What an amazing place to have curry. Located in a small parking lot, Zafran doesn't draw your attention right away. However, it definitely deserves it.
We tried the Chicken Tikka Marsala and the Butter Chicken Curry, along with their garlic naan bread. We were completely blown away by everything! The curries were smooth, tasty, and herb-y (is that even a word?), and had a nice balance of spices. While I don't claim to be a curry connoisseur, this tastes about as authentic as I've ever tried. I was savoring every last bite.
The service was outstanding, our waitress was so patient and attentive. She also tried to gave us our naan bread for free! We made sure to tip extra, and we are DEFINITELY coming back.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Feb 12, 2021
I tried this place per friend's recommendation. I called ahead to place an order for take out and the staff was super nice. We ordered chicken tikka masala and goat curry and garlic naan. I'm glad chicken tikka masala comes with rice because I hate to pay for rice separately when the entree is to eat with rice!!! Garlic naan was small but the price was cheap ($2.50). It could have been better but for the price, I won't complain.
The chicken tikka masala was quite a disappointment though. It was saltier than normal.
The goat curry was expensive ($14) but the meat was very good and tender!!
I also got the mango lassi and it was quite a different taste. Not sure if I like it or not. Maybe because mango is not in season?!
Overall, I give this place a B-! Extra stars for the service and the goat curry!!!Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Nov 17, 2021Updated review
The food was mediocre with the chicken dishes having the bones in them. They had goat and chicken curry, veggie and chicken biryani, which is supposed to be their claim to fame. Major fail. Two crowd pleasers, chicken tikka masala and tandoori chicken were meh. I will say the food in the warming trays was hot, hotter than most Indian buffets. Their garlic naan was oily and doughy. The food selection was small and $13.95.
The air conditioner was off and it was hotter inside the restaurant than outside on a warm day. When I asked for them to lower the AC, I was told only the manager can do that and she was not available. The AC thermometer was set at 85!
I felt so sorry for them, hence the 2 stars. I will most decidedly not return.Helpful 3Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0Sep 20, 2019Previous reviewThe food was mediocre with the chicken dishes having the bones in them. I felt so sorry for them, hence the 2 stars. I will not be back and will not be hosting a dinner party for 10 people there. I still like Abaruchi Grill down the street for their lunch buffet. - Jun 16, 2021
I think I've found an Indian place that I can frequent over and over again. I have to admit, I only wanted to go here initially because they have a dish called Kadai Paneer. So, I'm a bit of a nerd, and years ago, there was an episode of Big Bang Theory where Sheldon mentions this specific dish. And no one else seems to make it. I have to say, it's my favorite dish here. It's definitely deeper and warmer than most curry dishes, but the sauce and bell peppers and cheese just all go together so naturally (not as "nutty" as I would had thought). My follow up favorite was the Butter Masala Paneer and then the Chicken Masala. The garlic naan was good. The chicken pieces in the dishes were cubed and so tender and moist (aside from what the sauce offered to that). Definitely going to go back.

Zafran is my go to indian spot outside of samosa house. Their food is always good. The palak paneer is one of my favorites to get anywhere and zafran pots palak paneer is solid.
The biryani is also very good and definitely not to be missed.
The chicken items are also quite delicious.
Parking lot definitely sucks and there is usually no space to park. Double park and pick up food to go...Helpful 3Thanks 0Love this 5Oh no 0 - 9145257Jul 14, 2019
I've been looking for a place that serves authentic Hyderabadi Dum Biriyani and this place has the closest I could come across. The rice is bit on the dry side (al dente is good but the top layer was dry). The flavour is good but too much spice going on in the chicken.
There's definitely scope for improvement and I can see this place has that potential.
We tried chilli chicken and it was well made - good balance of flavours.
The server was cordial and helpful! Would go back to try againHelpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - 140514363488Jun 29, 2020
This was my first time at Zafran pot. The girl at the front counter was very nice, it was lunchtime. I asked her what the lunch special was. She says it's a vegetarian or nonvegetarian. Oh really and can you show me on the menu what's in there? Not really. (: ?
It seemed strange but I have Have not eaten so I took my chance on the non-vegetarian. It consisted of chicken tikka marsala, and two other chicken dishes, some rice, a nan and the dough bread. I enjoyed everything the only thing I am a little critical on was the amount of chicken in the chicken tikka marsala it had about five or six small cubes in the sauce. For my liking I would probably just order the chicken tikka marsala and the rice the next time. The cost for the lunch was approximately $15, which seemed a little bit high but it was good .
I will be back and try something new.
At the present time it's only pick up takeout and delivery. And the place is messy inside with the tables and chairs which they could easily straighten out and make it look better!Helpful 8Thanks 0Love this 6Oh no 0 - 8481105Oct 28, 2021
Small strip mall indian spot with a decent, though not extensive lunch buffet ($13). Biryani seems to be the thing to do here, but they only offer chicken biryani on the buffet - that being said it was pretty damn good. parking is tight (busy corner strip)

I'm haunted by how delicious this meal is. Literally, there are days I'm working in Hollywood wishing I had the technology to teleport to the front door of Zafran Pot for a lunch special. Piping hot, fresh, and amazingly satisfying. Is it lunch time yet?
Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0Jun 29, 2021Previous reviewMy lunch special was perfect, a little chicken tikka masala, palak paneer, and aaloo gobi were deliciously fresh and satisfying. Pardon me, while I top off lunch with this small piece of gulab jamun. The service was amazing and my order was ready within 15 mins, i can't wait to return later this week
