An Unforgettable Grooming Experience at The Barber Shop by Brass Tacks... Be sure to ask for David.

When you step into The Barber Shop by Brass Tacks at The Adolphus, located in the lobby of the Adolphus Hotel on 1321 Commerce Street, Dallas, TX 75202, you are instantly transported to a classic old school barber shop with an ambiance that exudes style and charm. The convenient location and valet parking only add to the overall experience.

The real gem at The Barber Shop, however, is the incredibly talented David Fletcher. This young barber and stylist is not only an expert in his craft, but he's also an artist par excellence. His congenial personality and fantastic sense of humor make every visit a memorable one.

Whether you're looking for a men's or women's haircut, David listens to your preferences, never overcuts, and takes his time to ensure the final result is exactly what you asked for. His expertise in a variety of styles, paired with the enjoyable conversations, makes every appointment feel like a treat rather than a chore.

The next time you find yourself in Dallas, I highly recommend going out of your way to visit David Fletcher at The Barber Shop by Brass Tacks at The Adolphus, even if you only need a quick trim. The quality of his work and the delightful experience will leave you eagerly anticipating your next visit.

Charming old school Barbershop feel in a great location.
David working his craft with another happy customer.

My wife got me an appointment today for a straight blade shave for our anniversary tonight. We are staying downtown, and after reading Yelp reviews of Brass Tacks in Oak Cliff, she decided this was a good place.

It is located inside the historic Adolphus hotel and is a cool little two-chair shop. I've had several straight blade shaves, but it had been a few years so I was really looking forward to it. It took about 30 minutes and I had really good conversations with the barber who had recently graduated from barber school.

I realized that this was more of a basic shave only, no facial type treatment with it, which generally happen with these type shaves. He did do the hot towel thing and a cool towel afterwards, but no cleaning my face, or moisturizing afterwards.

Once he finished, we shook hands and I walked out to meet my wife. First thing she does is say 'let me touch your face' because she loves a clean shaven smooth face. She was like oh, OK. So I reached up to feel. Well it sucked. He only went one direction, so it wasn't smooth. He also did worse on some areas where you could actually easily see the hair. I am beyond frustrated that we just paid $40 for a shave that I could have done better in 3 minutes with a cheap Bic razor. Don't waste your time or money on a shave here. I got to our hotel and went straight to the bathroom to take a look. I'm so disappointed. I have hair all over my face neck and ears that he didn't clean off, plus the unshaven hair on my face. I'm just in disbelief at what I received, compared to what I expected I would get.

I had a 1030 appointment for a cut with David at the adolphus. I can understand being over 5-10 minutes. And I appreciate not rushing and doing a bad job. But at halfway through the scheduled time, I had to leave. If he started my cut at 1050 and took the full 30 minutes, much less ran over 2x, I would miss my meeting across the street.

I don't think it's inappropriate to expect not to wait over half the appointment time. This is poor time management, and poor communication. I never got more than a finger to wait and a "sorry" shrug when I indicated I had to go.

I don't believe I'll be back. This is a shame, because I've had good haircuts here before.

I scheduled and received confirmation for a 3:30pm appointment. Due to this location being at a hotel and has valet only, I was caught in a back up on the street just 3 minutes away putting me 2 minutes over my appointment time so my wife called to let them know I was running a few minutes late and had to drop my car off at valet and the person on the phone proceeded to tell them they gave my appointment away to somebody else even though I received confirmation and then I no longer had an appointment but was now sitting in front of the hotel. I really liked this place but I'll never get a haircut here again

My brother recommended this barbershop and told me to schedule a cut with Dallas. He did a fantastic job! And used a straight razor and shaving cream to clean my neck, which is awesome. I will return when I am back in town.
My only small criticism is that there is no sink to wash my hair but it didn't make a difference.

I got my boyfriend a gift card to get a hair cut at brass tacks because he enjoyed going to the one in Oak Cliff just to find AFTER he got the hair cut they don't take Brass Tacks gift cards.

It seems nice but that is pretty horrible customer service especially since the fact that they don't take gift cards at this location isn't listed anywhere on the website. Honestly a waste, much better to go to one of the other locations.

Two stars because it seemed like a nice place but could have better customer service. There are plenty of nice barbershops in the area.

I'm not one to post reviews but this place - and David in particular- deserve mention. I was in Dallas for the weekend and had a very important event last night. I was too busy to get a haircut at home in LA and was pleasantly surprised to see this old school barbershop in my hotel. Now I am super picky about who cuts my hair, but it was either go-with-the-fro or take a chance. So glad I did. Showed David a few pics of recent haircuts and he said "I got it." Yes he did. Great cut, great conversation, very cool place. If I lived in Dallas, this would be my spot. So go see David and tell him Orin sent you!
