I stayed at the Ace for three nights while attending events at USC and was a very happy guest. The Ace stands out in DTLA as a perch to take in the vibrant scene, from the sturdy and industrial complimenting the art deco fixtures and the beauty of the building itself. Service was always helpful, from the hotel
Staff to Loam to the Bar upstairs. Lots to do within a walk in DTLA and the train is close by. I would definitely return. The attached theater has regular events, all sold out when I stayed, that could be another good reason to book a stay.

This hotel is ideally located and pretty iconic when it comes to downtown Los Angeles hotels. It's next to several theaters and concert venues, and it also has its own plethora of entertainment within the hotel, or just next-door, which make it a destination for quite a few people. If you're looking to party and have a wild night downtown, this hotel is absolutely perfect for you.

For those wanting a normal hotel experience with accommodations, and a decent night's rest, I do not recommend this hotel. Music is literally blasting until the club downstairs closes around 2am. There are very few accommodations built-in, including no bellman, no help with your luggage, they do not offer valet or parking or even have a deal with a nearby parking lot, which I find insane in Los Angeles as everyone has a car or rents when they come to visit.

The rooms are perfectly fine: the beds are mostly comfortable (a bit on the harder side), shower/tub/bathroom is nice, great bath products - but I truly don't feel it's worth the price that we paid. The offerings are quite basic for the amount of money per room. 4/10, do not recommend. Definitely don't try to stay there with young children lol.

The building and aesthetic of the hotel is really cool at first glance. The staff is very friendly and willing to help with any questions. Once you arrive in the rooms they look cool and industrial but the more you inspect them you realize how impractical they are. There are no chairs/surfaces to put your clothes or suitcases just a very small closet with a few hangers. The room itself is very dark. The only lights to light up the room are the ones on the desk and by the sink. The bathroom has nowhere to put clean clothes or hang towels and the shower curtain is horrendous. The curtain is a piece of nylon fabric that hangs with two holes on the ends. When you shower the curtain gets very wet and sticks to you and is a very unpleasant feeling while trying to clean yourself. It's a sensory nightmare. There is also no place to put shampoo or face cloth in the shower as well.

Now for the most frustrating part, the bed. If you want to call it that. The bed is literally a futon on top of wood slats. It is EXTREMELY uncomfortable. It is also literally 2 inches off of the ground. My fiancé and I stayed at this place 5 nights and it had a terrible effect on our backs and we both checked out with awful sciatic nerve pain. If I was able to leave and check into another place with a better bed I would have. Both do us are wrecked from that bed. If you stay here and are here for one night it might not be so bad, but anymore than that pack an aspirin/heating pack/massage gun because you are in for a ride. Also the air inside the room was very humid and clammy.

The restaurant/coffee shop was delicious and had some of the best coffee I have ever had.

I really really wanted to give this place a higher score because I have been wanting to stay at an Ace Hotel for a very long time, but it was a huge disappointment. The bed situation is really what tanked it for me. Ace needs to invest in actual beds and mattresses and not just futons. It's really upsetting when you expect to have an actual bed with a mattress

Choosing where to stay in Los Angeles can be a challenge, mainly because I find the city to be too spread out to have a single city center where you're "in it". It's more neighborhood-centric, with many of them having their own hot spots. When I visited LA three years ago I stayed in North Hollywood, but I really wanted to stay downtown this time - so I looked at hotels in the area and eventually found Ace. I had initially planned to stay here when planning to come to LA in 2020, so it made things easier just to rebook.

Ace is kind of a boutique hotel, but it's also a brand - there are a few Aces around the world, two of them are actually close to me in NYC. From what I can gather, Ace brands itself almost as a party hotel - or at least one that caters to the younger crowd. I say this due to the rooftop bar/event space they have and the musical guests that they periodically host.

The building itself is large, there are 12 floors of rooms, plus a rooftop area with a bar, pool, and lounge area. The ground floor has a small front desk area, a walk-up to purchase beverages and snacks, and an onsite restaurant. They did a great job with the aesthetics - the hotel itself is housed in the old United Artists building, so it has an urban vibe and effectively marries the modern aesthetics with the history of the building. Being in downtown LA, you're within walking distance to most of the hot spots in the area - no need to take the car out. Speaking of cars, the hotel offers valet for $50 a day, which is a nice feature since parking can be challenging in this area.

