The Merchant in Madison, WI confirms that on Friday night, Patrick Sweeney (one of the owners) politely asked Scott Walker to leave the establishment when other customers began booing him. A bartender at The Merchant said that, "his presence was causing a disturbance to the other customers and management asked him to leave."

Reminds me of the scene in "Dangerous Liaisons" when Glenn Close is booed out of the opera box after her scandal is made public.

I called the man from CA an asshole. Juvenile? Yes. Clever? No. Relieving? Definitely.

My favorite is the one from Kenosha that wrote a three-star review complaining about a "political" four-star review "bloating" the ratings because four is too high in her opinion.

I have read that the Merchant story is not true and did not happen.  No one should ever be kicked out of a restaurant unless they are personally causing a serious disturbance.  The disturbance in the story if it were true would be with the people booing and not the Governor.  I personally think that businesses that take a position of support on this issue deserve some thanks such as the Glass Nickel, Ian's and others.

if the story is true, it just shows how backwards liberals are!! we fought hard in this country for the civil rights of everybody!! if true..this is a disgrace to the memory of martin luther king jr!!

Why did the Merchant even allow the asshole in?

looked into it,  the whole "story" is a hoax.  Benjamin, what you said about Gov. Walker is not nice !! I hope when you file your tax return you ask for zero deductions and refuse any refund you may be due! Gov. Walker is acting like the responsible adult, the unions and the bused in supporters banging on drums and chanting are acting like spoiled children!!!

p.s. when you have to chant and bang on drums that means you have no idea what you are protesting and can not have the highest IQ, it makes you a drone!!!

kenken, while you might not think what I said was nice, to say Walker is acting like a responsible adult is absolutely absurd. What do you base that on? Clearly you are the one driving around Madison with the Palin 2012 bumper sticker. Walker is eroding the fundamental democratic rights so many citizens take for granted. How can you say a responsible adult is one that denies the citizens to be able to protest? Americans have the right to free speech and if that means banging a drum, so be it. We criticize China for such actions. Do you think it is appropriate for any Governor to threaten the arrest of the Senators for not complying with his demands? The Democratic Senators have every right to protest in any way they feel fit. If the same thing was happening anywhere else in the world we would launch a military attack. Walker is an ignorant bully and a thug.

BTW why would I request zero deductions and refuse a refund? You clearly do not understand tax law as much as you don't understand the constitution.

Trent R. from CA responded back "Like the sign say- it takes one to know one, ASSHOLE."

He either meant "like the signs say" or "like the sign says" but I'm not sure if realizes he is calling himself an asshole with his statement.

    Bravo, Trent R!

An acquaintance of our is a friend of the owner.  This indeed DID happen.  They'd like to keep it quiet though, because even with all of the positive feedback, they have received a small amount of negative.  And some threats.  When we were in Madison last Saturday, we stopped in to show our appreciation.  The drinks were awesome.

Well, that business owner must be on crack cocaine or something.
Scott walker was voted in my the people for the people, in an overwhelming majority ( despite what a few, drunk loud mouths ) way want you to believe.
He did the right thing ! Not easy, but he did it.
That idiot of a business owner and just hurt himself, by all the SB supporters who I might add is the vast Marjory all over the country.

Well, the business owner still made a very bad choice.
The majority rules on this topic.
It's just that the minority makes allot of noise.
Scott Walker was voted in by the residents of your state?
What did you think he was going to do?
He was and still is, tasked to balance your budget.

It's funny how all of the anti-Merchant political reviews came from outside WI. Rocky from Texas, Walker's approval ratings have tanked and he is currently facing a recall, as are all of the Republicans in office right now. Now THAT is how majority rules. This year had a poor voter turnout all around the country, which is one part of how Walker took office. The second part is he lied to the people that voted for him. He fraudulently ran as a working class candidate who brown bagged it. Meanwhile he takes office, cuts the middle and lower class off, and makes no fiscal amendments to his own salary while simultaneously giving tax breaks to the rich.

There is an awful lot more that is wrong with Walker. He may have fooled some voters (not I) but if you were actually in WI and not watching from FOX News you'd see that the majority in WI has turned against him

Well; regardless of how you think and feel Richard, he is doing the right thing.
Is it possible that unions have made Wisconsin one of the worst states to do business in?
    Come now? Get with reality.
    Embrace the free market.
Unionism is only for communist countries.
If one is really a hard core unionist, then why don't they move to say Poland or Russia?

Time and time again Mr. Balboa is proving himself to be in dire need of an education. Poland was the home of the Solidarity party, a trade union based political party that broke the back of communist rule in Poland and brought about the first post communist era free elections.
    "Get with reality"?

Oh my, I just realized that Mr. Balboa is from Texas, and that he's a MAN. I guess I shouldn't have messed with him.

    Patrick your the man!.
You may not be " Rocky Balboa" but you do indeed have a sense of humor, apparently.
Philosophically speaking, I gather we are polar opposites.
