Friends, Yelpers, Country Men... Lend me your eyes.

First things first, we've had several UYE's here and this was our first official Yelp! event. I want to thank Don and Mike for opening the place up to us and preparing the wonderful meal Tuesday night. Don gave a genuine and heartfelt speech about his time in the pub & restaurant business and is a really super nice guy. Like he said, "If there's something you don't like, let him know, he'll make it right". That's the truth. I've seen it first hand.

Our meal this evening was a taste of many items on the menu. The buffet included one of my favorites, the 50/50 burger in a slider form. That's actually a good fit for the menu, hint hint... Also on hand was very tasty Jambalaya that had a pleasant spicy aftertaste. However the dish to beat was the Pistachio Chicken. This was awesome and I really really really want to try this one again soon. Other items included a Brussel Sprout salad, Cheese Fritters (they're new) and the tried and true Spicy Cheese Dip. I bet that would be awesome on a baked potato. There were also Bloody Mary Muscles however I missed out on those because they were gone when I returned for seconds.

The O'Conner brewery was on hand to discuss their Beers and had pints of Great Dismal Black and other flavors available from the bar. Also on hand was Smirnoff with a variety of mixed drinks. Very cool indeed.

Last but certainly not least I want to thank Xerxes for putting another fine event together. We really appreciate your hard work setting up these events! It's always good to catch up with my Yelp! friends as well! I'll see you at the next event!

This Yelp! official event was lots of fun and some great food and drinks to go with it. I was looking forward to this event to give this business another shot. The owner Don is a great guy and I wish him all the success. But I'm not really gonna use this review to review his place, I'm gonna review the event. I plan to go back and hope to update my previous review. So....

The mustaches were lots of fun! The food offered was really great and plentyful. He provided tons of stuff to choose from. I much preferred the 50/50 burger in slider form as opposed to full size I have had before. I really enjoyed the cheesy chicken dip! Its got great texture and flavor and even if it cools a little on your plate doesn't get separated and greasy as some cheese based items can. id like to see him maybe look at making his own chips or something interesting to go with it. I went back for seconds on that! The pistachio chicken dish was also very nice. The cheese fritters were pretty good too! Smirnoff was on hand to provide a taste of their new lo-cal options, Mango was really good!

Id like to thank my pal Xerxes for another fun event and for having me sit with some new people other than my regular Yelp pals...I enjoyed meeting some new faces and look forward to meeting others that I have yet to.

Another excellent Elite event put on by our valiant Yelp CM. Our guy Xerxes knows how to make stuff happen.

My family and I patronize Woody McGhee's somewhat regularly so we are familiar with Don and his restaurant. Last night, his team put out a pretty lavish spread consisting of some current menu staples such as the Brussel Sprout salad, jumbalaya, chicken cheese dip and the 50/50 burger as well as a couple of new items like the cheese fritters and pistachio chicken. Quality and quantity of every item was superb.

In getting to know Don a bit, I have realized that he really epitomizes the old school restaurateur who wants to give it to you better than you expected it to be every single time. When his team falls short, he humbly apologizes and strives to make it right for you. It doesn't matter if he is having a bad day or his chef is being tempermental or his beer distributor is trying to screw him. His job is to suck it up and give good restaurant to his customers day in and day out. That is why he earns my repeat business.

We also got the chance to sample some O'Connor beers, which is one of our local microbreweries. I loved the El Guapo, which is infused with Agave nectar that blends quite smoothly with the hoppiness of the beer. Good stuff but at over 7% ABV, if I had drunk one more I would have needed a nap before going home.

The Smirnoff ladies were also handing out free samples of some new products but they all fell into the girly drink category. Sweet cocktails aren't my thing but I certainly appreciated the offer (okay...okay...I might have tried one or two samples. I confess).

      First to Review

Had a good time tonight. Much better then I was expecting to in fact. The food was on point and the establishment stepped up to the plate both in quality , flavor and amount.

I enjoyed meeting the owner Don and left with a better understanding of where he's coming from and where he wants to go with the location and some dynamics / challenges of it.

I also got to put a pair of sunglasses and a stash on my face and looked like an extra from super troopers

... Listen here meow, I said meow. The 50/50 sliders were great, the pistachio chicken was flavorful but for me the Brussels sprouts , goat cheese salad or whatever the hell it was , I'd literally find a deep dark corner away from the world and judgment and stuff my whole damn face with all of that salad, I loved it and let Don know also that it was great.

I made some new friends also which is great because outside of yelp I'm a lonely sad dbag... Ok sorry I got side tracked, anyways.

Always appreciate an official yelp event and the work that goes into setting it up. Look forward to the next one !

I had no idea what to expect walking into this brick building that looked like it was probably just a pool hall inside. It is in fact a well designed, beautiful inside with nice tables and a friendly owner. Don is a passionate man with great ideas.

Connor brewing walked around and let us know about the cool things they had going on during the week- definitely must try! The beer was fantastic, strong, and flavorful. I had the Guapo and it was very good.