Rooms were pretty spacious - we had a decent-sized room with a lot of different light sources, double sinks, a safe, iron, blowdryer, robes, and a really good shower. We also had extras I wasn't expecting, like a mini bar and a record player with a few records (I believe you can browse other records in the lobby). I was also pleasantly surprised to see complimentary water bottles set up throughout the room, apart from the minibar. There is definitely a minimalist/urban/industrial feel to the room (the ceiling is exposed concrete) - but it works with the whole vibe of the hotel. Room service is available per request.

Everyone we encountered in the hotel was super nice, and overall I had a pleasant stay at Ace. This was my first time staying with this brand, and they definitely encouraged me to explore their other hotels. If you're looking to stay in DTLA, Ace is definitely a hotel to consider.

In the vast tapestry of Los Angeles' hotel landscape, my recent encounter at Ace Hotel was a story worth sharing, but for reasons I'd never wish to revisit.

The tale begins with my initial room assignment. Here, I found myself caught in a comedy of errors, with the neighboring door providing an ongoing soundtrack of door slams that could rival the most animated sitcom. It wasn't neighbor's fault -- it was the fact that Ace Hotel had inexplicably chosen to install doors that slam loudly. Thankfully, Frankie, a gracious member of the Ace Hotel team, arranged a change of scenery to a different room. The move, however, seemed like an episode out of a sitcom, demanding the unexpected task of relocating my belongings, an inconvenience that felt anything but luxurious.

My new room showcased a curious absence of the basics. Tissue and toilet paper, along with the bathroom's glass tumblers, had apparently embarked on their own escapade, leaving my room bereft of these essentials. I found solace in Gary's assurance that these missing elements would not make an appearance on my final bill.

In a culinary interlude, a pastry and coffee order the next morning took an unexpected twist. The request for a heated pastry had been made, but when it arrived, it was found to be served cold - not even a hint of warmth. What should have been a straightforward request turned into a waiting game. An unheated pastry meant a return trip downstairs to request a proper warm-up, resulting in more minutes lost.

My early-morning call to the front desk was met with radio silence, perhaps an ode to the silent film era.

The manager of the establishment staged an unexpected twist when they requested that I personally address my concerns with the housekeeping staff, as if I had suddenly become the hotel's quality control consultant.

My observations lead me to believe that the staff, while genuinely well-intentioned, seem to lack the know-how in running a hotel seamlessly. The missteps and minor blunders paint a picture akin to a sitcom - a real-life "DisgrACE Hotel," as it were.

To sum it up, my stay at Ace Hotel was a series of mishaps, each adding to a collection of unfortunate incidents that culminated in a memorable experience, but for all the wrong reasons. The workers are commendable, but the hotel's operations could use some fine-tuning to make it a more pleasant destination. A stay here was like stumbling into an ongoing episode of a comedy show, and not necessarily in the most delightful way.

I had an awesome time checking out Love and Rockets and Vinsantos at the Ace Hotel! The venue was stunning and felt like a museum, which made it the perfect spot for snapping some cool pics. Plus, the theater itself was gorgeous and super well-organized with a bar and restroom on each floor, so no long lines to worry about. Overall, it was an amazing experience!

Visiting LA for movie premiere and this hotel was specifically selected for lodging for attendees. Thankfully the driver knew where he was going. The entrance isn't well lit or with signage.

Front desk is small and quaint; attendant explained everything in great detail. Didn't realize it until later, but the shelving behind the attendants are stocked with albums! Each guest room has a turntable!

Room is spacious and decorated in industrial style-exposed pipe, ceiling and concrete walls. Platform bed wouldn't have been good for anyone with mobility or back problems. Television was on the wall directly at foot of the bed. Very limited TV stations.

The one complaint- my rooms' bathroom was totally exposed to the bed area. Only the toilet had privacy. The bathtub/shower and sink were on full display to the bed.

