I've visited this convenient store over the course of the year since I've decided to help take care of my grandmother. When I go for my morning or evening walks, I often take detours to visit this store. It was a ritual that I've religiously exercised, day in and day out. I've shelled out hundreds of dollars on chips, sandwiches, cookies, peanuts, hot dogs, sandwiches, drinks, etc (anyone acquainted with the practice of shopping at a convenient store knows about its temptations that lurks in every aisle).
So, why one star?
Two days ago, I had a $100 bill that I wanted to exchange for $20s (and I wanted some wasabi peanuts, too, because yum). It was finally my turn to get my nuts checked out. I approached the counter and asked if they had change for a $100 (to which they said 'no'), but what happened afterwards astonished me. One of the lady employees bombarded me with shoplifting accusations, claiming that I stole something a week ago or so (I assumed she was talking about the night where I had my Stephen King's On Writing book with me, and that it could have been the shoplifted item [it was the only time where she approached and spoke to me, before the incident of course).
She put me on trial while other people were in line, waiting behind me. In lieu of talking to me about it privately, she jumped to conclusions and opted to ignominiously persecute me on ill-founded grounds. She also had this condescending smugness about her that I didn't fancy.
Bottom line: forget the fact that I've spent hundreds of dollars here; let's jeopardize my relationship with the only convenient store around for miles just to save a few bucks! Great idea, right? Renegade for life!
P.S: There's some sort of fallacy-prone mentality that's fostered here among the workers. Someone I know was accused of stealing candy bars he was contemplating on purchasing 2 years ago. What happened was that he picked up the candy bars and he placed them on a different rack (an act not idiosyncratic to him, since everyone I've asked about this can attest to doing the same), but the employee will have none of that: it doesn't agree with his preconceptions on what people with hoodies & backpacks are like.
Addendum: I won't be shopping here again. If you decide to shop here however, don't be alarmed if they question you for tying your shoelaces. With their logic, they might demand to inspect the inside of your shoes for stolen cookies, too.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Peter P.Hagerstown, MD610May 27, 2008First to Review
I went to this 7-11 location to buy two things: Philly Blunts and Orange Juice. I did not want a $5 scratch off card. I did not want any Horny goat weed (though I am curious about what a horny goat might do). I got
the Philly Blunts (peach flavor at that) however, the Orange juice was
not to be had. Yes, they did have Orange juice, but only the made from
concentrate kind. I want the 100% tropicana Orange juice, with pulp please. Not to be found. I settled for one of those Arizona Ice Teas with
Ginseng. I approached the counter and Horny goat weed caught my eye
again, but who wants to pay 5$ for Horny goat weed. I scanned around me and no one was looking, so I put the Horny goat weed in my pocket. I always judge a 7-11 by how easy it is to stick something in my pocket, and this place was very easy. If only they would have had my orange juice this 7-11 would have got five stars.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 8Oh no 0 - Lea B.Kensington, MD72544Jan 22, 2016
We needed to stock up for the blizzard and the flat breads would not ring up. The cashier said no ring, no sale. And left the frozen items sitting on the counter. Why do they have items in their freezer that they cannot sell? And why was this man not capable of him putting in a price and selling it? At the beginning of our trip we had asked him to cook a pizza, but when we got to the register he had not started it so didn't charge us for it. They are clearly not concerned about sales, nor customers.
