Good food, quaint atmosphere, TERRIBLE service!!
We have continued to give this place a try every few months especially after hearing it changed owners/management!! A nice quiet, quaint little restaurant
The food was very good but the service was deplorable. Our waiter spent the entire time hanging out in the corner with his friends. We had sat down well and even ordered before this group he seemed to be entertaining and they had gotten their food well before us!
We ordered the buffalo chicken fries to start which came out with my Caesar salad pizza (THAT IS A HUGE PET PEEVE OF MINE) appetizers are "starters" NOT "sides".. then we had to wait another half an hour for my husbands burger! Food was quickly dropped and ran back to his entertainment gig. The fries were good..a little soggy and some weren't cooked all the way through and we're certainly light on the chicken. Give the Chicken Caesar pizza a try!! I've never had it before and was definitely something different and very good!
All-in-all the food was really good but our experience and the service was absolutely terrible..I tried waving down our waiter a few times and was ignored. Eventually walked up to counter to ask the other waitress for a box and our check.
Good food, quaint atmosphere, terrible service.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Jun 23, 2019
Came here on a whim one night when staying at a local hotel. It wasn't busy at all which is surprising because the food was really good.
Nice selection of beers on tap and not bad on the wine either.
We went with garlic bread with cheese; chicken Caesar Salad for the Mrs and I had a pesto chicken sandwich. All are good. The salad my wife had was huge. Service was super friendly.
If you are on the area, give them a try. For now, it's a hidden gem for dinner.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Lauren B.Windsor, CT73182134Oct 26, 2018Updated review
Something is different here. Did they get a new chef? I was really in the mood for a good salad and Zocco's has never disappointed. I got a house salad with steak - the steak was so overcooked, there were no flatbread pieces which I LOVED, it had store-bought croutons, no seasonal vegetable, grape tomatoes instead of cut up tomatoes. It was basically a salad mix, some sliced onion, a couple of kalamata olives, one slice of a black olive, some little tiny crumbles of mozzarella cheese, and some grape tomatoes. The best part of the salad was the dressing.
I'm so disappointed, but I'm not going to waste $13 on a salad that is less than mediocre. Crossing this place off my list of lunch spots.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0Jan 21, 2010Previous reviewLove their salads, especially the house salad with grilled chicken. Tomato basil vinaigrette dressing is delicious. And love the little flatbreads you get with the salad.
This place is always packed. If you are ordering out, make sure you call ahead, especially at lunchtime. - Feb 12, 2019Updated review
2/9/19-The restaurant has reopened under new management. There is a new menu and new choices. The prices are more expensive from what I remember. The salads are smaller if we had to compare but the same variety of olives, mixed greens, sweet potato and tomatoes.
My appetizer of fried mozzarella was hand made breaded slices and delicious!
I was able to get a chicken Marsala with this menu. The chicken was melt in your mouth - a delight!
The Marsala sauce was very liquidy and strong. There were plentiful mushrooms layered on top but I did not recognize the variety- also tasty.
The cheesecake I got for dessert I ate too fast to take a picture, sorry- it too was delicious.
I am glad to see some improvements from our initial try right after the change over.
The new Zoccos is also continuing with the frequent flyer cards.
The wait staff was numerous and attentive to our needs and wonderful to converse with.
I will return in the near future.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0Jul 28, 2018Previous reviewAmazing meal as always! We do love coming here knowing that we will not be rushed thru our meal as the food is all prepared to order!
The best dining experience!Jan 12, 2018Previous reviewAs always an amazing meal! The calamari literally melted in your mouth- so tender. My chicken Marsala I opted to have it served over the seasonal risotto- awesome and so delicious! Even as they were so busy never once did we feel rushed. Service was impeccable - we even enjoyed the water served in wine glasses due to the fact that the regular glasses were being washed! It added an additional flair of elegance to our already fantastic meal! Now we are just waiting for our sweet treat of the apple crisp ala mode!!
What a fabulous end to our busy hectic week!!!Nov 20, 2014Previous reviewThe specials and daily food menu items are fabulous! Tonight was 2 Entrees for $20. The Portions are large with plenty of take home! Service is always great!

