skip this one if possible.

Wrong potato, extremely bland flounder, and definitely not "generous" portions as advertised. And when I showed up on the exact time they told me, the cashier asked the expeditor if my order was ready, and he snapped back a grouchy "No!" He also later asked the crowd why everyone was here at 7:25. Maybe that's because they were told that on the phone? They seemed to be more annoyed that they were crowded as opposed to grateful. I did call back and told them about the wrong potato and they said I could come back but wasn't a drive I wanted to do again. I should have checked my order before I left the store because a woman in front of me came back with a platter and must've had an issue also. Better options available elsewhere.
