Food is great and super fresh. I just wish the waffle was bigger than 6 inches in diameter or came with two waffles. 7 dollars for one waffle is not a good deal.

What a great experience! Just after spending 3 days in NOLA and on the way to airport and looking for a local eatery, we spotted Zeke's. First, the decor was charming-not cutsy. (We'd had enough of that in the French Quarter.) Second, the our server was very friendly and helpful. Third, and most important, our food was the best of our trip! All four of us had something different-the split pea soup was definitely a meal, lots of ham and thick like gumbo; my etouffee was delicious-loaded with shrimp; the dishes our friends had were equally good. Chef came out to greet us. (And we had plenty of fresh, hot corn bread...) Would definitely go back next time in New Orleans.

Very disappointed to have driven here on a recent trip to Metairie/New Orleans to find a sign on the door stating as of October they had sold out the restaurant and it would potentially re-open under new owners.
A little sad that after all the work Chef Ramsay's team put into the place, they just gave it up and sold out. What a waste of time.Helpful 90Thanks 0Love this 21Oh no 0 - 44525927824Sep 4, 2012
I haven't eaten here again since Gorden Ramsay did his makeover but I ate here several times before then. Nothing here was outstanding but nothing was terrible. This is an unassuming typical Metairie strip mall type of place with pretty mediocre food. The seafood dishes often seemed to be lacking and I generally opted for their other options which were alright but not quite worth the price. The only thing I really liked about this place is the servers were generally very friendly and authentic NOLA Yat-tastic. I might check it out again to see if Gorden was able to make any lasting improvements in the joint but my prior experiences left me very unimpressed.

My husband and I live in the area and have been here a couple times. The food is awesome. I suggest trying the eggplant sticks, mashed potatoes, grilled chicken sandwich. The bred pudding by the way, was the best. My husband eats bread pudding at every restaurant he can, and we agreed that it was the best we have ever tasted. The chef came out the ask us how we liked everything, and we told her everything was great but the bread pudding was amazing. She told us it was her great-grandma's recipe. Wow! Needless to say, we will definately go back. Service was great as well.

I guess this place was ok. The service was good. The food wasn't bad, the portions were kind of small for the price and the atmosphere of the restaurant. We shared the bell pepper rings as an app, then I shared the fried seafood platter which was pretty big, but I was still expecting more for the $24. Others at my table got the pan seared drum, which was a laughably small portion. Everything is served on these trendy plates like that is supposed to class up the food, but the atmosphere of the restaurant doesn't fit with the tableware. They need to pick a style, either go completely upscale or go completely family style. I just don't think they are successful with trying to blend the two. It was all ok, nothing that made me fly out of my chair. I probably won't return to Zeke's unless I am with a group of people who choose to go. It was definitely better than my experience at Walk On's last weekend, but still not really my cup of tea.

Visited here last year right after their relaunch on kitchen nightmares and it was awesome!!! The lobster bisque was to DIE FOR!! I just recently visited here again a year later on a return business trip and it's still awesome! Food is great, service is great, friendly staff, knowledgable about the food & just an all around great experience. The only sad note is the lobster bisque was replaced with soup of the day:(( it was still great but that lobster bisque was legendary. I couldn't wait to visit here again just to have it so I was disappointed but will stop by whenever in the neighborhood. Its not cheap food so you pay for it but its well worth it.

While my experience last night was ok, it was a heck of a lot better last May when I went to Zeke's. Service was ok. Not great, but our server told us she was learning the ropes so no biggie. Waited about 15 minutes with an empty iced tea...also the corn bread was not great. The crawfish, were delicious, but overpriced at $11 for 2 lbs with no trimmings.
The fried chicken was better when I ordered it in May. The fried sage was inexplicably left off this time, and it's a shame, because it really does make this dish special. The chicken is pretty good though. Mac and cheese just ok, collard greens were great. My girlfriend had the three bean special with smoked sausage. Delicious.
Bring back the fried sage!!!!!!!!! And lower your crawfish prices. I know for a fact that they marked the boiled crawfish wayyyyyy up. Don't cheat your customers if you want to make loyal customers.Helpful 4Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 0May 12, 2011Previous reviewGordon Ramsay did a number on this place. Pre-Kitchen Nightmares, Zeke's was just ok. The couple of times I went there, I was underwhelmed, although it was not terrible. We finally went back tonight and almost everything was perfect. The raw oysters were salty and large. I got the 1/2 Fried Chicken with honey apples and fried sage, with a side of Mac N Cheese and Black Eyed Peas. The chicken was worth the wait. Sweet, crispy, and tender. We got Oreo Beignets for dessert which were stupid delicious. Service was pretty ok and my only real complaint was the side salad which pretty much consisted of 3 pieces of spring mix lettuce and about 5 shaved onions. At $3 it was overpriced, bland, and boring. That is my only complaint and the only reason that Zeke's didn't get 5 stars from me. Can't wait to go back and get the boiled seafood bucket for 2. Looking forward to watching the drama unfold on Kitchen Nightmares tomorrow evening!
Also the prices cannot be beat. The 1/2 Chicken was $13 and it was an incredible amount of food. Honestly, it's more than enough for two. - Perrey L.New Orleans, LA17615091Feb 12, 2012
I knew from the reviews that I shouldn't expect much from this place, but, truth be told, my inexplicable and debilitating crush on Chef Gordon Ramsay meant that really nothing could keep me from eventually checking this place out.
The menu was extremely and lamely limited to stereotypical and touristy New Orleans cuisine. We received two very very very small triangles of corn bread that tasted like they had been baked at least the day before, if not earlier. The only word that comes to mind is "pitiful."
The highlight of our meal was definitely the fried green tomatoes. The remoulade was KICK ASS. The crab and corn bisque was also sinfully good. I got the special, tuna steak, that tasted as if it hadn't been seasoned at all. Yuck-o. My side of drunk cabbage was phenomenal though. The mac & cheese was good but not worth the fat/calorie sacrifice. Ky got the pork chops - a massive, gravy-fied meal. He didn't like the cabbage, though, so that was a total score for me.
They also had $2 martinis, but the one I has was tee-tiny and disgustingly briny. Not worth it at all.Helpful 10Thanks 0Love this 9Oh no 0 - Brian N.Canoga Park, CA6917Jan 3, 2012
