This is a great gym to get your fitness workout done. The gym is always kept clean which you'll always see an employee cleaning.
The gym equipment is very easy to used and they do have trainers to help and guide you on how to do the exercise correctly. They do have a outdoor pool to used which they have a big bubble to cover the pool during the cold season.
The gym offers fitness classes throughout the day. My personal time to come here is during the afternoon which be less crowded compared to the morning.
The staff are always welcome and friendly every time I'm here.Helpful 7Thanks 3Love this 4Oh no 0Nov 22, 2021Previous reviewTrussville YMCA is the place to start your fitness journey and it's never too late to begin improving your health.
During the beginning of COVID, they used to take your temperature and mask was mandatory, but now they ease up on the restriction and wearing a mask is optional.
Depending on the time of day you choose to go can determine if it'll be busy or not. The exercise equipment are decent, but wish they can swap them out for newer ones since some of them been there for years.
There's plenty of disinfectant sprays and wipes to wipe down the equipment before and after you used them. They don't have complimentary towels for you to use anymore so make sure you bring one from home.
The staff members are always polite and engaging.Oct 29, 2018Previous reviewI don't usually come to this YMCA, but since I work around the area, it just convenient to come here right after work to get my game on. I can't really compare it to any other YMCA except one, but this one is much bigger than the previous one I used to go to. I like there's towels to have during your workout and you'll just have to drop them off in one of the many buckets scattered around the facility when you're finish. The cardio room is normally good if you can find one that's not occupied, but for me, it'll help if the cardio room can be spread out some just because I don't like working out beside people. What I liked about this Y is that even during cold months, you can still swim in the pool since they'll have a large bubble surrounding the whole pool. They have exercise classes and a daycare for the young ones while you're working out and there's also coffee if anyone needs that extra boost. I can say some of the equipment in the weight room feels out dated and either need repair or replacement. The only reason for the 3 star is I wasn't really acknowledge by the older lady working behind the counter when walking in. Places like these drive on customers service and I felt like she wasn't engaging enough.
Jan 9, 2016Previous reviewThis YMCA has everything you need to reach your health goal. Much bigger facility and lots of gym equipments than some YMCA. Cardio room is widespread with six mounted flat screen. Upstairs track for jogging or walking. Interaction between staff members is a positive experience and motivate me into pushing myself everyday in the gym.

I love being a member of this YMCA. The pool is available year round - that dome they put over it in the winter was a lifesaver for me when I was pregnant and swimming was about all I could handle to stay active!
They offer childcare while you workout, which my child enjoys and is always excited to go to. The facility is clean and well maintained. The staff is friendly. The Wednesday night Zumba class is a highlight of my week and I've been going to it for maybe a year and a half now. An overall wonderful place to exercise. I'd recommend it to anyone in the area looking for a gym.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Erika G.Maylene, Maylene, AL447107Dec 18, 2019
Visited for my first spinning class. Stephanie was an AMAZING instructor! No pressure but challenging. Facilities very chill and calm. Easy in and out. Now I'm exhausted.

Very nice building and staff. We had a 13th bday party there after it was over the staff told is us to not worry about cleaning up they would do it for us. Very good experience.

I live in the center of the northernmost metropolis/capital city in Northernmost Europe (First person to guess where wins a sticker!). There is nothing reasonably priced and it is where smiles go to die. Gyms are overpriced and don't like children.
The Trussville YMCA is the exact opposite. This is the most pleasant place I've ever been. It's happier than Disneyland, but almost as big, and you don't have to drag your kids from one ride to the next because there is top-notch, world-class child care in the building. More on that later.
They boast several pools (one covered in the Winter months), racquetball, tennis courts, basketball courts, giant cardio hall full of so many machines there are a few I don't even recognize, two massive weight rooms (one for the motivated and one for the addicts), a suspended track for walking/running, teen programs, yoga, pilates, zumba, water aerobics, TRX, boot camp, preschool, elder programs, child care, steam rooms, whirlpools, great locker rooms, and a partridge in a pear tree.
Classes - I'm a 7-days-a-week pilates, yoga, zumba girl. The instructors are some of the best and I've done a lot of Pilates and yoga all over the world. They get you in and out in an hour but maintain integrity and step it up from generic "gym yoga" or "gym Pilates". No one is calling it in here. I was terrified of Zumba until I was pelted with encouragement by instructors, administrators, and nice strangers alike. Did I mention the people are really, really nice here? Yvonne (Pilates and yoga), Rene (Pilates and yoga), Vivian (yoga), and Rhonda (Zumba!) are my favorites. I will go twice a day just to see them all.
Now the most important part. And listen close parents, skeptics and weary alike: You can not put a price on the loving, caring, teaching wonderland that is the child care at the Trussville Y. You just can't. I would pay top dollar for the care my one year old receives. He's not used to being left with strangers. But he shrieks with joy when we arrive here and fusses when we leave. The women who run this little slice of immaculately clean heaven are no less than angels who handle all of the children with more love and care than you'll find in Granny's pecan pie. I've seen child care in plenty of places, and this is better than private day care. They are like unicorns: much sought after but mythical. Except these people actually exist. There are also really good toys and supplies for the kids.
All of this for an insanely low cost. As a visitor for several months at a time, I can highly endorse the Y as being a real hub of community and wellness. My favorite place to be when I'm in Birmingham!Helpful 4Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Charles P.Birmingham, AL04Jun 26, 2016
Great place to workout,Steam Room & Whirlpool Pool also. Staff and management are friendly and professional. Maintenance and Cleaning persons are on the ball keeping place clean. Huge parking lot which is twice the size of the other YMCAs here. Well worth the membership price.
