My fiancée surprised me with a cheesecake from this bakery and it was probably the best cheesecake I have ever had! It was light and fluffy! The decors on the cheesecake was delicious! The dulce de leche cream was not overly sweet which I loved. The macaroons were really good as well! 10/10 would recommend a cheesecake from this place!
There was minor confusion and language barrier with my order, but we were able get everything sorted out and I left the store with my delicious cheesecake!
When I walked into the store I thought the ambiance of the cafe was great!Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - 115176386Aug 28, 2022
Cute bakery in North Bergen! I was craving chocolate cake and was surprised to find one that has a nice seating area. They have pastries and cakes. I was looking for a more cakey cake but instead got a fudge cake that melts in the mouth. So I didn't get to satisfy myself with the chewing but this chocolate cake reminds me of the 'no chewing allowed' chocolate only sold during the winters in NYC.

This is, by far, my favorite cafe! When the weather is warm, I love sitting outside! Their croquetas, although a little salty, are really tasty, and they actually have chocolate croissants, which are really really tasty, although I wish they didn't have powdered sugar on top. The cortaditos are THE BEST so far, including the decaf!!!! (Thank you for that! Can't have caffeine, but the decaf still has great flavor!)
The inside is really cute, love the entire ambiance! And the girls behind the counter are ALWAYS very nice, accommodating, and sweet. AND they work very fast, so even if there is a long line, you don't wait that long. And I hate to say this, but I wish the one in Union City was as good. I don't understand why they don't carry chocolate croissants in the Union City one. I wish it was just a good as the one in Gutenberg. I've yet to try the one in NB by Rumba Cubana, so that will be next!
To the owner: Please make them all the same! I live within walking distance from the one in UC but have to travel to Guttenberg!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Carmen R.FL, FL0249Jan 11, 2024
I just got in from west palm beach,fl and 1 stop is here. The coffee is great. The desserts are delicious. My favorite is the ham & cheese on multigrain croissant. The have the right touch for croissants not doughy but flakey as it should be. I know I have been to Paris and that what a real croissant should taste like not the crap you get a supermarkets!

What a cool local spot. This is the reason I love New Jersey. You can find spots like this and they pack a punch. The pastries taste fresh and are so good. The carne empanada was cold on the inside even after we asked for it hot. The guava pastry however more than made up for the empanada being cold. It was one of the better pastries I have had in a while and I have had a lot of pastries. Awesome local spot!

Upset at the customer service today. I came in around 11am and I forgot to tell the barista that I wanted almond milk with my latte so I asked her if she could please remake it and she did, but, she told me she had to charge me for both lattes because she already made them both. I told her I couldn't drink it because it had regular milk (I'm lactose intolerant) and she said I could just give it to someone else....I've worked as a barista at several other coffee shops and have never made a customer pay for an honest mistake. Genuinely confused that they made me pay for something that I wasn't going to drink!

Happened upon Las Chicas while walking around N. Bergen... and all 8 of us loved what we got. Las Chicas has sweet and savory treats, beautiful cakes and lovely coffee options. The decor is cute, the restroom is clean and the staff is friendly. Could see us visiting regularly if we were locals.!

This bakery has delicious cakes, and pastries, as well as, sandwiches for lunch. The bakery is very clean, and it is lovely inside. I've always experience good service, and have no complaints.
I'd recommend ordering in advance if you are shopping for a specific cake, as they do run out at times. This location is close to my job, so it's an easy place to stop at after lunch, or on the way home.Helpful 5Thanks 0Love this 6Oh no 0 - Vanessa M.West New York, NJ23Aug 24, 2022
Cakes good-- definitely recommend if you're looking for a great tasting cake. However, the service is painfully slow

Excited to check out another local latino bakery!
Ambience is nice and location was superb - what could go wrong?
I went in early morning during the week and ordered cafe con leche, a meat pastry, and wanted to try a guava & cheese pastry that many reviewers seem to mention. I was a bit puzzled by absence of any menu and prices, but oh well maybe that's just how they roll? I remember the other bakery pretty much across the street had a menu board.
They charged me close to $8? I didn't think much and went to a table near the window with my cafe con leche. It was quite fragrant and light. When the pastries were toasted, a server brought the tray to me and I noticed there were two meat pastries. I told the girl behind the counter that took my order that I had only ordered one, and to my surprise, she didn't so much hesitate but just flat out say, "No you ordered two." Uh... excuse me? It was... a bit odd for her to say such a thing to an obviously new customer. (accentuated by the fact that i'm like the only Asian here) But it wasn't something to ruin my morning mood over so I just let that go saying it's alright.
Meat pastry as server warned me was a bit sweet. Maybe a bit too doughy for my taste, and meat was... well... just there. Nothing too delicious. As for the guava & cheese pastry, I couldn't quite get why it's popular. Hmm... maybe it's because I'm just not too acquainted with latino bakery items.
Towards the end of my coffee, I also noticed a distinct hardness in the taste... like boiled tap water. So then I realized that coffee wasn't too good of a quality, either, using prob unfiltered tap water and not enough coffee grinds.
Overall, I loved the atmosphere and the idea but I was disappointed. While I wouldn't write them off just yet and will likely visit to try their other items, subpar customer service experience and foods mean I'd likely go to their competitor before I step foot here again.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0
