BestBus - DuPont Circle

Compared to other buses (eg. Megabus), this bus is alright! There's free wifi, a free bottle of water prior to entering, and the ability to charge electronics.

Wifi - spotty but it works if you're patient! It took a few minutes to load one page, so I definitely recommend downloading movies prior to entering the bus or using things offline. Definitely don't have enough bandwidth to watch movies or a show!

Space - it's quite crammed for my personal preference. It reminded me of a cheaper economy airport flight in terms of space.

Water bottle - much loved on a warm day!

For a bus from DC to NY, this is a cheap option, but Amtrak is more comfortable! If we buy trips in advance, you can have a round trip to NY for just 80-90$!

Best Bus has the BEST customer service! I left my phone on the bus and the BestBus team quickly shipped it back to me. Shout out to Regina and Rrea! Besides, BestBus's ride between NY and DC does't disappoint.

I don't take good customer service and lost and found service from bus companies due to my last nightmare! When I forgot my suitcase after waking up from a nap (another bus company), I realized their call center is outsourced to India, who could not help me reach their ground office in D.C.. I had to be very resourceful and ubered directly to their parking lot to find my suitcase (luckily). Ever since that, I try not to choose bus companies without robust customer support.

My experience with BestBus was a breeze. I filled out the lost and found form on their website and called. I was quickly helped and received an email confirming my iPhone was identified within two days. I provided an USPS shipping label and they shipped the phone back to me safe and sound. I'll pay it forward by recommending Best Bus to everyone I know!

Took Best Bus up to New York then back to Virginia

Good drivers (Lee was amazing on my trip to New York)

Cons:
Arrival times- If you are on a tight schedule then it may not work for you.
The seats- the seats are SUPER uncomfortable.

Takeaways: Bestbus is a great service to get you from VA to NYC. The drivers are good and will get you to your destination. Arrival times aren't accurate but when you take a bus, you're at traffic's mercy. Your butt starts to hurt after awhile on the hard seats but otherwise, it's a good service.

I booked through OurBus but I think they're all the same company? But anyways I missed my first bus and OurBus customer service was so accommodating and allowed me to use my ticket from the bus I missed for the next departing bus. I really appreciated this cause I did not wanna pay for another ticket lol. Thank you and shout out to Pragye who was so kind to me and even called me to ensure I had figured it out!

This was 100x better than the flixbus I took on the way home. They gave everyone a free water bottle, buses had ACTUAL A/C and air ventilation thank god, and most people were able to get two seats to themselves and I had a lot of bags so this was super nice.
Outlets worked, wifi was spotty but I didn't really need it, and the bus driver clearly communicated everything and he also communicated when we stopped to change drivers. So much more professional than the other rinkydink bus companies. And customer service is A1! Only thing is I wish they would factor traffic into the time it says it'll take to get to NYC, it's always gonna be about 5 hours with traffic, not 4.
But besides the bus driver switch, there were no unnecessary stops.

I was in a jam and had to get to NYC from Dc Best Bus and Vamoose filled the bill.
I was impressed with the ease of booking and professionalism of the driver and associated staff. Price was more than fair, will be using this service again !

The bus was clean, the ride was pretty smooth, I got my water. Good thing I was paranoid about missing the bus and got there way early. The bus was supposed to leave 5:15 pm to NY from Dupont Circle. The driver left at 5:04, saying too bad for the people who weren't there; they are supposed to be there 30 minutes ahead of time. Hmm, um, well, ok. The seats are small. AND hard. My butt was killing me for the last half of the trip. The WiFi didn't work. The bus was pitch black. The woman next to me fell asleep (jealous) and I spent half of the trip trying to "defend" my meager space as she kept falling onto my shoulder and her bags hit my knees. I had taken this in the past and only had good experiences. The whole thing was very uncomfortable for me. Should I be taking Amtrak if this is the "champagne of buses"? Maybe.

I've been taking this bus for over a decade, when it was called to DC2NY. Great company! Great workers! Great drivers!

You pay a lil extra than the competitors, and you get an on time bus, comfortable seat, free water, free wifi, clean bathroom AND a better clientele of passengers as well.

I take once a month to Vienna from NYC. Which is quicker (and way cheaper) than taking the Amtrak to DC, then hoping on the orange line to Vienna.

So thankful for this company. Keep up the good work!

Easy booking process through wanderu.
Paid approx $25 each way to and from NYC on a fri to sun trip.
The line was smooth and fairly well organized (there is no need to print out your receipt).
The bus makes a stop in union station but otherwise is considered "express" and does not stop at Baltimore like many of the other major bus lines. An added perk is working WiFi as well as free water, clean seats, little trash bags at each seat too! It took 6 hours to get from dc to nyc but this was of course not in their control! Overall one of the better if not "best" busses out there - pun intended.

Exceeded my expectations! The bus was on time, the driver was friendly and helped us load our luggage onto the bus, and it was VERY clean. The bathroom was clean as well - no odor what so ever.

The bus was not full so single riders had rows to themselves. People were quiet and respectful, no one was rowdy or even talked during the bus ride to nyc.

My only complaint is that we ran into some traffic so the bus driver kept braking abruptly which caused me to feel a bit car sick at times. Other than that, smooth ride for the most part and extremely comfortable the whole way there.

Pros:
+ Probably one of the cheapest options I've found when comparing prices from DC to NYC. I paid about $50 roundtrip and it was during times that are usually popular.
+ Free water upon boarding.
+ Free Wifi that was easy to get onto. Finally, a wifi that wasn't spotty or weak!
+ Accuracy of time. Holy cow, I didn't think it was going to arrive exactly when it said it was! My bus time was 7 pm to 11 pm and when we left at 7:10 (waiting for later boarders), I really thought we wouldn't make the 11 PM mark but we did! Right on the dot! So impressive!
+ Outlets on the bus
+ Directions were very easy after booking - didn't need to bring anything, the bus driver just checked off names from what you said (seems easy to pass ticket to someone else too). Easy to find in Union Station if you're going from there - #29.

Cons:
+ the water holder doesn't work (as you can see from other people's pictures.) It wasn't a big deal for me at all but something to mention.
+ My seat did not lean back unfortunately. Others got it to work but mine was broken.

Just something to note - I believe the bus goes to Dupont first and then Union station. So if you are getting it from Union Station, expect to board a half full bus already. If you are traveling as a pair, you might be separated and it'd be rare for you to get a window seat.

Overall, I'm impressed and will ride again.
