About the Business
The Yellow Porch is a food oasis, complete with small patio garden, located on Thompson Lane in Berry Hill. Opened in 1998 as one of a handful of independently owned restaurants in Nashville doing casual fine dining, it has always been loved for its displays of local art inside, its friendly, talented staff and an inviting setting. The Yellow Porch is creative in its food offerings, with a seasonal menu that boasts Mediterranean influences. The wine list is selected with a nod toward the unique, well-priced "find" and the full bar ranges from time-honored staples to local and boutique spirits.

My family came here on a Tuesday night with reservations for 6. Had no problem walking right in and grabbing our table.
It is a more upscale place, and it took about 30-45 minutes to place our order as our waiter had a lot of tables to cover. We had truffle fries with a nice spicy aioli and ketchup that helped hold us over thankfully.
Dinner came out after another 20-30 minutes so pretty normal wait time for there. My burger was medium-rare to rare almost bloody when I ordered it medium but I was not going to send it back and wait longer. The burger had caramelized onions and bacon but the beef was barely seasoned and It was just mediocre at best, but the fries were very good so that was a bonus.
My wife did not love her vegetable risotto and said it also didn't have a bunch of taste, but there was a huge portion of it which was a positive.
Overall, we weren't head over heels with our experience here and I don't think we will be making a second trip here with other restaurants in the area we also like.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Andrew P.TN, TN72136Sep 16, 2022
A fabulous little gem hidden out of "typical" Nashville.
The food is absolutely delicious. We promise you will
clean your plate!
Perfect date night ambience. Great background music
Low lighting. It is a little hard to find but worth it!!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Sep 3, 2021
#fatjared say...a good experience, great ambience, cool menu, but flavor and taste fell short for me.
The place is in a cut spot, tucked away right behind Jersey Mikes off the interstate. The inside is not quite as big as it looks, so it is a great spot for a date night. Lots of options for alcohol and wine (much more wine than spirits).
The menu online was correct with what we got, but the menu on Yelp is different, which lets me know they change their menu seasonally. I love that. They have some articles and awards about the chef.
I was there with 5 people, and I will say while the service was good, it was not great. Took a LONG time for her to come and get our order, but the food did come out in a good time once we ordered. Bread was included, and the oil and vinegar was good with some cheese in it, but bread was not warm...gotta have warm bread!!
We started with shareable orders of the Fritters and the Okra (okra was a special). The fritters were by far the best thing we ordered all night. Crust tasted like cheez-its, the inside was filled with gooey cheese. REALLY good. The okra was a tad underdone, not charred enough, but had a great sauce and spice to it.
We then ordered the Salmon Flatbread, the Crab Cake, and the Beet Salad. Flatbread fell way short. Barely any salmon on it whatsoever. Pretty much just fresh tomatoes and some cheese on bread. The crab cakes were ok, but not much crab flavor and a bit overpowered by the sauce. The Salad was awesome. No complaints there.
Big issue I had was not having everything available on the menu. Lamb Meatballs was part of the reason I came to the place, and they weren't serving them that night, but they had the lamb chops. I was really disappointed. Killed my vibe.
Overall, the price was not bad for how unique the flavors were, it's a cute spot for a date night, as American fusion food goes, it's not quite fine dining, but a fun spot. I was happy, but not over the moon. Average experience overall.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 0 - Kevin L.Hermitage, TN213May 5, 2023
We did takeout last night.
The Paella was a massive disappointment.
Mussels were good.
The shrimp in the Paella was okay, but didn't have that firm crispness of fresh shrimp
My daughter didn't think the chicken wasn't good, and she's not picky.
My son thought the pork was way over priced for the quality (yeah he said that). He is picky
Everyone liked the bread except me.. Its good bread, and the olive oil and balsamic mix was excellent. But it wasn't real italian bread and the manager told me that when we ordered.
It was the first time I've been there. The service was great. They were a little late ( like 5-10 minutes) with the takeout order and the manager apologized, and offered a free beverage while I waited.
I've heard about yellow porch a number of times over the last few years. Its always been positive. The owners are retiring, and Yellow Porch will shutdown at the end of the month. So I'm guessing some of their chef's have already left.
Its unfortunate, its a pleasant environment, hidden along a busy Thompson lane. I wish I'd been here a few years ago.I'll definitely stop by before tHelpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Travis T.Nashville-Davidson metropolitan government (balance), TN07Apr 17, 2023
I'm a GrubHub driver and some restaurants don't partner with GrubHub but GrubHub will call and place an order and pay over the phone for you to go and pick it up well they don't tip for those orders. So for anybody that's even placing an order for themselves make sure you tip or the guy with beard and backwards hat, will make it known that you didn't tip from all the way at the bar to the front door where you at the host stand where you pick up your order and I don't see why somebody thinks that just because you place a to go order the tip is a requirement . when you've done nothing but took an order down and cooked it . If That was the case McDonald's would make you do that every time you go to the drive-through. Some people don't wanna tip so that's why they order take out.

