This place was quiet a surprise. I had the Chix 33 which was amazing! I decided on it because it was grilled chicken and I was looking for a low fat healthy meal. This was NOT that but oh so good!!! There was so much butter on the plate!! Just don't order this "grilled chicken" dish if you're watching what you eat!
Service was good but it was packed! When we left there was a line. My husband had the crab cake sandwich and said it was good. Which says a lot as he is a crab cake snob! Good choice of beers as well!!
All in all we really enjoyed it!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Nov 30, 2019Updated review
don't stop..just go and get the 33 west burger on Saturday for $5.00...2 reasons I'm loving 33 West , the burger and April, who is so sweet and helpful. I suppose it's the toasted butter roll and the angus beef , seasoned just right that makes this burger Phenomenal!!! you also get a side choice with burger coleslaw, fries, or pasta salad. I just saw that 33 west is #8 on " 10 burger joints in Delaware that will make your taste buds explode" ..Beer specials change every Saturday ... I had a New Belgian something or other..$5.00...This cheeseburger will leave you wanting more.
Military discount of 10%..just not on the weekends.Helpful 6Thanks 0Love this 6Oh no 0Sep 29, 2019Previous reviewI'm so glad I gave 33 West another go. I waited a year before coming back. I had lunch today and ordered the 33 west burger with coleslaw and it was incredible. This cheese burger was juicy and a perfect medium. Service was so existent such a difference from last year. We ate at the bar as opposed to a table like last year. I had the Yards beer on tap which didn't disappoint. Yards Brewing Company is from Philly. Your beer menu seems to have improved. Saturday was 1/2 price Burgers so $5.00 for 33 West burger and the Yards beer on draft was $3.00 bringing my lunch to $8.00!!! What a great lunch. Thank you.
Sep 30, 2018Previous reviewWanting to hear live music we went to 33 west for drinks and appetizers and live music of "Rachel and Chris ". Rachel and Chris were awesome and the best part of our evening out. That is where the 3 stars are coming from. There seems to be a big help problem in this restaurant. I waited over 20 minutes to order my beer. The Facebook page says they need server and hostess help. I'd say so.....LOL
I'm the biggest craft beer fan and we had difficulty finding beers to drink here. Examples: S'mores brown ale with marshmallow, cinnamon, chocolate and Dunkelweizen a banana, clove bready malt. A bunch of citrus IPAs with orange juice and grapefruit. REALLY? I wound up ordering a dogfish IPA 60 in a bottle. My friend had a bad tasting Sierra Nevada Oktoberfest . A better rotating beer selection would be helpful.
Happy dance when I saw "Poutine" on the menu, however, this wasn't a really good poutine. Come on Poutine is a CANADIAN CLASSIC. This was not a sinful dish. The gravy tasted canned or perhaps it was a demi-glaze packet but not homemade gravy. The gravy should not overpower the fries and cheese curds. Your gravy overwhelmed the other ingredients. If you have ever been to Canada (even McDonalds serves Poutine) this is the signature dish. This is a three ingredient dish. Fries, brown gravy, and cheese curds. The short ribs were tender. But the ingredients are not melding together.
The "starter menu" states per my boyfriend "Jumbo wings" I'm including a picture LOL these were the smallest wings ever. Perhaps rename the wings "Mini wings" or "tiny wings" the wings were dropped in the commercial fryer to long and tasted that way. The sauces we ordered" Thai and Korean barbeque" did not taste homemade the flavor of straight from the bottle in a plastic ramakin.
When our food came to the table we had no silverware, napkins, or plates.
Not sure I want to hurry back to have a meal at 33 west . - Apr 4, 2019
Thanks Yelp! Was at my son's freshman orientation for Delstate (Go Hornets) in Dover most of the day, and checked for a place to eat before heading back north. This place was banging. We only did appetizers, and they were all delicious.
I started with the fried Brussels. They were sweet. They were spicy. They were crisp on the ousting. Honestly, the best I've had. My son had the crab Mac and cheese, and he's already told me he'll be eating here instead of the dining hall (not on my dime...lol). He said it was the cheesiest, and full of meat. Don't let the pic fool you. That was easily enough for 2 or 3. The other items we had, were well prepared and presented too.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Grace G.Roseville, CA694621368Nov 15, 2019
Sooooo....new to Delaware. Yelped this place. Was close. Had a decent amount of Stars and reviews....why not?
When we entered the restaurant, we were pleasantly greeted. The young lady that helped us to our seat was very personable and very kind. However, once we were seated, we did sit there for about 20-25 mins with no waitress / waiter, water, nothing.....
We were seated at a table, after waiting for so long with no one caring that we were there, we got up and moved closer to the bar. Thinking we would at least get noticed and be offered some water at least. Yes; eventually, a waitress did come over. Right when I had found another restaurant on Yelp to go to. So, I dunno if this is a normal thing. If the service normally sucks like this. It definitely did tonight. And to me, it didn't seem ridiculous busy. I mean, at least some water would have been nice while we waited 30 mins without any acknowledgement.
