I have an automatic pool cover system that has been problem-free since it was installed several years ago. My pool's cleanliness is dependent on the automatic cover as it prevents the debris constantly blown by the wind from all of my neighbors' trees. Last week, I attempted to close the cover after leaving it open overnight and it would not closed. Under the motor cover, I found broken screws. I started to call pool cover companies. All of them gave me about a week wait for service. Aquatech came in first for availability, but one week was still too long to leave my pool uncovered. I made the appointment as I was left with no choice. As I fretted and imagined how much debris would be blown into the pool water, I received a call from Bryan two hours later. He happened to be in my area and could come in 30 minutes if I was available. His call was very timely, his service was quick and to the point. He arrived promptly, was very polite, and certainly knowledgeable about his trade. I was very pleased with Bryan's action and I commend him. Bryan, thank you.

We love our new pool cover. Unfortunately, after only having at two months in the middle of winter it now has two holes in it. The repair tech is here now so we'll see how this goes. I will update when I have more news.

Hi again. Update: AquaTech sent an employee out to photograph the pool cover and tears. While they could find no reason for the tears, (their best guess is the pool hose got caught in it while uncovering) it was determined it was not a defect so it was not covered by the warranty. Our only option was for them to repair the vinyl with patches at no cost.
I spoke to the CEO, Bruce, and asked if we could purchase a replacement cover. They sent us a quote for replacing the cover at wholesale. We have 30 days to decide.
So, will these patches hold? Will it tear again? We'll see. We are expecting our first grandson in May and his safety is our first priority.
Buyer Beware. The vinyl tarp is not part of the covered warranty.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0Business owner information

FYI We did try and get you a PR on your Pool Cover from the manufacture.
So let me get this right. In your first review you said you would have given us a 5 star review except now your pool cover has a hole in it. Correct so far?
After I sent one of our top techs out within 3 days of your problem you immediately write us a 2 star review on yelp BEFORE you have even spoken to us basically as a threat. (Your statement: the repair tech is here now and we will see where this goes). I personally spent 20 minutes with you on the phone trying to explain that any warranty is designed to protect the consumer from defects in the Manufacturing process or Installation, not damage caused by something out of our control. We agreed on the phone, that day, that the damage to your cover was not caused by the Manufacture or by a faulty installation of the cover by AquaTech. At my expense, we sent a tech on a 150 mile trip to fix your pool cover which in no way, we were at fault on. In addition to repairing your pool cover at no expense to you, we offered to replace it at our cost if you wanted to do that as well. Your statement that the pool cover does not carry a warranty is not true and you have a written copy of it. (We will E-mail another copy of it just in case you cant find it). The fabric is a 18 ounce Dacron mesh laminated vinyl that carries a seven year warranty.
Question: If you buy a new car and someone backs into it and you weren't there would you expect or even ask the dealer or Manufacture to replace it? Wouldn't you be thrilled if they repaired it for free? Your cover is as safe as the day it was installed.
Please feel free to call me instead of making slanderous and inflammatory comments on a public forum.