We were spending the night in Nashville and decided to try this restaurant. It was a short walk from our hotel. Since it was Monday did not expect a problem getting a table. We did have to wait because of limited help in the kitchen. One person as they left the restaurant told us to order the fish special. They had three choices of fish with no prices on the specials menu. After drinks we ordered our meal. I ordered the blackened fish with shrimp special accompanied by two small sides. My wife ordered the Cajun chicken pasta. My fish was ok along with the shrimp. My wife enjoyed her pasta. When we got the bill I noticed my special was $49. I was shocked at this price. I know I should have asked the entree price but never thought it would be this much. I guess if I am going to pay this much it should be really special and it wasn't. Good but didn't justify the cost. A lesson learned that I am always asking the specials price if not listed. Server did a nice job and was friendly.

Went here for dinner and it was pretty good. We were seated right away as we had a reservation but the place was half empty when we went (Thursday night). Our server was nice, the ambiance inside and outside was cute and romantic (had string lights everywhere, dimly lit, paintings of rockstars all around), and the food portions were massive (had to pack it to go) but delicious. The location was a little bit out of the way, but it was still a very nice meal.

Todd was our waiter and he was fantastic! We were searching for a different restaurant and stumbled onto this place. Banana bread pudding was Decadent!
The service was the most standout part.
My meal was good but my husband had the winner with the Salmon.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - 1868011890Jul 17, 2021
Had a wonderful meal at this quaint cafe like restaurant in a small parking lot. Great service, yummy appetizers and starters and generous portions. For best value get the mussels! So many and so delicious!

I usually don't write reviews, however in this case I wanted to share my experience, not just because of the delicious food but more about the service.
The Yellow Porch is one of Nashville's jewels that hasn't changed since the first time I had my first meal over 15 years ago. When a friend surprised me with dinner for my born day. After all these years the food is still as good today as it was then. If you want a wonderful meal without the pretentious flair, this charming place is for you.
Yesterday, I arrived at the restaurant to celebrate another born day with a couple of friends. However, we were surprised that our 7 pm reservation wasn't available (wonderful technology and thank goodness for print screens). This was a disappointment because I was really looking forward to having my meal at the restaurant. As I am thinking about where we should go if they couldn't fit us in, Todd (manager) was able to save the day. He and his staff were able to accommodate us regardless of technology not being on our side. I want to state thank you for your service. I was greatly appreciated, more than you will know.
Some of you may want to know what I ate, well this time I tried something different - Herb Marinated Skillet Chicken. This is another dish that I closed my eyes to savor, so this should let you know how good it was. Also, I have eaten in the past the Herb Crusted Salmon, Shrimp & Crab Stuffed Trout, and the Penne Bettola, and all were delicious. Oh, please don't let me forget the Celery and Blue Cheese soup, this is tasty. For those of you who may think both of these ingredients may overpower your taste buds, you will be presently surprised. I personally am a fan of both ingredients however for those who aren't I still will state you should try this soup. However, the tomato basil and cauliflower & cheese soups are flavorful as well, if you aren't tempted.
Then there is dessert, I am not big on desserts however since I was celebrating another born day so why not indulge. So, I chose the Creme Brulee, and my friend ordered the Banana Foster White Chocolate Pudding. We were not disappointed.
As for following safety regulations during the pandemic, even though this isn't a spacious restaurant. The tables were socially distant, staff wore masks, so The Yellow Porch is following the regulations currently in place.
Thanks again, The Yellow Porch for your good food and service.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0
