The Authentik Byrek truck recently drew me in at the Manayunk StrEAT Food Festival with a free sample of their Mixed Cheese Byrek. Sampling worked because our group of three ended up buying two full-sized byreks after trying that one delicious bite!

      The two flavors we purchased:
-Chicken Tomato Pesto: YUM. Tender chicken in a light yet very flavorful tomato sauce. The pesto mixed in adds another kick of flavor. There was just the right amount of cheese.
-Spinach and Cheese: Even though I don't love cooked spinach, I really liked this one! The feta gave it a bite but did not overpower it.

Although I really liked the Chicken Tomato Pesto, I have to say, the Mixed Cheese Byrek that we sampled is still my favorite one. The mix of cheeses was just so good. It was creamy and full of ricotta and thinking about it right now is making me sad that I don't have another. I would definitely come back to this truck next time I see it at a festival!

Let's talk about value. Each byrek ranges from $7 to $8 and is huge! Much bigger than anticipated, especially at a food truck festival full of small bites. One of these would definitely make a good lunch or dinner with a side.

Great service at this truck as well. I am looking forward to trying the Beef Byrek and some of their Tzatziki next time I stop by.

Five star!! I was pleasantly surprised to see something new in the food truck scene. I never tried a byrek before. I was a bit skeptical but the owners were very nice so I figure I'd try it. It was the best decision I've made all week! I had the classic with ground beef and onion. This byrek is a savory, thin pastry that is very similar to a pot pie crust, except more fluffy. The filling is the lovechild of a Philly cheesesteak and an English meat pie. When I eat pot pie, I have always wanted more of that delicious crust, with the byrek, the whole thing is covered in pastry dough! My byrek came hot and fresh from the oven. I feel like I'm visiting a friend and their grandma just baked this for me.

So imagine this, a huge pastry with a healthy serving of filling with drinks is 6 dollars! Top notch food, cheap prices and get this, amazing service, from a lunch truck!! I parked behind the truck and the owner actually checked on me to see if the food was up to par. I asked him about the other items on the menu and get this! He offered me an extra steak byrek to take home, just because they were happy to see someone enjoying their creations.

In a materialistic world where people fight for nickels and dimes, this warmed my heart. What happens when you have talent+professionalism+passion? You have Authentik Byrek! Come try this Turkish dish and be hooked. If you are in the area, treat yourself to one. If you live far away, come here and grab 20 for the family, they will love you for it! I haven't been this excited for a lunch truck in awhile. This spot is highly recommended!

I have been meaning to write this review for so long because that's how sweet they are! I went there for my manager's birthday and because I had been dying to try byreks. When I got there, the owner (I'm so sorry I don't know if I ever asked what your name was) asked me about my manager and I told him it was a surprise for his birthday. Once he heard that, he threw in aryan in the house! I thought it was just milk LOL (I was close)! Anyway, my manager Chim was so happy and even thought I made the byreks hahahaha I wish. Shumë falemimderit!!! :p

For five bucks- You cant go wrong! I had the chicken pesto with cheese and tomatoes and it was delicious. Perfectly seasoned and not overly stuffed or skimpy. Very filling! I would love to try others.

Guy was nice! They are pre-made but no worries- it isn't at all like eating reheated food. They were warm and ready within 5 minutes. Only con- they cant be made to order. I would love the option to add a veggie or cheese to one. Either way, I will be back! The ground meat is what I would like to try next..

Delicious!! Fresh and super flavorful, make sure you grab something from this truck if you happen to see it! The staff who run the truck are super friendly and fun! Price is very inexpensive, about $5 for one byrek, and $9 for two...plus they have various combos/specials.
You get a ton of food for your dollar, and every cent is worth it! Very filling and perfectly stuffed and seasoned! I have tried several of the different items, my favorite is the Spinach and Cheese Byrek Spanakopita...but everything is good! I have tried almost all of the different options, as I often go with coworkers, get a few different ones and then share/taste each others!

The veggie Byrek was very delicious. The pastry shell is very fresh and light. Super nice staff as well. Would like to try more and more.

Went to this food cart to try something new and am incredibly happy to report that it satisfied all of my food cravings. Priced at $5 - which used to be my threshold when I was a grad student. It is filling and non-greasy. I ordered a Spanakopita. It was delicious. Definitely coming back. Hope this food cart survives. It definitely deserves longer lines than it currently seems to have.
Not sure if they have a credit card or Venmo option. That might help attract some of the college crowd.

Outstanding. Only complaint was that it took a while but that is probably a good thing since you know it's fresh.

      Keep up the excellent work!

A must stop for any foodie. I would not typically choose this kind of place but I am so glad I did. Their food left me speechless. It was so amazing. I had the number 2 and it was to die for. Came right out of the oven piping hot and I quickly devoured it. Never had anything like this and I can't wait to come back again.

Not only is the food amazing but the people are great to. They are super friendly and you can tell they really care about their business and product.
