I don't really have any complaints about this 24 Hour location. It's big. It's nice. The folks working there are usually friendly (but not always warm). The layout is a bit weird and some of the upstairs sections feel a little cramped, but not a big deal. Plenty of machines. Big pool (which I never use).
Locker room is much larger, cleaner, and nicer than my usual 24 Hour, so that's nice.
The people who work out there are about the same as the other one... maybe a few more Dallas shinies among them... maybe a bit more plastic surgery on display... but meh. Not a big deal to me. I do find this location is usually more crowded than my usual location. (My usual location is at Preston and Warren.) Both locations have their pros and cons, but overall this is a nice gym and gets the job done at a reasonable price.
Oh, and I was grandfathered in as having access to this gym since I had gone before they renovated and it became the next level up, which is usually more expensive. I would not hit this location if it was more expensive than my usual membership level...Helpful 3Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0Business owner information

This is a super sport but 1. They no longer have towel service, 2. They have two machines that are dedicated to personal training clients only, while the other machines(similar to the reserved machines) are much older, 3. Their basketball court is smaller than a regular half court basketball court. This should not be considered a super-sport.

I have been a member of 24 hour fitness for 23 years. My home club in California is a 'Sport' Club. I am in Texas visiting my 90 year old mother. I tried to work out here today and was told it would cost me $25. That's the same price they charge non-members to work out. I am a member just not of a 'Super Sport' club. Another 'Super Sport' club I had went to previously let me have a guest pass. The Indian woman at the front desk seemed put off. Seriously? This is how you treat someone who has been a member for 23 years? So now I am driving to find a 'Sport' club.
Plus, I am a physician and have referred many patients to my local club for their fitness needs. Bad PR.Helpful 7Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Roshann B.San Francisco, CA02May 29, 2019
No more towel service!!!!!!!
I have been a member of 24 Hour Fitness for some time now and have always enjoyed the towel service, but have found out this location has cancelled towel service. To some, this may be trivial and rightfully so, but it is the principle now. Since there is no towel service, will my monthly membership be reduced? Has anyone else inquired about this? I am just looking for answers.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Gilbert G.Dallas, TX44379Mar 14, 2018Updated review

Mar 12, 2018Previous reviewI first complained to this to Amanda one of the 4 store managers . I approached nicely and asked hey can you turn the fans off? The temperature has been 30-40 degrees for two weeks now, I cant break a sweat with 2 giant fans on me, plus I'm freezing because the doors are underneath and I'm sweating. She said no, we don't have control over the fans, and we cant turn them off. She did not look me in the eye and she also didn't apologize. Her nickname should be "Stone Cold Amanda" because she didn't even look in my direction when talking to her. I also sent an e-mail regarding the fans with no response. The management team also thought it was a good idea to put a sign, "Don't touch the fans" Laminate it, and hang it up! This is passive aggressive behavior! It does not make me feel welcome! Charming right? Its very degrading!
Second complaint, there are some Asian men that think its a great idea to blow dry their private parts with the hand dryer. Its very unsanitary, there's kids that have to use the dryer and I never see any of the male staff tell them anything.
Third complaint, when its busy the trainers will put a towel and notebook on multiple chest machines. I know they're working and have priority, but with limited machines it sucks to wait for your staff to finish super sets.
I hope things change at this 24 hour fitness, I compliment the new Sauna! It works great!
Everything else from the staff to sanitary issues is disappointing to me. - Robert P.Plano, TX0283May 14, 2019Updated review
This gym is falling apart fast. About 60% of the cardio machines have some kind of mechanical issue. Maintenance is not a priority here. I expected it to be a little nicer than other 24 hour fitness locations because it is a "super sport," but that's not the case. The ceiling leaks when it rains and the exterior peeling paint and overgrown shrubs are an indication of what you can expect inside.
Update: The towel service has been discontinued. What a dump.Helpful 4Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0Dec 1, 2016Previous reviewThis 24 hour fitness is very well managed. Machines are repaired quickly and everything seems well maintained. The towel service is nice and the attendants in the kid's club are always cheerful. This is the best 24 hour fitness club I have tried so far.