My daughter had a Suite which had table and chairs, large free standing tub, separate and private bathroom and large dressing area with closet. Her room also had an acoustic guitar in addition to the turntable featured in my King room.

I attempted to order room service. That process was confusing. I called room service twice; got disconnected both times. Called the front desk and was told room service was through an app. Housekeeping had yo bring the ordering info to my room. I never did to order anything. There wasn't an option to order and charge directly to my room

Coming for a premiere and getting information is incredibly difficult about the accommodations or accessibility etc. Employees are very nice but front desk is unavailable and I'm not able to wait a few days to get an email for an event this evening to find out whether or not I could bring a service animal.

¿Where to start? When I arrived and checked in. As I regularly do, I check linens, mattresses, headboards, couches, and chairs for bed bugs. As soon as I turned over the black back/headrest on the bed I noticed a dead bed bug or bed bug shed. Those creatures molt. Shocked, I took a picture and went downstairs to show the staff at the front desk. Which seemed uninterested. After discussing the situation with a lady at the front desk I told her I was going to go back upstairs to get my bag, which I did not place near or on the bed. While I waited for the elevator, a couple who was just checking in told me they overheard my discussion with the lady at the desk and yes I confirmed with them my findings. I advised them to check their linens. When I returned to the front desk I was met by what seemed like a manager, Cameron Lowe. He then proceeded to ask me to step outside. Which I found to be very disrespectful and rude. As if I had done some wrong. Cameron was very condescending. That is no way to treat a guest. He then proceeded to discuss options which seemed more like ultimatums . He told me that they were going to get a crew to come investigate the room to see if there was a problem. Now, uneasy being in the hotel. Cameron tried to blame the guests that had checked out prior to me checking in to that room. Cameron said if and after the investigation, if the check came back negative there would be no compensation. He then proceeded by telling me he can give me a full refund and I can go elsewhere or they can get me another room. I expressed my concern over finding the bugs in the other room. He told me that if I left the hotel that they would not pay for my stay at a different hotel. At no point did I imply that. Again I felt attacked and not considered. Horrible service! The sheer disregard. I had an event to attend at 6:00 so I felt rushed to make a decision. ¿Where was I going to find a hotel quickly and make my event?
...So, feeling pressured I opted to stay in a different room, away from that floor and room area. My thought behind that decision was I can get transferred and still make my event. Although, the whole transfer from one room to the other took about two hours. I waited in the lobby for that amount of time, with no offers of water, a drink...no consideration. Complete silence from the staff. Because of the inconvenience and lack of consideration from the hotel and Cameron I missed my event. I would have preferred to have left the hotel. Although filled with uncertainty I reluctantly stayed. My whole stay was uncomfortable. No complimentary incentives were considered. Near the time of check-out, I was met by Cameron, who told me that the test came back negative and there would not be any compensation. Again Cameron's approach seemed to imply that was all I was interested in. I know two professional exterminators and they both tell me a proper test trap takes at least three days to conduct. He then proceeded to complain that I had shown the picture of the bed bug to other guests. He was more concerned over the hotel's reputation than the comfort and well being of the guests . ACE hotel is only interested in money not their guest's welfare. Customers have a right to know. I have my freedom of speech. I should not be aggressively approached and confronted in such a way. I was more concerned over other guest's well being than anyone in that hotel. Nobody wants bed bugs. Although the treatment I received was terrible and insensitive. Again I felt assumptions were being thrown at me. Yes, I think over all the inconvenience that occurred over me finding a bed bug in the hotel, some sort of compensation needs to happen. Although not even a mere complimentary drink was ever offered. Self interest is not a good look for such an establishment. I contacted the health department. I am confident their tests will be more thorough and I will follow up with them. Also, I found dishes from room service the day I arrived and two days later when I left the dirty dishes were still there. I usually travel with my own wash cloth although when I got the new room there were several stuff missing, like wash cloths, tissues, drink ware and other accessories. The shower was the worst, no ability to adjust the warmth of the water. Either semi hot, where the water was just barely dripping or dispense water normally although with scalding hot water.

      The bed bug I found.
The dirty dishes which sat in the elevator waiting lobby the whole three days I was there.
