Had a massage at this spa. Romeo is unmatched when it comes to deep tissue. In my past couple of years looking for the perfect massage therapist around the area, no one has ever come close to the amount of pressure Romeo provides. Will be going here from now on

The whole team/family at Advance Health & Wellness are amazing. I've been going for several months, feeling better everyday. From start (checking in) to adjustments by the Great Dr. Shah to the best massage therapists (they are all great) but a special shout out to Antwoine. Two thumbs up, 5 stars, they are it! I would highly recommend to anyone and everyone!

I started seeing Dr Shah for acupuncture. My first impression of the place was not good. It was dirty I cringed every time I walked into to acupuncture room and seen that old stained sheet on the bed. There were times I often changed the disposable face covers myself. At my first appointment he asked to see my tongue for half a second but, seemed very uninterested in my mri reports and diagnosis's of my neck and back injuries. Unfortunately, he is one of the only places around that accepted insurance for massage so I kept going.
I had my doubts about him from the start. He never asked how I was doing he just came in the room and stuck the needles in wherever he felt like sticking them all without any type of evaluation. I always felt like he didn't know what he was doing when it came to acupuncture. I was rarely ever offered a gown. I almost bought one for myself. The massages I received from the office girl is the only thing that helped me and as previously stated was covered by my medical insurance which he accepted. I have yet to find another massage therapist nearby who accepts insurance.
Dr Shah boasted about his chiropractor friends in the south seeing 100 patients a day. He would grill me about the insurance payments at every visit. ... Aetna is my primary insurer. Allstate is secondary and is responsible for my out of pocket expenses pertaining to my accident related injuries. Aetna always paid but, there were delays with Allstate.
Come to find out he wasn't billing Allstate correctly and was not sending in the required office notes. I don't think he even took notes like I said he never asked how my pain was. He didn't care it was all about money. My Allstate rep even personally reached out to him to get the info they required to pay the bill.
I doubt he ever had any training in acupuncture. The office is very unprofessional. They even solicited me to leave them a good review on google which I regret.
Anyways on August 2nd I took the 40 minute drive over there for my scheduled appointment. Instead of being treated he took me into his personal office and pulled up my bill. He complained about billing Aetna a certain amount but, like all insurances there is a lesser agreed upon amount they actually pay out. He wasn't happy about that. After he got done complaining about Aetna (which is an insurance policy he accepted and agreed to do business with before I was ever a patient) he started in on me about the $589 Allstate owed him. I said that I contacted my agent who has reached out to them several times. He even acknowledge getting calls from her. I did my part all he had to do to receive payment was send them what they requested. I told him I would contact my agent AGAIN to see what the hold up was.
That particular day I was on the verge of a meltdown which I told him I was. He could see my shaking body and knew I could really use some relaxation. Instead of helping he kicked me out. He said even if Allstate pays him his $589 he isn't making enough money from Aetna to keep seeing me and he wasn't going to keep wasting his time. He could have just called me and told me that instead of having me drive all the way there so he could kick me out to my face. If he doesn't like the rate my insurance pays then why does he even accept it in the first place?
I could care less about the crappy acupuncture treatments he was performing but, I did benefit from the massage I got every week from his massage therapist and was really needing that massage to release my very painful trigger points but that didn't happen because he wasn't making enough money from my insurance company (that he does business with). How is that on me? How is that grounds to deny my treatment I came in for.
Once I walked out of the office and got in the elevator I lost it. As I said I told him I was on the verge of a meltdown (before he started harassing me about the insurance) You would think he would have some compassion being a doctor and all. Nope he didn't care at all. All he cared about was money. He could have let me have my massage and sent me packing but he didn't. He had me drive all the way over there to kick me to the curb. It was the icing on the cake. In the elevator I broke down and started crying. I was so worked up I had a major meltdown/panic attack. A nurse who worked in the hospital took me to the ER. Dr Shah even had the nerve to bill my insurance for treatments I never received that day.
I am not sure if he never got any training in acupuncture; it didn't seem like it. He performs and bills patients for something he doesn't appear to have much if any training in. I should have trusted my gut about him.
Get this.I stopped going in January to recover from surgery. I was iffy on returning to them, but they contacted me to schedule new appointments. Update I have now been threatened by his wife about falsifying my reviews. She said Id be hearing from their attorney. I said go ahead I stand by my review.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Desto I.Tucson, AZ83431Sep 27, 2018
Felt shady right from the beginning. Scheduled a day of appointment because I couldn't take the sudden back pain I had, I even had to leave work early. In the waiting room I hear them talking about upselling, no kidding. When I saw Dr. Shah, we discussed my pain and during the talk he mentioned multiple comments that made it seem that he was the all knowing best chiropractor in the world, he had the best equipment, worked with baseball players etc. I asked if there was anything he could do for me that day cause I couldn't handle it anymore. He said he'll see what he can do but first I should go get x-rays. I got the xrays in the same facility and came back. He reviewed the xrays and then gave me a sales pitch. Seriously, a sales pitch? Talking about all the things he could offer and the plan he would have for me. He even went as far to talk about the results other patients have had. I'm still there, sitting in pain. He could have done SOMETHING other than talk himself up. Finally its time to pay, the receptionist says I don't owe anything, my insurance covers it. I'm sure that's not right so Dr. Shah takes a look and he says I owe the full amount, over $100. That sounds more right than $0, so I pay and I'm off, still in pain but at least with xrays. Thankfully I decided to go elsewhere and received immediate help from a chiropractor that let his work do the talking.
But the story isn't done. My insurance gives me a claim saying that I only owe $30. I call Dr. Shah and they say they need to research. No call back, I get a FULL refund 2 weeks later. A week after that, I get a bill for $30. When I call them (again) to pay, that they had to do it this way because then it would look to auditors like they overcharged me.
Just don't go there. Don't settle. I've found an incredible chiropractor, and feel like I dodged a huge bullet by not returning to this place!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Gayle M.Barrington, IL04Jul 24, 2014
I've been visiting Dr. Shaw for about 5 years for cervical alignments. I had been experiencing significant neck and shoulder pain along with daily headaches. After an initial regiment of treatments, my pain has subsided and now I only schedule maintenance appointments. In my opinion the massage therapy prior to the adjustment is a requirement and a great benefit.
The office staff members are friendly and helpful and flexible with appointment scheduling. The visits are on time and prompt. I would recommend Dr. Shaw to my family and friends.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Mary Beth V.Schaumburg, IL011Jan 18, 2018
For two years now I've been receiving adjustments from Dr. Shah; he helps keep my neck and back feeling good. He has so many years of experience, I love the way he can take one look at me when I walk in the door and know exactly the type of adjustment I need to help me feel better. He, and his staff, are personable, organized and just nice people to deal with. He also treats my young daughter for scoliosis, something which runs in my family but I never imagined my child would be diagnosed with. He saw her one day and suggested she get X-rays because he could tell her spine was curved. I was hesitant, but low and behold, the X-rays proved his visual assessment was correct. Thankfully, through regular treatments, my daughter will be able to avoid a life of scoliosis related problems.