For the price and changes to their offering I would not join the location at this time - possibly wait for the Cowboy Fit to open across the street. This location is supposed to be a super sport, but it is much smaller than the other locations, I have not seen a new piece of equipment in over a year and they have discontinued the towel service. They actually discontinued the service over a month before the date of their emails to members, which was a surprise since it was the one thing that stood out in all of their positive reviews. The focus of this location appears to be personal training, but if you go that route there really are better options nearby in terms of cost, effectiveness and joint preservation. I get that removing the towel service is a cost savings, but with it they really need to downgrade the club level since by comparison the Active location in Carrollton actually has more to offer now.

************* UNSAFE GYM. RAMPANT CAR THEFTS IN THEIR POORLY LIT PARKING LOT ***************************************
I have been to this gym for like 7 years. It is sometimes really creepy in their parking lot at night. The lighting in the parking lot sometimes doesn't even work at all and bushes hide view from street so thieves have their pick at this gym. Check the police reports for Plano PD for theft and you will see that this gym is hit a lot. It is in a good neighborhood but not an adequate amenities gym for the price.
After renovation, they still have a leaky roof, broken machines, water faucets and equipment. The money they charge for "super sport" is not worth it. Go to Lifetime or Golds if 24 hrs access is not an issue.
I hope customers will at least demand better lighting. I hate to say this but I don't think anything will happen till a client is attacked in this parking lot with the poor lighting.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0Aug 10, 2014Previous reviewThis gym cannot be a super sport when you compare to Murphy and Castle Hills. They did the renovations they desperately needed to an old Q gym and turned a space into a basketball court and added more cardio machine. Visit the Golds gym across the street. The place doesn't justify the pumped price.
Even after the renovation, they still have multiple points on the roof where it leaks a lot when it rains outside. It is not what you expect from an Ultra sport.Jul 23, 2014Previous reviewSince this gym has been renovated, it has become a Super Sport (from $25 to $35 to $40/mth membership). They added a mini basketball court, non regulation size and wifi. So essentially you are paying more for a renovated gym that desperately needed the renovation from days when it was a Q gym (circa 1990s). There's more cardio equipment than before. The roof still leaks when it rains and you see buckets all over the gym.
I would not recommend this gym if you are really into pumping iron as the equipment is limited and always occupied. I would recommend it for the number of classes it offers relative to other gyms and if you are into maintenance. I also like it because it is open 24 hrs now, for real, vs before they were not open 24 hrs on weekends.
The staff changes a lot at the gym and for the most part the trainers are good but the current sales man at the gym is a jerk. He is extremely unhelpful and looking to get your sale/money.
Also, unlike before, they charge for child care while you workout now too.Jan 18, 2013Previous reviewI want to say that it is disingenuous when you all remove factual photos of the current state of the gym. The gym is a dump and a lot of the equipment is broken. They said they will do a total remodel March 2013 for 3 months but that is yet to be seen. This gym has no repair person to fix the equipment and the regional manager won't send someone to fix the place in his absence.
This place deserves a class action lawsuit for their lack of providing adequate service for the membership fee. I will repost the true picture of this place again and again until I see the gym fixed.
Customers deserve a right to see the true state of this DUMP.Jan 7, 2013Previous reviewThis place is even a bigger dump. Everything is broken and not being fixed. They said that the gym will be remodeled in March but I have to see it to believe it.
Jun 28, 2010Previous reviewI swore that I would post pictures of this gym the next it rained a good rain and I kept my word. Now I got a Google Nexus phone so I will keep posting pictures and publicizing to the world till they are embarrassed enough or the OSHA cites these people for the unsafe working conditions. Water from the ceiling drips into electric floor sockets. When are they going to fix the roof? This gym is prehistoric and they are not doing anything to ameliorate us. Unfortunately I have the nationwide account and the home gym is this gym.
Sep 24, 2009Previous reviewThe gym is good and the staff are nice. They provide washed towels, unlike some of the other gyms. This particular gym has some major maintenance issues. When it rains, there are wet spots filling up electrical floor outlets and waste baskets everywhere trying to catch water from leaking roofs. I will definitely get pictures of this the next time it rains, it is time to embarrass 24 hr out of inactivity. They want your money and not your considerations.
Some of the trainers here are like used car salesman. They hussle you to get a training packet with them. The master trainers are $50 more then the regular trainers for a package of six. The first training should be free because they just take measurements and give you some tips.
I got my membership at Costco for $300 for a two year term which averages to about $13 a month for all clubs in US except the top one and those are few and far between. If you do not have a chance to get the special, it is $25/mth and $25 initiation fee and I believe they may have raised their fees.
I got my locker broken into at the Coit and Campbell club and I have to say the 24 hr corp office did not help at all. They did not respond to my emails, they did not improve anything to make the club more secure and it seems the staff are not trained or care at all about the patron's security. They have a disclaimer in their locker rooms that they are not liable for any theft. You basically have to carry your personal items with you at all times.
I was gone for approximately 20 mins on the treadmill and the guy broke into my locker with bolt cutters in his bag and I even saw the guy's face but 24 hr doesn't photograph its members on their cards and would not let me see the names of the people that attended the gym an hr before I came or I could have spotted the person out and helped prevent future victims.
This particular gym has had a rash of car break-ins in their parking lot. Do not leave things in the open. Just be mindful that thieves know people go in the gym for a duration and they know they have time to have their way with your stuff.
24 hr has no security and doesn't care about its patrons security. They install fancy flat panel TVs to entice new members and get their money but doesn't do anything to help keep up with the safety demands.
I visited the Gold's Gym across from this gym. You need to visit that spanking new gym before you get a membership at this gym. It is like night and day. Gold's gym is far more modern and new but the price may be a lot higher and not as many gyms nationwide but if you are just going to one gym, try Gold's. This 24hr gym is not 24 hrs open, they close early Friday, Saturday and Sunday. - Sam S.Henderson, NV274518Sep 8, 2017
I called them today to re-join again and the guy named Dough wanted to interrogate me about why am I coming back? what do you want to at the gym?
I told him I wanted to dance and if he was the manager at 24 Fitness or Pizza Hut ... instead of telling me welcome back and how can I help you. I didn't know I was married to them and that once I leave no coming back. WTF???
I've asked him to have a real manager call me. I doubt he would do that.
Extremely disappointed. They need to hire better managers with better customer service!!!Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0Business owner information

