Awesome wings! I got the phantom pepper wings which were very good, Very crispy on the outside, but still juicy and tender on the inside. They use a black pepper-based rub they call Phantom pepper and it is very very good. The barbecue rings were also good not great, but pretty good. Also had a few of the sides, including the pickled ginger and cherry tomatoes salad. Talk about waking up your mouth! All in all, a very good local restaurant.

Best chicken wings I've ever had! Crispy on the outside with a ton of flavor and spice! Ordered the salmon salad which had fresh salmon. Top it off with some cold beer on draft and you are in for a treat. Also ordered the quail egg skewers which are not pictured because we ate them all before realized that we haven't snapped a picture. Overall amazing food and drinks! The atmosphere is casual and more of an izakaya, which means the restaurant permits people to smoke indoors which is disgusting, and the only thing that made it less of an amazing experience.

Yama-chan is a chain restaurant that is found all around Nagoya, but even so, I just cannot get enough of their Tebasaki chicken...
The first time I went to a Yama-chan, I was with a large group, and we ordered the course menu. Got a ton of good food such as:
-tebasaki chicken: such nice spice on what look like chicken wings. Nice and crisp outside too
-edamame: pretty standard
-salad: also pretty standard
-chicken skewers: yummy
-shrimp chips: puffy and shrimp-tasting (duh! haha)
-beef innards (I think?) in miso: interesting chewy texture, but good
-miso katsu sticks/kushiyaki: one of my favorites next to tebasaki
-sushi: by this time we were already pretty full, but nice to have rice
-cake: fluffy and light, which was nice after the meal
The thing is, Yama-chan was a bit inflexible as to our group number. We had reserved for 20, but 15 showed, but still had to pay for 20, and they brought out 20 servings...that wasn't very cool.
The second time at Yama-chan, we got tebasaki, miso katsu sticks, fried rice (a nice amount of spice, but a bit pricey for fried rice...), salad, and soy sauce garlic karaage (excellent taste - would recommend). Overall, a good meal, and nice to go with friends to split things family style!Helpful 3Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Fiona-Joy M.Nanba, Ōsaka-shi, Japan2422Jul 9, 2017
OMG A MUST!!!! Wings are criiiiiiiiispyyy and delicious! The run they put on the wings is insane! Get on the special fried rice and the deep fried cheese sticks, sink a lemon sour and you're on your way to a 10/10 night!

My first time ever at Yama-chan chain restaurant and this place is huge! It's tucked in sakae behind Oasis 21, in an area with plenty of different izakaya style places.
They apparently were packed on the Friday evening when my group of five were looking for a place to eat-we were only able to be seated if we agreed to sit in a smoking section. By this time, starving and thirsty, we took our seats after completing the climb of 4 flights of stairs.
Wings were OK, I prefer wings from Furaibo and other sides like the cabbage salad or edamame weren't extraordinary in any way. Service was prompt and quick. I had a good time because of my group but for taste I'd have to go somewhere else for chicken wings.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Dec 11, 2016
I made plans to come to Nayoga to just try out Tebasaki here . Yama-Chan is a chain and I have heard so much about it so we came in with a high hopes. We did not leave here disappointed. The chicken wings here were the bomb diggity ! We ate dinner early so we weren't planning to have more than a few orders but we ended up with a lot of chicken wings :) Order the umeshu ( plum wine) to go with it and it was one of the best meals we've had on this trip. I saw some Yama-Chan in Tokyo and Kyoto too so we will try there as well next time.

Food is good and reasonablely priced. Thought it won't be that good as chain restaurant. It actually taste really good. We were going to try chicken wings only but ordered a lot more. Tried horse and duck sashimi and deer meat as well. Something unusual to us. This place had 4 floors. Easy to find seats.

this is a most famous restaurant in Nagoya.
Yamachan .
this restaurant is so popular that you can see it anywhere in Nagoya.
this restaurant's chicken wing are so popular.
its a deep fried chicken wing with special salty sauce.
its little bit spicy,
so match on alcohol,especially beer.
but
unfortunately,
i don't like beer mach
fortunately they also serve special Shochu.
when i go there,
i have chicken wing,but
i have Shochu and deep fried shrimp with mayonnaise.
this is my best!
if you visited here,tell me your best!!Helpful 3Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 0 - Madison W.Fullerton, CA2397May 28, 2017
Karage and the Taiwan Ramen ALL NIGHT YO. They ran out of room so we even sat in the smoking section. That's how good these wings are!

Oh how I miss tebasaki....
Yamachan is essentially THE place in Nagoya for this regional-specialty appetizer. Is it the best in Aichi prefecture/Nagoya? No, but they're always damn good and consistent! It's a major, major chain, you can even buy Yamachan tebasaki candy at Tokyuu Hands and Loft! Don't really recommend those, but for the novelty, sure!
Yamachan is great for last minute, late night large groups (sometimes, depends on the location), and is very reasonably priced so you can eat all the tebasaki chicken wings your heart desires...which for me, would be hundreds.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 0