Again, once we were recognized as existing, our server was very kind and very helpful with the menu. Our order was taken, and it did take weirdly long for our waters to come out.
Ok, so service is slow here. But when our food did come out, it was hot. Presentation was nice. Food was just ok. Drinks were ok too. This is a dive bar spot. Food was definitely unmemorable. And I'm guessing the owner knows that, which is why this restaurant is unclaimed on Yelp. Lol. Even the waitress said, the owners keeps taking things off the menu that people like. Lol. Wtf?! Looking at the pics of food on Yelp, we tried to order, but they were unavailable.
Ok. So food is ok. But pricing is affordable. I'm
From Cali. And NO TAX?!!! Definitely a plus. Lol. Almost made the food worth it. And they did have some live music, and he was GOOD. Again, service was nice ONCE they realized you were alive. Lol.
Ok, I'm just talking sh*t at this point. If I'm drunk and have no where else to go, I would definitely come back here. If I'm sober and conscious of my
Decisions, I would absolutely go somewhere else. This place needs to get it together. Clean establishment. Parking nearby. Pricing definitely reflects the value you get here.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Harry B.Seaford, DE228234621Feb 23, 2019
Not familiar with many places in the night scene, this was honestly my first time for a reason to be in Dover on a weekend starter and we were going to see Tyler Greene. Planning and plotting some great acts for Battle of the Bands 2019, Tyler Greene was a great act. Arriving at 33 West, I loved the location on the corner, the windows that look on a lit up Loockerman Street, the whole scene was inviting. Inside, the wood floors, the décor and just the right amount of people in the right places, it felt right.
Sitting towards the back part by the bar, it was interesting to see the wide range of youth, adults, everyone, it was a very good atmosphere. Food is definitely reasonably priced, and just an appetizer was ordered, they have a huge selection of wines, beers, cocktails, and the Quesadillas and carrot cake dessert hit the spot. When you can't get a picture fast enough because it is that good, IT IS THAT GOOD.
What a great location and place to gather with friends and relish what Delaware has to offer - excellent service and speed of being served. Tyler Greene as a very talented singer and musician hitting a range of tone that would include Led Zeppelin and an even wider range of musical choices, he is a HUGE reason to go out and see him and what he is capable of.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Chuck B.Middletown, DE19734Oct 5, 2019
Came here on a Friday night. Had looked up reviews and thought this should be a nice place to come and experience. Our Waitress Katie was good. The food was decent. The portions were fine. My Problem is with the cleanliness of the place!! It was downright Dirty and almost disgusting. The workers did not take pride in the place. Table tops were not cleared in a fashionable time. The floors were dirty and not swept. I watched Patrons like myself come in and had to see table tops not cleared. The hostess had to go clean around tables to make a spot. This is unacceptable for a Tavern or Eatery. To top it off the antics you could hear in the dining room from the kitchen. Cussing and carrying on.

I have been wanting to try this place out for a while now so I finally did. First off I must say that after all the hype I was thoroughly disappointed to find out that they discontinued their star cheeseburger, Porky's Revenge"! So I tried their egg cheeseburger with fig jam instead. It is good but still no Porky's Revenge.
I came back another night, tried the Lobster and Crab Mac n Cheese for the first time. It was extremely pungent but it tasted great! I would definitely eat this again!
The rib burger with blue cheese for me was very bland nothing special. For me, it needs a sweet element to balance the savory, a barbecue reduction.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0Dec 9, 2017Previous reviewI have been wanting to try this place out for a while now so I finally did. I came back another night, tried the Lobster and Crab Mac n Cheese for the first time. It was extremely pungent but it tasted great! Generous portions of Lobster and Crab. For a six foot 220lb man this portion size was enough for a whole meal. I would definitely try this again! - Michael C.Jericho, VT125471Aug 31, 2017
Had lunch here today. Stopped in based on reviews here plus TripAdvisor. The dining area is small and as luck would have it we got to sit next to the loudest lady I hope to never meet again. Aside from that, wow!
I had the Rachel Reuben Burger. My wife had the Korean Turkey Burger. We finished it off with the salted caramel cheese cake. Amazing!
The Burger was a mess, have napkins ready. It is delicious. Highly recommended.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Aug 18, 2017
There are very few restaurants I would consider good restaurants in Dover and this gem is one of them! I have been here previously for lunch and had a delicious turkey burger and fries. When I came back here for dinner with some friends I was excited to try their dinner menu :)
We ordered some seasonal beer and ordered an appetizer (which are half off during happy hour but not seafood). We got the short rib poutine. I liked that each appetizer and entree were huge portions for what you pay for as well. The poutine was absolutely delicious. Fries friend and seasoned very well. The short ribs were tender and juicy. We gobbled them up quickly. We then all got a variety of small plates and appetizers for dinner.
I ordered the mussels and chrizo small plate and the lobster and crab Mac n cheese. Both were very good and were huge portions. My friends got a variety of wings and the beer queso dip. Everyone enjoyed their meals and left happy! Can't wait to return and try more food out !Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0