She is threatening to write a news article on our company if we don't come out sooner. "I've actually just been asked to speak again at the crisis communication summit to highlight this case study of how a small business response during Covid" We consider this extortion. She is blackmailing us. She said if we come out sooner, she will not write the article. But if don't come out sooner, she is going to destroy my business. I have our phone conversation available to anyone who wants a copy. She is claiming to work for Forbes magazine. "Mary Simms knows how to command attention, shape the conversation, dominate any situation, and create and leverage PR opportunities". Check her out on linkedin. She thinks she can shape the conversation with pool cover service. This is where we lost connection. Maybe if she was nice, she would have gotten her way. Her bullying tactics are not going to work here. Ill be sure to post our recorded conversation to youtube so everyone at forbes knows how she uses their name to get her way with service companies even when we are in no kind of warranty and we are in no obligation to help her. She simply thinks she is better than everyone else and is a bully.
We sold her a $2069 replacement pool cover fabric in 7/2/19 ($20,000???). We did not install a pool cover system for her. She has a coverstar system installed by Coverstar and who knows how old it is. At this point we are refusing to do business with her which is something we have never done in 25 years of business. We don't do business with people like this. She thinks she can shame us on social media and threaten her way. We are not having it and we are standing up for what we believe is right.
MARY, THERE ARE 5 OTHER COMPANIES OUT THERE. YOU ARE OUT OF WARRANTY 7/2/19 and this at this point we are refusing to do business with you. We will not be coming out to your property. We don't want you as a customer.
When this customer called, we gave her the same canned speech we give to every customer. "We are currently booking out 4 to 8 weeks for service. There is a good chance we will be able to move you up". Look at all our other reviews where people give us 5 stars for making it out sooner than expected. Jobs move around constantly due to timing of construction and freight. Freight alone has been impossible to count on due to COVID this year. Freight says its coming on Tuesday. We don't receive it for a week later and there is nothing we can do about it. Add the extreme heat, fires, smoke. This is now part of our business and we are dealing with the effects of covid and elements out of our control.
This customer is lying about us installing it out of alignment. She is claiming the service tech told her its normal for a crooked pool cover when we installed it over a year ago. Who would actually believe that? We sent a different senior tech out 7/15/19 to check and here are his notes. And we warrantied this call. The techs notes say "Cover is running perfectly fine. I think the homeowner was just holding the key switch up too long and slamming into the end so it would spool up force and come back on itself. I ran the cover
multiple times for her and it had no issues whatsoever. I explained how to operate the cover correctly".
She is claiming to have videos and pictures from July 2019 of it out of alignment and we are still waiting for those.
There is no way it would have run for over a year crooked. Once a pool cover starts to run crooked, it keeps getting worse every single time you use it until something breaks or the cover comes out of track. We offer a one year labor warranty. The purpose of this warranty is to cover the chance we did something wrong. If we did something wrong, it would shine before a year. She had a year to bring this to our attention.
Either way, she is 3 months out of warranty (Not one month), she should have dealt with the issue sooner. Who would actually believe that its normal for a pool cover to run crooked? If she would have just been patient like everyone else, we would have more than likely serviced her already since she is only 25 minutes away. But now, She is trying to damage my business because she thinks she is special and doesn't want to wait like everyone else. Covid made us more in demand than usual, everyone is home and wants pool cover service. We stopped taking on new customers the beginning of September so we can be sure to keep up with our existing customer database. Its not fair for our existing customer base to wait this long and we are doing everything we can to decrease their wait time.
Please email Aaron@atps.me for a copy of our service records, recorded phone call conversation or a copy of our emails where she threatens writing a Forbes news article because we can't service her in time for her party. We dont do business with terrorists. Mary Simms, lets please both go our separate ways. We are no longer serving each other. #FirstwoldproblemsOct 6, 2020Previous reviewSo disappointed with this experience. We've invested over $20,000 in our pool cover, which this company told us would replace a fence. It does not, as they will not come out for eight weeks while our pool cover sets unable to be in service, completely submerged. They originally installed it out of alignment and we're kind to quickly come out and tell us that it was no big deal. They did not fix it, and exactly one month after their labor warranty expired, this happened. They are refusing to acknowledge their responsibility or liability, or even respond to an email an. I would highly suggest avoiding this company if you have children and are interested in child proofing your pool in a Safeway. Living with this open pit for the next eight weeks with a six-year-old twins will be scary to say the least.

PLEASE NOTE: You may be able to get Coverstar Safety Pool Covers to service your pool cover and still get coverage under the manufacturer warranty. Please try them (925) 240-0054. I was able to do this after getting no response from AquaTech and then finding out that they shut down.

