Easy 5. I stopped for lunch while at a training for work near IUP. The place is traditional, old-school, classic, or whatever other adjective you want to use. Everyone working was really nice and friendly.
I was in from 1130-12:00 on a Tuesday and the line never died down. Good indicator of a good place.
I had a cheese steak. It was busting off the bread with steak, cheese, and veggies. I'm in!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Mar 21, 2024
I LOVE 9th street deli. I started coming here in college almost 10 years ago. Since then, I've made regular trips back and always stop here. Everything I've had from the chicken parm hoagie to the Italian hoagie is amazing. My favorite is the streak and cheese hoagie with everything on it.
I will say since the new owners took over, the sandwiches slightly different. They are a bit more greasy and aren't constructed as well(when you take a bite, it's all veggie, or it's all bread).
The cashier, Diane, is the sweetest woman and part of the reason to keep going back. She is cheerful and friendly no matter how packed and rushed it might be there.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - 253706764Jun 10, 2023
Stopped across the street for the Jimmy Stewart museum but knew I'd be stopping in at 9th Street Deli afterwards since business seemed to be humming and a sandwich sounded good. Ordering at first was a little confusing since you order at one counter but then get chips/drinks and pay at the other, but I was quickly straightened out.
There's 3-4 tables in the restaurant and then 2-3 on the outside. Our family opted to eat inside which was fun as it gave us an opportunity to look around at all the college pennants that were hung on the wall. Our schools weren't represented (Boise State and BYU), but I did see an Idaho State University one which was cool!
Service was pretty quick and our sandwich was a great size to share and had plenty of toppings as well as oil and vinegar.
Prices were pretty reasonable and I could see us definitely stopping in again when in Indiana, PA!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Aug 24, 2023
Had a work matter to attend to in Indiana, PA. The Jimmy Stewart museum had been on our bucket list for quite some time (which was fantastic by the way) and we were hungry after our visit. 9th Street Deli seemed to be a popular spot, with several people going in and out. We got a couple of sandwiches to share--a spicy italian and the other one is slipping my mind--but both were huge and quite good! Service was fast and though there was limited seating both inside and out for how many people were there that day, we managed to find a table and did not feel too rushed. In other words, the people came and went quickly so there were always enough tables, though they are few. Enjoyed looking at all the college banners as well while we ate! Our schools weren't represented, but should we come back some day, maybe we will bring a little flag along! haha!

Was very disappointed family ordered various items - ordered soup and sandwich for lunch dining in they asked if I wanted the soup hot. The steak hoagies buns were completely soggy. The chili tastes like tomato soup with kidney beans absolutely terrible.

The phillly cheesesteak is authentic and delicious. Their other hoagies are awesome as welll. I've never found anything I don't like here. The cold salads to go with the hoagies are all good, especially the macaroni salad. The soups are great. Prices are not bad either. We had 2 12" philly cheesesteaks for less than $30. A staple in the Indiana community and a great place to bring visitors to our area.

9th street has gone down hill hardcore in the past two years. I just ordered hot pepper cheese balls and a steak and cheese hoagie. The pepper balls had to finish cooking in my oven, and the hoagie wasn't toasted and complete soggy mess. They used to be that place in town, I wanted to give them another shot but honestly brunzies or jimmy John's has much better hoagies.

The cheese steak was phenomenal. Pricing was good. I also got a side of pasta salad, it was okay. There was a bit much oil in it for my liking. Will definitely be coming back here again.

YUM! 9th street has been a family favorite since I was a kid. My mom always loved the roast beef subs. We ordered at least once a week. The bread taste great!
Now that I'm older, my husband and I treat our family to the steak subs!!!! Great with everything on it!
Its always busy here! College kids seem to frequent here, which is great for business!
Staff, although they always look overwhelmed, they have always been friendly. Always appreciate that.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Jamee B.Stoystown, PA474321Jan 6, 2023
The sandwiches are quite good. It's a very busy place, but the staff is friendly and efficient. There's not a lot of room to sit, but it was still easy to find a table. It's pretty much what you'd expect of a deli.
