Stopped by for brunch on a friend's recommendation. It's located in a convenient area in Inman Square, and at 11am on a Sunday, a line was forming out the door. Despite this, we were able to order pretty quickly and got our drinks and food within 5 or so minutes after.
The koji breakfast sandwich on sourdough was absolutely delicious. I would definitely recommend it if you're a fan of eggplant and/or sweet umami flavors. I did notice the portion of scrambled egg on my sandwich was less than my friend's bagel portion, so keep that in mind if you like a higher egg to sauce ratio.
The spicy breakfast sandwich (bacon, egg, and cheese with spicy aioli on a bagel) was underwhelming compared to other places that serve something similar. The egg portion was large, but the bagel was hard, the bacon was burnt, and it could have used more sauce.
Overall, this is a decent cafe for getting breakfast/brunch or grabbing a coffee and doing some work (as half the people there were doing). It was nice that they have the option to customize breakfast sandwiches by bagel, sourdough, croissant, or gluten-free bagel. However, the food was hit-or-miss and the furniture was a bit dated (worn out wooden chairs and tables). The place does counter ordering then self-seating, but I wish they at least provided self-serve sanitizing wipes for customers to use on tables between uses.

Although I've never had any coffee here (I've only had the Thai tea here), I got a recommendation to try out their Rwanda beans. Holy cow I can't get enough of these beans. Everytime I'm in Boston I have to make a stop to pick up a bag to brew at home.
Their Thai tea is very good too :)Helpful 1Thanks 1Love this 1Oh no 0 - Sep 12, 2023
Service was so weird here. Seemed like a very cool and chill spot. Students, allies, artists...but the service was just so bizarre. No warm greeting or "hi, how are you" just silence.
We ordered, 2 hot dirty chais (our normal vacation "treat yo self" beverages). And when I say it was not good, I truly mean it. Tasted like they used the chai tea bag method and added steamed milk to create the latte effect.
Normally this would be fine and much preferable to a chai concentrate...but this was just not good. Quality of tea used, unairrated milk, dead espresso shots...I'm not sure which stood out more.
The cafe was super full when we got here mid to late morning. Maybe we just picked the wrong drink and the wrong day.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Marc S.Boston, MA25236Jul 12, 2023
Awesome coffee shop in Inman Square! Great tasting espresso.
Food is good, but dairy-free options are limited and I think the food menu needs some attention. Tip: To get protein without dairy for breakfast, I've been ordering the vegan hummus-cucumber sandwich and asking them to add smoked Turkey, which works.
I would give 5 stars if it was a bit smoother organized and had more seating. Even when I'm the only customer it doesn't feel calm inside, if that makes sense. Usually it is packed and backed up (which is a reflection of how a great the coffee is!), and some thought going into how to make it feel smoother and more calm would get this place to 5 stars for me easily.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Gabi K.Atlanta, GA772410Dec 2, 2023
I've been here before and I don't remember it being spectacular but it was okay. Today I got the rocket like last time and it tasted a bit sweet and like it is mixing flavors with another sandwich and the egg was undercooked. A strange sandwich. The service was not super friendly either. I got the Vietnamese coffee and it was not authentic at all. It's just iced coffee with condensed milk. It was probably the worst one I've ever had.
The place is very crowded and kinda vibey but I don't understand why haha. I guess it's just a local spot.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Sep 9, 2022
I met up at 1369 with one of my coworkers on a Friday afternoon (note: they did close at 3pm, so be sure to check their hours in advance). The ship is located in a great spot, right in Inman Square. They have decent seating and play good, vibey music. Looks like a nice place to work or study for the day.
Their menu was pretty basic, a bunch of coffees and teas, with a few food options. I was in the mood for something savory, but didn't have a huge appetite. None of the food options were really speaking to me. If you're looking for a café with solid food options, I'd go with Tatte instead.
In terms of drinks, the iced chai was great. It had a really rich flavor and was refreshing on a warm day. I'm not a huge coffee fan, but the coffee options seemed pretty decent.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Blair W.Cambridge, MA12610Aug 4, 2023
I've been coming to 1369 somewhat regularly for the last couple of years and I would say that overall, it's a good, reliable coffee shop.
My favorite things about it are:
- the staff are always really kind and service is prompt
- the drinks are pretty good and the prices aren't insane compared to other shops in the area
- the pastries have never disappointed
Things that I wish were better:
- the breakfast sandwich: it is wayyyy too dry and plain... at that point, I'd rather walk to Market Basket to buy the ingredients and make it myself.
- for some reason, 1369 has messed up my sandwich order at least 3 times now? I'll order one sandwich and then they give me a different one.
All that to say, I'd recommend coming here for the drinks and the pastries, and skip the sandwiches.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Jenna K.Medford, MA21267Nov 26, 2023
Stumbled on this cute little cafe during a walk through Cambridge. Great chai latte and soft oatmeal raisin cookies! Staff was friendly and the place was nice and quiet, making it easy to have conversations or read a book.

1369 used to be my go to coffee shop when I lived in the area, and I always had great drinks and pastries. I've noticed over the years that things started seeming like the same level of care wasn't being taken - cream cheese was sour on the bagel, drink orders were often incorrect, nothing big but definitely noticeable. Then yesterday, I was supposed to receive a hot chai and a Vietnamese coffee and the drinks were abysmal. The chai was tasteless and watery and the coffee - in addition to definitively not tasting anything like Vietnamese coffee - was sour and undrinkable. It's sad to say but I won't be back, despite having enjoyed this place for years. Small mistakes or issues are normal, but when you are a coffee shop, serving drinkable coffee should be a given.