The owner agreed to honor what the tech told me at installation. Hopefully, no more issues going forward.
Had a pool cover installed last year and was told by the installers to call within 12 months for one free service and adjustment since the ropes stretch significantly within the first few months. He said that after that they charge you to come back. Called to get my one free service and the woman who answered the phone said that there is no such thing as a free adjustment and acted like I was crazy. She further insulted me by saying "well we have to pay our employees" as if my $10,000 wasn't payment enough. She also told me that they have no control over what their technicians say (yes, you do) and that that employee no longer works at the company, as if that somehow justifies what happened. Avoid this company at all cost. Horrible customer service. They don't return phone calls or emails. They damage the tiles on my pool I refuse to claim responsibility.
Aquatech did my pool cover installation as a subcontractor from my pool installation last year. The initial installation seemed to work ok. I noticed some screws missing and some coming off so I asked them to come to fix those along with some pin holes. They were not a part of the warranty so I was done with paying for it out of pocket.
When they left, they said to keep the cover open for the adhesive to dry. The next day when I try to open and close the cover, it was stuck and making strange noise. I took a video and sent it to the tech. He told me to not run it anymore until they get back out because they're shifting dog was not engaging.
When he came out he confirmed that the shifting dog needed to be replaced and wasn't sure why it would not work given that is relatively new. When he tried to put my travel team tile back on the pool cover housing he had trouble doing it and jammed it in there. At some point he also jumped on top of the tile to try to get it back in. He told me if I needed to open and close the pool to remove the tile and manually engage the pool cover. When I came back out to check his work he was already gone but I noticed that the tile was really jammed in there and I could not remove it. Prior to this visit for over a year I have been able to move the travertine tiles in and out.
I sent the company email to show them that the tile was not placed back in properly and asked if they were going to be able to remove this when they come back to install the new parts without breaking the tiles. No response. Eventually they came out when I was on vacation to fix the cover. When I got there they left me a note saying that they actually didn't replace the part as they had told me they would but I said just move the mechanism around and now it is working. I went to check the tiles and they were a bunch of chipped and broken parts around the area that they were fixing.
I sent them an email with all the pictures mentioning that they broke the tiles and asked when they were coming back to make the tile repair. They ignored me for weeks even though I called their office and sent emails. They eventually told me that Bruce the owner responded already which he didn't. I asked him for an update and he responded saying that he got in touch with my pool installer and that it was his fault for installing the tiles to tight so he should fix it.
I called the pool installer and he basically said that Bruce blamed him for something that he installed a year before that work just fine when he left. He said if Bruce wants him to replace the tiles he would have to pay him $1200. I relayed the email message to Bruce. He proceeded to ignore my emails and phone calls for weeks. This all started mid May. I finally emailed Bruce at the end of July telling him that if I don't hear back from him I'm going to have to take some legal actions and write review for what I think it's pretty bad service.
He finally reply saying the only reason he hasn't responded to me was because my claims were ridiculous. Maintains that is the pool installers fault and says if I file an insurance claim that is fraudulent. In the same email admits that he broke one tile and has pictures to prove that's the only one they broke. So this whole time he knows he damage my property never admits to it, doesn't bother to call me to apologize or attempt to fix the tile he broke, and still blames me. This is pretty horrible customer service. When I told him I would file or a claim with my insurance he basically told me it would be fraudulent.
I've talk to the pool installer and he is completely supportive of any information he needs to provide to my insurance company for the claim. He is no longer working with Aquatech as well because he said because of situation like this where it is clear that their customer service and quality have taken a major decline. I have attached the picture below for your reference.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - George S.Port Townsend, WA4423Aug 18, 2020
This is our third time using AquaTech, and we've been very pleased every time. These folks are pros.
Today they replaced the pool cover on our ~25 x 50 foot pool - no small job. Even though it was about 103 degrees on the pool deck today, Dan & Devin worked steadily through the morning until the job was done. They gave us good advice on how to get the most life out of the cover, how to maintain it, and answered some detailed question on fine points of adjusting the mechanism. Our pool is not as square as it ought be, they patiently opened and closed the new cover and fine tuned the adjustments until everything worked smoothly. They finished with a thorough clean up, and reset the pool furniture.
And they were great with our dogs.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Ken P.San Leandro, CA715910May 28, 2021Updated review
This review is hard to write as a single entry. It should be two reviews.
They deserve 4 stars for the initial installation and quality of their cover (minus one star for the semi-ridiculous cost and poor scheduling). However they don't deserve any stars at all for their service. As others have noted, and I found on our installation, they are unable to honor the service and maintenance of their product. When anything goes wrong, it seems that they are incapable of providing service in a timely manner. The cables for our cover seem to have jammed, and we were given a service date 12 weeks out ! That means that we won't have our cover for almost the entire summer ! We actually had to buy one of those solar "bubble wrap" covers (at a cost of $150). It makes me wonder how long I would have to wait if I wanted to buy a new cover, I suspect much less that 12 weeks. So, 3 stars for the install, 0 stars for the service, averages out to a very, very generous 2 stars.
They seem to be completely unable to manage their scheduling.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0Business owner information