We sampled the spiciest of jambalayas, Brussel Sprout Salad, and the Bloody Mary Mussels. All were amazing. Let me say, though, that the brussel sprout salad was DELICIOUS with goat cheese and whatever the hell else. Amazing!!!! I'll be back for that! The service was friendly and definitely on top of things. They also let us sample some of their cocktails and they were delicious and sweet. Great place, great owners, and a perfect first Elite Event!

I enjoyed this, my second Elite Event, especially since I'd been meaning to scope the venue out ever since I found out they have a 50/50 Beef&Bacon Burger. Which was available in slider form and was delicious! They also had a really good pistachio chicken. I enjoyed meeting (and re-meeting) people and hearing what they had to say about Yelp and places around town.

When I could hear them, that was. That was my biggest problem with the event - the room got very loud, with the background noise drowning out the conversations I was taking part in. I was having trouble hearing people next to me or one seat over. I'm not sure if it's because of the layout, or the walls not having enough decoration to absorb and diffract sound waves, or maybe just that my ears are still a little messed up from the Rush concert on Sunday, but whatever it is it was a disappointment for the event. Also, I was disappointed that the beverage provider switched from Smartmouth Brewery, which I'd never tried before, to O'Connor, which I had. I did get to try a new beer anyway, though, because O'Connor had a new (to me at least) beer called "El Guapo" on tap that they said had agave mixed into it!

And all the fake mustaches on display made me wish I hadn't shaved my 4-inch beard & matching mustache at the end of April.

This five star has everything to do with how sincere Don came across. He's passionate about his business and wanted to show Yelpers who he was, what they were about and use us as test dummies for some of his kitchen creations. I thought he seemed like such a genuine guy, that I'm just rooting for him.

In terms of the spread it was insanely generous and quite impressive. Creative and flavorful, the brussels salad was a favorite, but I quite enjoyed the bloody mary muscles, and cheese ball. The pistachio chicken was moist but I got more mushroom than nut. The jumbolaya was a touch spicy for me, but don't let that stop you ;-) And of course the night couldn't have been complete without their signature 50/50 burger. They really do love their bacon here.

The drinks were provided by both O'Connor's and Smirnoff (ummm X, update the About section...) This is actually my first time with the local beer company. Not a huge IPA fan myself, I think I would still love to check out the brewery on a Friday night when the food trucks are in force (UYE?). As for the cocktails, very much my style. The winner was the Mango Madness by far and I was loving life. These guys made the whole night just that much better.

This party was fun, even with the mustaches. I will say depending on the 'stache I looked like Prince, Weird Al, or Borat. So, yeah... not as much of a fan as some of the ladies who could make it look ironic and cute. By the way I hate you all.

I'm going to make Woody McGee's a regular stop from now on. I had a blast and have some new BFFs in Gabe D, Stephanie B, and Steve F since my yelp wife spent most of the night cheating on me with the Filipino mafia. I'm just not Asian enough. Oh and by the way, never follow this girl in your car. Julia's too fast, too furious. Enough of my relationship woes, X great party. The after party was even better, love to Joe D. Oh, and because I always forget shout out to All You Photography.

Great, tasty food. Excellent beer selections and a great sampling of new flavorful cocktails. The menu has such succulent tastings: the pistachio chicken, Brussel Sprout salad, the fried Mac and Cheese, the savory Bloody Mary Mussels, and the spicy jambalaya!

Don (the co-owner) is very passionate about his food and his place. Stop by and THANK HIM for such a lovely place to dine.

Fantastic event. Xerxes always knows how to throw down a good event.

First off, the check-in giveaway was pretty sweet, a picture with your CM (my pusha man), Priceless!
I had a great time at the "'Stache to Bash", it took me a week and a half to grow out my handle bars. But it added to the fun I had with fellow Yelpers at this event.
Don came across as a super cool guy that has a ton of experience in the business. "A bar supporting it's food habit" is a great way to describe this place. I have come here many times but never had anything to eat, just had drinks and played pool. But after last night I will not commit such folly ever again when I visit.
The food was Super-delicious and flavorful; the bacon and beef sliders along with the cheese crab dip were my favorites from last night's menu. Don't sleep on the Pistachio Chicken and Gumbo though, they were equally as delicious to my favorites.
O'Connor's beer was pretty good addition to the food. The dismal swamp beer in combination to the gumbo made a awesome medley of flavor in my mouth. Unfortunately, I was not a big fan of the Smirnoff mixed drinks. Though low in calories, I felt that the taste of them were bit lacking(almost anything that is low calorie typically is not a pleaser to my taste buds), but if you like drinks similar to crystal light these mixed drinks are for you.
Overall this place and the event gets Five Stars because the combination of great food, spirits and awesome people to share it with deserves it.

Don and Mike did a great job of hosting Yelp royalty last night, with a delish spread of food and hospitality. Thanks to the O'Connor rep for his wit and wisdom as well.
      Cheers to our CM!