Surprisingly delicious pizza.
This small restaurant has an old diner feel with booths and utensils that look old and feel sticky. However, for all there is to dislike, the pizza makes up for it.
The service is VERY slow. I came here with my coworkers, hoping for a quick lunch. However, it did not end up being so. We waited probably around 30 minutes for our pizzas to come out.
I ordered clam chowder and white pizza. The clam chowder- the soup of the day- was not warm and tasted overly salty, and probably from a can. Not a fan.
The white pizza, on the other hand, was delicious. The crust is thick, but it isn't heavy. Imagine fluffy breadsticks. The pizza was filled with vegetables and the flavoring was great. The small, which was ~8, was more than enough for me. I ate probably half of it and left feeling SO full, so the pizza is definitely worth the price.
I didn't quite like the restaurant itself, but I would recommend coming here solely for the pizza!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - May 2, 2013
(This review is for lunch only)
I've seen a lot of good reviews for dinner. But I had lunch here today, and was not overly impressed.
The interior is nicely furnished and the service was friendly, and prompt - all pretty good. I ordered a Grilled Chicken Fasani (panini) with Spinach, provolone, roasted peppers an tomato pesto. It was $7. It was also very luke warm. It took quite a while for the food to come out, and I had visions of this once hot steaming panini neglectfully languishing away on a counter before being reduced to room temperature and making the final leg of it's journey to my table. It was served with a 1/2 ounce bag of Cape Cod chips. Have you ever seen what a 1/2 ounce of chips looks like? You spill more than that when you open a normal sized bag.
I'm sure that having dinner here is a better experience than the lunch I had here today. I would settle for the next lunch I have here being better than today's less than stellar experience.Helpful 4Thanks 0Love this 4Oh no 0 - David A.Charlotte, NC170298452Oct 17, 2018
The place is clean and the staff polite. They warned us that due to the large number of catering orders that all food was taking 45 minutes to be ready. It didn't end up being THAT long, but we appreciated the honesty and expectations off the bat.
It wasn't overly busy at noon on a Wednesday, but was far from empty.
I had a chicken salad which was very large and quite tasty. My coworker had a sandwich which she said was also very good.
Definitely recommend to those who work in the area to give this place a try!Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Marjorie S.Enfield, CT9922588Feb 3, 2018
I don't know how I missed this little gem of an Italian bistro in the year and a half I lived a couple of miles away, but I am glad I have found it now!
From the starters to the entrees to the sandwiches and salads, there is so much more than pizza here. I will have to visit often to do a more comprehensive review, but for now, our clam chowder, sausage and peppers on focaccia and eggplant parm made such an impression we are "in" customers for a long time to come.
The chowder was made with a nice cream base and lots of tender clams and potatoes. This one was better than some we have had at seafood restaurants. The sausage patty and peppers we a delightful break from links and peppers, and fit the focaccia perfectly for a tasty and neat sandwich. As for my eggplant parm, this one was perfect--lightly breaded, crispy outer layer not oily or deep-fried tasting, and then delicately covered with a delicious marinara and served over penne, which we requested al dente, and found quite to our satisfaction.
Speaking of satisfaction, "no problem" seems to be the mantra for owners Robbie and Amy Niemann. I am certain that once you try this little eatery, you will be a regular.
Find their full menu at http://www.zoccosrestaurant.com. And tell them Marjorie sent you. I want to spread the word.Helpful 3Thanks 0Love this 4Oh no 0 - 18519384Jan 29, 2019
Disappointed. We ordered take out back in 10/18 and neither one of us finished our meals. I got the tortellini and I forget what my husband ordered. We also got a salad to share. We ended up using our own salad dressing because the one that came with our salad was not good. I know the restaurant was closed briefly at the end of 2018 and has now re-opened, not sure what changes were made during that brief closing. We heard there was a new chef but based on reviews I've seen online I can't tell if that was before or after we ate there??

If you like pizza that uses cheap heart burn inducing sauce, and nasty dough(fairly sure it's the frozen variety based on texture) that is hard and mealy, make sure you order it from here!
Ordered 4 large pizzas for a group work function, and the only reason any of us were ok with it is because we didn't pay for it.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0
