I came here at a friends urging and left a fan. The restaurant is open but is waiting for the official opening and ribbon-cutting on 5-16-16. The menu has many Thai favorites and I picked a familiar one to get a feel for the food compared to other restaurants versions. The PKM (Pad Kee Mao) was good! The heat ranges from 1-5 and I chose the medium (3) which tasted like a medium heat to me and therefore was calibrated correctly.
Back to the menu. They have common and popular Thai dishes such as Pad Thai, Pad Kee Mao, Tom Yum soup and a variety of stir fries using various ingredients such as basil and garlic. There are curries. Pho is on the menu. In other words, there is a variety of items, many of which are not not necessarily Thai dishes. Many of these dishes are also not available elsewhere in Shelbyville.
I just found my new favorite lunch spot and I have some exploring to do!Helpful 3Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Nov 11, 2017
Working around this area and decided to try this place out tonight. We ordered the basil stir fry seafood and the red curry chicken . I must admit this place was delicious for a thai restaurant. The flavor for both our dishes was very authentic. The seafood in the stir fry had big scallops, squid and shrimp. The red curry consistency was just right. We also had tom yum and tom kha kai. Both very flavorful. The only thing that I did not like was the thai ice coffee. It tastes and smell like paint. I know the thai ice coffee was the pre made O-leng that you buy and just add milk . So it wasn't their fault. Service was great. Will be returning when I'm working around this area again.

A few of us were hungry and were looking for a place to eat in Shelbyville. A Google search brought us to Yummy Thai in Shelbyville. It was late and they were not busy and we were warmly welcomed. From beginning to end the service was exceptional. From the owner to our waitress we were well taken care of.
Appetizer: The Steam Dumplings were delicious and flavorful...you did not need any sauce to enjoy these!
Soups: While the chicken and rice soups were good, one of us had the Tom Kha (Coconut) soup. This is one of the BEST soups I have ever enjoyed. What an incredible mix of flavors from the coconut milk to the various spices. This soup is not to be missed!
I had the Steak Pad Thai at mild heat - great dish and a lot of food! Loved how the sauce/flavors of the noodles did not overpower the flavor of the steak.
My guests enjoyed the Green Curry and the Red Curry dishes at medium heat. I got to sample both and while both meals were enjoyed immensely (as evidenced by the clean plates) I personally loved the flavors of the Red Curry dish. Again...a mix of coconut milk with red curry paste and a wonderful hint of fresh basil really complimented this dish.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Jeremy L.Louisville, KY1412258Sep 18, 2016
So glad that Yelp alerted me to Yummy Thai in a town with very few places worth going. Very friendly. Owner is from Bangkok. He proudly showed the hot peppers he grows for the restaurant.
Nice imported beer choices. My wife really enjoyed the crispy salmon with basil.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Kelly K.Nashville, TN163130343Jan 4, 2018
I came across this Thai restaurant while visiting a friend in Shelbyville. I was very surprised to find this gem! I'm assuming the owner is very nice. She cane out to speak to us personally thanked us for dining in. We ordered fresh Spring rolls, Pad Thai, papaya salad, Tom yum seafood and Tofu Lad-Nah. They give you the option of hot and sour soup or salad made with their own house dressing as an option with the main courses. Everything came out in a very timely manner and the food was very fresh and portioned very nicely. The only complaint I had was that my papaya salad was but salty, but other than that, no complaints here. I would come back again next time I'm visiting town.

I stopped in for lunch yesterday based on prior Yelp reviews and I was rewarded with a very nice lunch.
The outside is not much to look at and had me somewhat concerned. Still, I went on in and found the interior clean and much nicer than the outside might indicate.
The service was quick, courteous and attentive, but the food! A nice Chicken & Rice soup to start and a Pad Thai that was enough for two! Both were flavorful and I was thankful I listened to previous reviewers.

I had the pad see ewe with beef. I was very tasty with plenty of broccoli, noodles and beef. I new to Thai food, so I went mild, I may try it a little spicier next time.
It was a good value and there are a lot of menu options, so I look forward to trying some other items next time.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Daniel B.Nashville, TN91312Jan 2, 2017
Unbelievable that authentic Thai cuisine is in Shelbyville. I have been 3 times and always leave impressed. I am unable to stay away from the beef pho. It is always piping hot and I love that the flavor can change each time based upon the extras you are able to add. My last visit I was happily surprised to learn there is a sushi bar. I tried a salmon roll and it was perfect. I hope everyone supports this establishment. I no longer have to leave Shelbyville for sushi or authentic thai food.

I have been waiting for Thai to come to Shelbyville for 25 years! Thrilled to have found it tonight on a visit to see my mother. Ordered Wonton soup & egg rolls for my not as adventurous mother. She claims it was the best she's ever had. I was feeing some Tom Kah soup and Beef Salad (Tiger's Tears). Did not disappoint. Ordered TO GO so I can't comment on the service. Owner and I had a nice conversation while I sipped on a glass of water while I waited on my order. As Arnold says, "I'll be back" anytime I come home to Shelbyville.

Amazing food and amazing service. A local place for a more worldly taste. Good sized menu and good prices. Serving sizes are fair and the service this trip was all smiles and super friendly. Fun to talk with owner(?) about Thai Land and experiences. Glad I asked about duck since it wasn't on the already large menu, and had one of the most flavorful duck meals I've ever had.