Oh 24 hour fitness, I have such a love/hate relationship with you...
On the positive side there is a 24 hour in almost every area I frequent and they are open almost all hours of the day. So in all actuality I have no excuse not to work out. This particular 24 hour is right next door to my office. When first visiting the location there is no differentiator from the outside or the inside that this is a fancier 24 hour in comparison to others. My membership was just for the basic club and sport locations but I was able to visit here a handful of times before they made me sign up. The only thing that I can tell a difference is that they provide towels for you and there are more showers as well as blow dryers in the locker room.
At this location that have 3 areas called "changing rooms" that are kind of like a dressing room at a retailer and you can just change privately without being in a bathroom stall. I really like this feature. I also like how open the women's locker room is and the blow dryers. Unfortunately they never keep the locker room clean. There are many times the bathroom stalls are dirty and out of paper towels. Also the bins to throw your dirty towels in are usually overflowing.
On another positive note I have not once had to wait in line for a machine. All the cardio machines seem newer then other 24 hour gyms and I have only encountered one machine that was broken. I wish there was a better stretching area but at least there is something.
I decided since it was right next to my office it was worth me upgrading my membership but I'm not exactly sure it's worth the extra cost for the extra amenities. Try it out, they will give you 3 days free.Helpful 10Thanks 0Love this 9Oh no 0
