I have been coming here for years. They never miss a beat. They keep the fresh coffee coming and the scrambled eggs are perfect and fluffy.
The Mimosas are excellent btw.
I love the Smoky smell of Barbeque in the air as you walk in but it's not a smoke filled place.
The host was super friendly.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Shawn L.Birmingham, AL0311Nov 24, 2023
Stepped into Demetri's BBQ and embarked on a flavor-packed adventure! Opted for the brisket plate featuring a symphony of mouthwatering sides--cornbread, turnip greens, and mac & cheese. The onion rings, drizzled with a specialty spicy & sweet sauce, delivered a satisfying crunch. The wood fire grilled salmon, crowned with a relish, took taste buds to new heights. Complemented by turnip greens, baked beans, and more of that delicious cornbread. Soft and not a hint of dryness.
And let's talk about that specialty hot sauce on the table--a spicy companion that enhanced every bite. While Demetri's is famed for breakfast, our lunch experience is not to be underestimated. A haven for barbecue enthusiasts and a testament to the culinary prowess that extends beyond the morning menu.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Mar 24, 2024
For the price of my meal ($23 for pancakes, bacon, potatoes and a mimosa) it wasn't worth it. My pancakes tasted like flour and the bacon was burnt. The best part of my meal was definitely the potatoes. Service is nonexistent after you order and get your food. I probably won't be back.

A Homewood classic! My wife & I swung by Demetri's BBQ to pickup our Saturday football eats. Demetri's BBQ started as El Rancho BBQ in 1961 one block away from where they're located today. In 1973, they moved to their current location & became Demetri's BBQ.
I had the Brisket Plate with sides of turnip greens & mashed potatoes with gravy. I really enjoyed the tender, smoky brisket. It came with bbq sauce on the side. The sauce was good, but a bit too robust, tomatoey & sweet for my taste. I prefer a more thin, vinegary bbq sauce. Luckily, the brisket didn't need sauce to enhance it. A sign of brisket done just right. The mashed potatoes with gravy & turnip greens were great. I don't believe anything came from a can.
My wife had the Veggie Plate with fried okra, baked beans & slaw. The fried okra came with a side of homemade ranch dressing that she said was the best part. The slaw was oil & vinegar based rather than mayo. I prefer a mayo base, but enjoyed the bite of slaw I tried. The baked beans were delicious with bits of pulled pork mixed in.
We also tried the BBQ Wings. Really nice quality, meaty wings. They weren't super saucy, which I liked, more smoky. I think these were my fav part of the meal.
It had been yeeeears since I last dined at Demetri's. I'm really glad we revisited. We didn't dine in this time, but the lady who handled our to go order was very friendly. They have a drive thru which makes picking up to go orders super convenient. I remember the atmosphere being very casual & comfortable last time I did dine in. In addition to traditional bbq fare, Demetri's also serves breakfast daily & brunch all day Sunday. I definitely recommend Demetri's BBQ & totally see why they've been a Homewood favorite for 50 years.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - 3597499Aug 6, 2023
This was my second time eating here and it felt like home. I ordered the wings and ribs plate with side salad and mash tato. The wings came with a sauce that I can only describe as ranch and thousand island mixed together very tangy and good. The ribs were disappointingly very very dry to the point of inedible. The side salad was refreshing and delicious. Their ranch is now on my list of good ranches in Birmingham A++. One of my daughters got the pigsickle (rib) and my other daughter got a pretty good size tasty cheeseburger off the kids menu. My husband ordered the pulled chicken salad. The only thing he found odd was it didn't come with cheese of all things.
All in all, we will be back for the wings as they were comparable to Troups and Slice...fall off the bone tender and awesome smoky flavor and the customer service is as 10/10. We can't wait to go back and try breakfast which is highly recommended I've heard. See ya soon Demetri's !Helpful 2Thanks 1Love this 1Oh no 0 - Greg H.Norman Park, GA046Feb 22, 2024
I came in at 7:20 am for breakfast on a Thursday. The place was slammed but I was able to get a parking spot and a table.
I ordered The barbecue omelet because I'm a barbecue guy and his is a barbecue place when they aren't serving breakfast. The day old barbecue on the omelet was excellent for what it was. I can only imagine what it is like when you eat it the way you are supposed to. The service was great the food was great and the price was reasonable. If life ever puts me back in Homewood for breakfast. I will come again without hesitation.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Jocelyn Q.Birmingham, AL22898361Jan 28, 2024
Just awesome. I am so glad I decided to to go here for breakfast today. I can't believe I've been missing out. I suggest everyone try this place for Sunday brunch. The food was fantastic. Very unique but all of it was so tasty. Everyone at my table enjoyed it. Small restaurant though and due to popularity, you'll probably be waiting in a long line but it's worth it! Service is friendly and kind. Also, try the wings! They're probably in the top three best wings I've ever had!

Came for an early breakfast. They were nice and patient with me as it was my first time there. Would recommend for breakfast. It gets busy later so haven't tried another time of day yet. Also have grab and go meals.