I was always really skeptical about going to a chiropractor. I have had back problems since I was a teenager and always just dealt with it. After having a chiropractic massage at Dr. Shah's office, I decided to give it a try and I am so glad I did.
Dr. Shah is both knowledgeable and personable. He answers all of your questions in depth and his priority is always doing what is best for his patients. Kori is amazing! She specializes in myofascial therapy and really knows how to work the muscles to relieve pain.
I have seen a drastic change in my pain since going regularly to Dr. Shah's office. I highly recommend if you have ever considered any chiropractic care.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Laura L.Aurora, IL492Jun 18, 2016
GO AT YOUR OWN RISK! I should have read Dr. Shah's reviews before I became a patient! I came to him with severe neck and back pain on May 21, 2016 and as of today June 18, 2016 I am STILL IN PAIN! I have seen him as he directed every two or three days, I have iced and placed heat on my neck and back, I even paid for a full set of x-rays, I reduced all activity and my pain still persists! There were even several occasions to which I felt 10 times WORSE directly after my visit with him!! I still chose to ride it out, in hopes that I would get better. BAD CHOICE! I called to reschedule ONE appointment a few hrs before due to the fact that my flight was delayed flying in to Chicago, I rescheduled into a slot that was already OPEN the next business day and he still charged me $75.00 saying that I did not show up! I tired to explain my situation to him and his staff, I explained that I was a good patient, I ALWAYS show up early and on TIME and I pay my bill directly when it is given to me and this was the FIRST time I had to reschedule amongst dozen's of appointments I already made. I was planning on becoming a long term patient, I was going to start acupuncture next. I was hoping for a little human decency and proper bed side manner and an exception of a greedy 75.00 fee due to a reschedule...fat chance! I can see a charge if people actually NO SHOW or call late to reschedule all the time, but his policy, lack of kindness and understanding and greediness is disgusting. He and his staff actually argued with me before my last appointment, he became angry and rude and took off the 75.00 charge and told me to leave. WHAT a greedy man! And to top it all off I STILL HAVE MY NECK AND BACK PAIN, despite following all of his instructions. PEOPLE chiropractors are a dime a dozen, I am positive there are more out there that are actually EFFECTIVE, KIND, UNDERSTADING and NOT GREEDY. BUT NOT DR. SHAH!! DO NOT GO...and if you do make sure you or your children never get sick, make sure your flight never gets delayed and make sure you never have any time of emergency...because DR. SHAH needs to make his money and he will charge you $75.00, no matter if you are a good patient or not.....even if he has been an incompetent ineffective chiropractor!!!!!! KEEP LOOKING!!!!

/18/2016 Laura L. We understand your feelings were hurt when our office felt the need to releasing you as a patient as you were not a compliant patient who under minded everything our office staff was trying very hard to do to help you. You started at our office 4 weeks ago and have been in only 6 times and have canceled 2 appointments less then 30 min before your appointment time. In addition, you have been consistently late to almost all of them. You have as you stated "placed heat on your neck" which is and was exactly what the Dr. told you NOT TO do and have left our staff very uncomfortable working with you due to your unprofessional behavior. Our office has compassion and have never looked at payment as first priority. When you first called we squeezed you in as you were in so much pain, we didn't even take your minimal balance at every visit as you said you were having a hard time and we told you to pay it at a later time. In regards to your late fee, we did wave it the first time you canceled the same day and when you called the second time to cancel you said you were tired from your flight. When making that appointment, we clearly asked if you were ok to come in the day you flew back. We even told you we need 24hr cancellation unless it is an emergency. Being tired is not considered an emergency. Even then we waved that fee. You also complain in your statement above about x-rays. Per your thorough exam, the doctor asked you to get x-rays which you had gotten done at the hospital as we don't have x-ray equipment in our office: therefore, we DO NOT make money off that it was asked for you to get done for your healthcare. One more quick note, In regards to your consistent need to say Dr. Shah, he does not and has not been involved with the billing, he released you as a patient as you were not a good fit for this office. Good luck to you in finding a office and doctor that is better suited for you

Dr. Shah apparently hates women, as he will degrade you constantly until you give him some "feedback". I would rate him mediocre to poor in the field of chiropractors, and on top of all that, when your insurance pays him "late" he'll tack on a "late fee." No chance of getting out of that either, they are unreasonable.