Hi Ken,
I have been meaning to respond to your feedback left on yelp for some time now. I wanted you to know that I can see where you are coming from 100%. We should have called to explain what we found and we should have done a better job of communicating our scheduling.
This comment is to hopefully help you understand why the things unfolded the way they did.
We just lost our Tech Bryan who at the time was building all of our benches. He was training Andrew to take his place for the last 6 months as we knew this time was coming. According to Bryan, Andrew was doing a great job and was ready to be on his own. We wanted to be sure and sent our main installer Pervis with him.
9/7/18 we scheduled your Installation for 10/8/18 with Pervis and the bench 10/9/18 and 10/11/18 with Andrew. After Pervis came out on 10/8, he advised he needs to be the one to finish because of the extreme deck slope. This is what started the delay...
We called and spoke to your wife 10/9/18 letting her know this and letting her know we would reschedule asap. Please see attached phone recording. We did tell her we would call when we only sent an email. This was our first screw up.
We use an automated scheduling service. Just like the doctors office or dentist office uses these days. It basically asks you to confirm, decline, or reschedule your appointment automatically with reminders.
Looks like you confirmed the installation date 10/8 via our automated system but we didn't get a response for 10/10/18 (We should have called you either way). This is when you mentioned "we just showed up" in the review.
We should have notified you 10/11 that we didn't finish and needed to come back out. We could have explained that we probably wont know until the day before because we are trying to squeeze it in. This is our second screw up. I will be the first to admit it.
("They also seem to have a problem scheduling their resources. While the first day of work went well and the basic install was completed, we were told that we would receive a call when the workers would return to build the bench. A couple of days later, the workers showed up with no notice.")
I can send the automated Log showing delivery confirmations upon request.
You called 10/16/18 wanting to check in and we still did not have an answer because Pervis was booked out solid and we were trying to squeeze you in. We just happen to be working on your account the day you called and was able to squeeze you in on the 17th which you confirmed. We could have had better customer service, no doubt about it.
Everything was completed.
We really have the best intentions.I hope you can see we had some challenges along the way but wanted to do the right thing. We wanted your bench to come out perfect. You're not going to have any more issues moving forward. Please feel free to reach out to me directly in the future for any reason. Please give us a second chance to make it right.
Kindly,
AaronOct 17, 2018Previous reviewA difficult review to write.
I had a pool cover and bench installed. The workmanship and finished product were very well done and I have no complaints about any of that.
The workers were very competent and easy to work with.
The office was a different matter.
The pricing for the bench was ridiculous. I decided to pay anyway since the rest of their system seemed to be the best.
They also seem to have a problem scheduling their resources. While the first day of work went well and the basic install was completed, we were told that we would receive a call when the workers would return to build the bench. A couple of days later, the workers showed up with no notice. Luckily we had nothing planned and just let them proceed. They worked that day from 9am to 9pm trying to complete the job since they were scheduled for another job the next day. I would have cut them off, but they were doing great work and I was afraid of getting the "B-team" to complete to work. Now the bench was nearly completed with just minor touch-up to be done. After a week of not hearing back, I called and asked when our bench was going to be completed. Apparently, had I not called, the answer was weeks out. After complaining, however, they sent out a crew the next morning.
It comes down to good workers, but poor scheduling. Hopefully, we won't have problems, because I have no faith in their ability to provide timely service. - Mar 15, 2020Updated review
I had AquaTech install a pool cover in 2008. It worked great and customer service was very responsive too. In 2017, I had to have a replacement due to normal wearing. The new cover works well and this time, I signed up for the preventative maintenance plan. Every year, they come to inspect the cover and parts. By signing up for the plan, my warranty is extended. This time, Dan serviced the pool cover. He noticed that we accidentally left the valve open and water was being pumped out of the pool. He took care of it and made sure to add water to the pool. Great service!

We get a great deal of wind in the evening and the pool cover nicely kept out the leaves. The cover needed replacement this year, and Branden and Jimmy came out to replace the fabric. They cleaned out all the leaves that had accumulated under the cover roll and the housing. Installation was done in less than two hours. They arrived a little before the appointment window which was great. They did a great job!

I am writing this review on behalf of my mother in law. These are her words, written under my account.
Brandon and Matt came to my home today to replace my pool cover. They were strong, presentable young men who displayed great teamwork. Their display of knowledge built confidence in the company and their product. Also in this day and age to find two young men not having a slip of the tongue with offensive language was quite refreshing.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0Business owner information

I'm glad everyone is having a great experience with AquaTech. My experiences have not been as positive. They seem to have a problem returning calls, don't do a great job with repairs, make me wait weeks to return and then try to charge me for it. They then act like they're doing me a favor by "waiving" the $500 service charge to repair their faulty work. I had to call Coverpools to get a new vendor, which has been extremely responsive and came out next day.
Communication is atrocious. I'll call in, leave messages and then get some random email with an appointment that wasn't coordinated from a machine account. That's if I'm lucky enough to get a call back.
If you want to speak with someone who is less than friendly, doesn't return calls and makes you wait 3+ weeks for service, AquaTech is your spot.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0Business owner information

120% satisfied. I have had an existing automatic pool cover for over 15 years and it was problematic. Rats would chew on the ropes and we would constantly need service. I had aquatech install their new stainless steel cable automatic pool cover system and bench in January and I couldn't be happier. Gina in the office scheduled their territory manager to come out and meet with me within a few days. I received a written estimate that evening. Their price was competitive with their top three competitors online. I really like the fact they offer cables instead of ropes. The entire process only took 3 weeks. I will save you the time, no need to shop anywhere else. These guys are the best. I love my new pool cover! Absolutely no issues from start to finish. Thank you aquatech team!
