What a neat historical place showing off some very old historical art work of Dresden Germany. The court yards and gardens were absolutely spectacular to walk through and around the palace. Walking through and understanding culture hear was pretty fun and great experience.

This was my favorite landmark in Dresden...
The architecture was absolutely breathtaking. There's a clock tower there that chimes! The Baroque style is prominent throughout the area and there are many statues near the rear part of the building.

Like everyone says - walking into the square at Zwinger took my breath away. Huge complex of museums, amazing Baroque style architecture on the outside. I spent a lot of time climbing the outside stairs to admire the gorgeous sculptures and gardens and just take in the views. Entrance to the exterior courtyard is free, and entry to view the art was €7.50. I was there on a Sunday so maybe reduced rate. In addition to the museum, The ticket also gives free entry to the WC downstairs. If you have big purses and coats, you will have to check them into a locker or the coat check before entering the museum. To note, you must put €1 or €2 into the inside of the locker to lock it and get the key out. If you do not have change, they will keep your bag at the coat check.

Old Masters Picture Gallery and Porcelain Collection were absolutely stunning. It will take you quite a few hours to go through and see everything.

I'm a bad tourist because I was in Dresden for just one night, but I wanted to see Zwinger for one reason and one reason only: the exterior of the building was used in the movie "The Grand Budapest Hotel." I'm a huge movie lover and Wes Anderson fan and it didn't disappoint.

I wasn't able to go inside since it was closed, but the exterior grounds were open and free to walk around even late at night. It's sprawling and beautiful, and you can get some great shots of the city's twinkling lights.

The Zwinger is a palace in Dresden, built in Rococo style and designed by court architect Matthäus Daniel Pöppelmann. It served as the orangery, exhibition gallery and festival arena of the Dresden Court.

Gorgeous buildings surround a huge inner courtyard and it's a photographers dream as, the space is so expansive and varied. We walked around here but one could easily spend a few hours walking around the place.

Today, the Zwinger is a museum complex that contains the Gemäldegalerie Alte Meister, the Dresden Porcelain Collection and the Mathematisch-Physikalischer Salon. We did not have a chance to see any of the museums so cannot comment on the collection.

A must visit when in town.

"Wow!" That's was my first impression when I first walked in Zwinger. What a beautiful palace. My partner and I visited this place at the sunset time right after our dinner. We walked around this place under the sunset and the street lights illumination, this place was simply beautiful and magical.

Zwinger is located quite close to the Altstadt in Dresden, it is easy to travel to this place. There are bus and tram stops very close by. We went there on foot, it wasn't so far from where we stayed and it was really great to walk there, there were many other different cool sights of Dresden along the way. Inside the palace, it got four small fountains in the middle, I was sitting aside the fountains for a break. It was really nice place to sit down, I really enjoyed the view. I also walked around this place, the whole place was just fascinating and historical. It got so many details around the place, I felt like I could spent the whole day here. But I didn't since we had other plans. I really like the Rococo style here. it got also some cool galleries here.

Right next to the Zwinger is the Theaterplatz, which is also great place to have a walk, especially at the evening. we both enjoy this place very much. For me, this definitely is one of the most beautiful and grand sights in Dresden and one of the place you can't miss if you visit Dresden. It's just simply Brilliant!

The most beautiful place I have been to in terms of an outdoor palace. WOW.

It was lively. As people entered a massive tunnel with beautiful music, not to expect the beauty on the other side, it was EYE OPENING to see the lovely garden with beautiful fountains and stone carvings that were in every direction you were looking at. The garden seems nicely trimmed, the stone statues are starting to wear, but I feel like someone is here to replace and fix up some of the statues. This is DEFINITELY a hidden gem that many people don't talk about visiting, but I really think that this is one of the most beautiful places I've been to (now that I'm writing this after I've been to Versailles as well).

I'm super disappointed that this was just a pit stop in our tour cause there's lots to do and I wish I had a whole day or two days to explore this area a little more.

If you are visiting Dresden, you most likely will run into this place as this place is the most prominent structure named Zwinger. It is a palace with a crown atop one of its towers. The crown signifies the right to rule and the rightful ruler that is King August. When you enter Zwinger, you have the option to visit the two branches of exhibits. One is the mathematical clocks and globe exhibit, and the other is the porcelain exhibit. Both are worth a visit, and the ticket to visit both costs around 12 euros. You also have the option to simply walk up to the second floor of the terrace to take some awesome photos instead. From the top of the terrace, you will have a clear view of the statue of King August as well as the Church of the Holy Trinity. Enjoy the view and take some great photos!

There a garden inside the palace. Several museums inside the royal palace. Must see if you are in Dresden.

For €10 this is a great way to spend a afternoon. This is a must see when in Dresden. I visited all three museums here and they were great. Highly recommend!
